Since the LOZ trip isn't going to happen anymore I was just seeing if any boaters who needed a partner were interested. I am more than willing of splitting gas for the boat and the ride to the lake and back.
Jason
Okay guys, here's the latest.
Jaskoh and possibly Illinoisbasser are going to need partners/boats to fish with/out of. So anyone with a boat and no partner who would like or need one, let us know on this thread. YET, there are rentals available at the lake. All that is needed in addition is a large cooler with a portable aerator (livewell). I will not allow stringers or baskets for the tourney. Maybe a couple nonboaters can get together on a rental and still fish. I will make sure any info on boaters without partners will be posted ASAP.
As it stands now, cart7 and Valascus are definitely coming over from MO and CJ is possibly coming up from KY. The Illinois contingent is unknown since this is an open tourney. I got the word out to my old club at their meeting last night (50 - 60 members) and my favorite bait shop has posted a flyer for this tourney and has graciously donated some product making door prizes possible.
Oh...I'll be there alright....and the prediction for this battle...PAIN!! ;D
Should be a fun day on the water. Can't wait for next weekend!
Love the enthusiasm, Val!! ;D ;D
Is needemp going to this shootout?
BTW, I'll be there tomorrow checking out the competition. ;D
I talked to needemp on weds and he said he doesn't think he is going to make it. How much is boat rental btw???
Dunno, I forgot to check boat rental costs today.
BTW, it was freezing this morning. Dink braved the cold wind, ran up lake and knocked em dead. I stayed down lake and caught nothing. Moved up the lake and finally caught some fish.
Sorry guys, I am not going to make it to this one, but hopefully the Oct 6 tourney. It all depends if we pre-fish Shelbyville that weekend or not. Good luck guys.
Fishing report:
The fishies are eating at WashCo. Illinoisbasser and I ended up with 20 keepers with the six biggest a little over 20 lbs. Like cart7 said, we ran up north to the shallower water that was getting wind and threw spinnerbaits. Persistence paid off. The good news being the fish getting on a Fall feed for a day at least. The water temps around the lake ranged from 67 to 74 on the surface. Water was stained to murky with only 1-2 feet visibility. I-basser's biggie was just under 5 lbs. and mine was just under 6.
Tourney update:
For anyone interested in a rental boat and prices contact John @ 618.327.9311. My local bait store, Fairview Sports in Fairview Heights, has graciously donated some baits for this upcoming tourney. These will be given out as attendance prizes. Simonton's Bait Store there at the lake (John) wil also be providing some goodies for the tourney. I alsready stated in another thread that the weigh-in bags ARE provided and I have access to some small tubs for use as holding tanks if needed. As far as lake rules and other tourney rules, those will be covered before take-off Saturday morning.
As far as I know, Jaskoh and myself will be renting a boat. So count me in. CJ shot me a PM. He won't be making the trip. We should have a B.Resource members tourney on Kentucky Lake sometime. Early November?

I'm sure it could be arranged! 8-)
Pick any weekend CJ, I'll drive down. It's less than a 3 hour trip for me.
We'll put it in the works soon!
Good Luck this weekend guys!Hope ya'll whack em'!
92 degrees this weekend. ugggh. Breakout the shorts and sandals again. I guess we'll see how this long hot trend effects the bass that were starting to get into a fall pattern.
I was thinking the same thing. I don't think the pattern that was in place on last Saturday is going to be the case this Saturday. The weather pattern has been pretty stable and on the warmer side for a full week by Saturday.
I know this is a little off topic. Ive never been to Wash Co. Is there any fast food joints that will be open at around 5:30 or should I just count on eating protein bars all day.
When you turn off I-64 there's a Micky D's. Pretty sure they're open at that time. There is also a hardees or Burger King in Nashville, also on the way to the lake. Not sure on their opening time.
Thats perfect Cart, thank you. Nothing better than a fishing tournament to get you to eat unhealty
Cart's right. There is a Mickey D's not too when you exit off of 64 and there is a Hardee's in the middle of Nashville.
Simonton's Bait Store at the lake also has those delicious little Jimmy Dean sausage, egg and cheese biscuits as well as a selection of other sub-type sandwiches and burgers to choose from all of which are microwavable (yes, he's got a microwave too. Gatorades, sodas, chips, candy, snack cakes and jerky are some of the other things he sells there. He has good prices (lower than in town) and decent selection. He also started carrying bass fishing gear this year. A few of us "locals" got together to decide on the selection of baits for that lake. I am pushing his goods a bit, but he is co-sponsoring the tournies with Fairview Sports and myself.
Oh yeah...he also has fishing licenses.

