Just wondering what everyone uses for a tow vehicle. I have a 1998 Chevy Z71 127,345 miles. Still runs like a champ.
'05 Ram, 4.7/6 speed manual/3.92 gears.
Can't even tell the boats back there.
Of course, the boats a 14' jon...
It's not "mine", but it's what I use: 2005 Trailblazer with the V8. Can't tell my boat is back there either ........ but I also am either towing a 14 ft Jon or a 2 man bass boat. ;D
'02 F150 Lariat, 5.4 automatic. What boat??? 8-)
1991 S10 Blazer

2004 GMC Yukon XL, 100,390 miles, about half with boat in tow ( 21' ) and I know its back there!!! >
1999 Ford F-150 Supercab. 80,000 miles on it. Tows my 18 1/2 foot Champion rather well.
2004 Chevy Silverado 3500, 4 door with the Duramax diesel. It will pull down a house
2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 Extended cab, 4.7 liter V8.
1990 ford f-150 5.0l 302, 113,000 miles on it, tows my 17.5' tracker alright, still takin a lickin but keeps on tickin
2001 s-10 4 banger, 5 speed. 135,000 miles, bought it brand new. Not only can I tell the boat is behind it, but when I look out the mirrors, all I see is boat ;D
But for 19 miles per gallon towing, i'm keeping it.
04 silverado 4x4 5.3L ext cab. great truck. Getting close to 31,000 mile almost time for a new one.
I either use my wifes, 2005 Chevy Equinox or my 2001 Bonneville to pull my '89 Bass Tracker Tournament V-17. I really haven't seen much of a difference between the two vehicles, the Bonneville actually has more power, but dosen't stop quite as well. I've never gotten stuck at a ramp, however, I have spun out a few times in both vehicles on ramps. There have been times I was glad to be in the Equinox, versus the Bonneville though.
2006 Chevy Silverado....pulls fine
I use two.One is a Ford F-150 and the other is a Ford Explorer.
I carry the shame driving of the only Ford Windstar mini-van at the ramp. ;D
2006 Ford F-250 Power Stroke diesel. I have to remind myself I am pulling a boat.
QuoteI carry the shame driving of the only Ford Windstar mini-van at the ramp. ;D
It doesn't matter what you drive, as long as it works. You are fishing...that is what matters. I happen to pull with a large truck, but that is only because I have that truck for work purposes. I would use anything I had to get me to to ramp.
2000 Full size Dodge Ram 1500 series 3.9L Van with towing differential/tranny upgrade. 96k miles. Hard working van! Also rescued over 500 Beagles/Coonhounds in this van!
Will never use Goodyear tires again though...terrible traction on wet ramps...
2004 Ford F-150 5.4l with tow package.
2006 F-150 4x2 S/C 4.6L V8, Auto O/D w/3.55 Lim. Slip.
Hauls the Skeeter (TZX200) like it wasn't even there.
2005 F150 4x4 pulls my nitro pretty well. It was the best graduation gift I ever bought myself
1991 Toyota Camry.
pinkfloydrules,
what kind of boat do you pull with this toyota camry?
A 14ft fiberglass River Master boat. It only weighs about 1,000lb and the Camry is rated to tow 3,000, so it's alright.
Pull my partners TR-20 with a 2005 Z71 like a dream. But when we hook his GMC 2500 Duramax to the TR-20 - like they said, what boat.
2004 Ford F-150 4x4 with 5.4 liter towing a Skeeter ZX190 .
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
I'M A NEWBIE TO THIS SITE AND IT LOOKS GREAT. THOUGHT I MIGHT CONTRIBUTE MY EXPERIENCE TO ANYONE CONSIDERING DOWN SIZING THEIR TOW VEHICLE.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I MOVED FROM A 2003 SUBURBAN Z71 TO A 2006 TOYOTO TACOMA 4DR 4WD AND I'M VERY PLEASED WITH IT. IT PULLS MY HEAVY 18-1/2 WALLEYE TYPE ALUMINUM BOAT WITH EASE. I HAVE TOWED IT TO FL AND BACK TO TN AND ALL KINDS OF 200+ MILE TRIPS. SO, IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING ONE, MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT THEY WILL DO THE JOB.
MILEAGE IS NOT A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN THE BURB WHEN TOWING, ABOUT 2 MPG ;D, BUT I CAN GET PLACES IN THE WOODS DURING THE FALL AND HUNTING SEASON THAT I COULDN'T WITH THE BURB. IT'S VERY COMFORTABLE WITH PLENTY OF HEAD ROOM AND LEG ROOM FOR MY 6'3" FRAME. PLENTY ROOM FOR 4 ADULTS. IF ANYONE SHOULD DESIRE MORE INFO ON THS RIG, SEND ME AN EMAIL.

1985 GMC HD 3/4 ton 4WD with 217,000 miles. I pull an 18' Crestliner Canadian on a tandem axle trailer. Not only is this my tow vehicle it's my go to the store vehicle, visit Mom vehicle etc. In fact, it's the only vehicle I've owned in 21 years. Just completed a 4000 mile tow (AZ to Florida) averaging 10.7 MPG. carrying my cat Rascal - and some cat tranquilizers!
2005 Toyota FourRunner, 6 cyl 4.0 Liter.