******REMINDER********
For anyone who can't make this one, but was interested should mark October 6 on their calendar for the next one. I am also working on a rod giveaway for the Oct. 6 tourney. It will probably be a Wizard Dropshot or Vertical Jigging spinning rod ($140.00 value). Also there will be some more lures for attendance prizes as well.
Man I wish I could be there this weekend. I would love to stick some of those Wash Co bass. I hope I can make the Oct 6 tourney. Good luck to all y'all (Whip 'em good Jaskoh )

ummmm, comfort food. ;D
SO...who is ready for an administering of a good beating tomorrow? ANYONE?!? ANYONE!?! ;D
dink already sore lipped all those fish up the lake last week so they'll be in no mood to bite tomorrow.
;D
No worries... I snagged 'em all in the side. ;D ;D
I will be up there at the bait shop as early as 5:30 am tomorrow morning, but no later than 6:00 am. We will be starting at 7 am and fishing until weigh-in time which is yet to be undetermined. Give me some input on how long you want to fish. I am definitely leaning toward 3pm.
LET'S GO GET 'EM!

Results??????
Valascus said there would be a beating.... he just didn't know it would be his own. ;D ;D
We ended up with four teams (boats). Not a great turnout in numbers but the comraderie made up for that. The bite was tough once again, yet my partner, Doug and I managed to get a limit (6) by weigh-in. We targeted main lake areas with stumps using a jig/craw (me) and a salt craw (Doug) for a total just a smidge over 15 lbs. with a 4 lb. 2 oz heavy for BB and 1st. Illinoisbasser and jaskoh had one fish, caught on a LC crankbait, over 2 lbs. for 2nd place. And cart7 and Valascus also had one under 2 lbs. that I believe was also caught on a crankbait. Although more boats would have made a better payout, a good time was had by all and I hope to see everyone again in two weeks on Oct. 6 for the next one.
dink
It was tough, Val and I each had a keeper fish come unbuttoned at the boat. The forecasted 10-15 mph wind from the NE never happened, most of the morning was dead calm and it got pretty hot, at least for the first day of fall. We caught a bunch of small fish. Val and I were catching them on a worm bite but the fish just weren't committing all that well to taking the worm. They'd pick it up, drop it, push it some, then take it again, if you were lucky they eventually pick it up so you could set the hook. I got frustrated with that and switched to a tube, sluggo and a jig. Nothing on them. Most of my fish came on a Regular Rat-L-trap, a floating Rat-L-trap and a Rapala Glass shad.
Hopefully we'll see more guys out in Oct.
"SO...who is ready for an administering of a good beating tomorrow? ANYONE?!? ANYONE!?!"
Oh, oh, pick me... ;D. Yeah, Rich (dink), laid the beatdown on everyone. I believe he had a 6 fish limit of over 15 lb between himself and his partner Doug. Rich also landed the two hawgs of the day of 3lb 15oz. (I think), and 4lb 2oz. Second place got one fish that was 2lb 10oz. Glen (cart7) got our only keeper to the boat...and when I say keeper, he was just barely a keeper. We didn't bother weighing it, but I would estimate about a pound-ish. If we would have landed those two keepers that came unbuttoned at the boat, we may have gotten second. Wash Co. is a good lake. It is a few feet low right now, but boy...when it gets some water, there are some prime fishy spots up there. Tough day of fishing, but fun nonetheless.
I really wanna come back out there again in two weeks. We will see how that goes. I feel I need to get some redemption.
Sounds like ya'll had a good time.
Dink, did you get all those guys to come over there just so you could pick on them? ;D I think you did.
I'll be tied down to Ky.Lake for the next several weeks, gotta big one comin' up.I ain't coming up there for Dink to hand me my butt! We'll try to put something togather on Ky.Lake this fall if ya'll will be up to it.I'll put Dink in my boat so he won't have any chance of winning! Chris
Hi All!
I have been lurking around this site for quite awhile and finally decided to post. This tourney sounds like fun! A friend from work and I are planning on making it to this one. We just started into Bass fishing last year, so we won't be any competition. This would be the first and only tournament for either of us.
Just a few questions:
What is the cost?
I might have a boat to use, but if not, what does it cost to rent one?
I live in St. Louis and fish alot at Busch's Wildlife (because I don't have a boat!). If anyone wants to get together some time, out there, let me know.
I started a new thread here
http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1190804824
for the Oct 6 Tournament.
$10 a person entry.
Pays big bass and 1st and 2nd place.
Check in starts at 6am at the concession building at Washco
Tourney from 7am - 3pm.
Holeshot, I fish Busch atleast once a week most of the time twice a week. What lakes do you typically fish? I am mostly at 35 and 33 on occassion.
Jason
Thanks for the info cart7. I'll start posting on the new thread.
Jason,
I usually go out thursdays after work (around 4:00pm). I've fished 34 and 35 from boats and 6, 9, 10, 16, 31 or 32 and 33 from the bank. Not sure if I will make it today or not.
Do you get a boat when you go? What days are you normally there?
Eric
Yeah, I get a boat when I am up there. I usually go Weds or Thurs nights after work. I will be up there today but I haven't decided which lake yet. If you see a guy with a Blue DCS hat on feel free to introduce yourself if you head up there. I didn't get to fish last week. Do you think the bass are in transition from summer to fall pattern or do you think they are full blown summer pattern still?
Jason

I didn't make it. I hope you did well.
As far as patterns go, I'm not the one to ask.
I can barely catch anything when I go! I usually don't start catching them till the sun sets and the small ones will hit anything that moves. ;D
Holeshot I don't want to highjack this old thread.
