hi everyone i just a used 1991stratius boat it was last used in sep. and im in ny so we get lots of cold and snow weather it was stored outside but compleatly covered at all times do you think it would make a diff to winterize it now
Wasn't the boat winterized before the guy parked it?
If it wasn't, did you atleast hear it run?
You might have some problems in spring if it wasn't properly taken care of. And to answer your question, I wouldn't do it now it's too late in the season.
yes i turned it over myself
I wouldn't winterize it now but would definitely give it a good tune up in the spring.
ok ill prob take it to a shop to have that done

ok ill do it tom. cause its late now
Good idea to have it done by a mechanic - you can have them do a compression check while it is in there.
Next time around, it's not a bad idea to agree to buy a boat on condition that it checks out at the mechanic. You then give the seller a deposit, take it to a shop, have them run it, do a compression test, and then - assuming it is late fall or winter - winterize it when they are done. Should only cost a few bucks more than a normal winterization. If it doesn't check out you obviously don't have them to the winterization and go get your deposit back.
You guys are TERRIBLE ;D ;D
Congratulations on the new boat. Welcome to the site..
Congrats!
You guys are killing me. ;D That's just wrong.
ok first of all i do know some stuff about boats and look for stuff that is bad like wiring and transom and so on im not much on motors but i have learned some by fixing up and old 1979 glass tron with a 55hp johnson on it and all the wires were rotted to no repair so im kind self from talking to mecanics and other boat people and i didnt know of this sight of i would has came here for advice im not perfict and nobody is thats life thats why we come here to find out stuff not to be bomb barted with sarcasum and im sorry if you think im dumn but you could atleast be nice im no exspert but im tying to learn
Were not calling you dumb by no means. Just use the Check spelling button, that's why it's there. Sometimes it's hard to understand what people are trying to say. That's all.
ok i tryed to post some pics of my boat on here and it said the post was to big any suggestion

Thanks to all of our vigilant members, I feel that I no longer have to be the resident *** regarding the lazy use of spelling, grammar and punctuation. It seems that a much larger portion of our members are becoming as big an *** as I amwas. Thanks guys!

No one was bashing you. But for future reference, through a computer screen, you are judged a lot on grammar. Many people who 'trash' the site will register and post a lot of dumb posts with poor grammar, so people tend to judge. Periods and commas are your friends. ;D
By the way, congrats on the boat!

While it can be difficult at times to read a post full of misspellings, let's not be too eager to jump on somebody about it. For some, spelling is not their forte. And if they feel they're going to get ambushed by the spelling police, they're less apt to post here.
So while spelling errors can by annoying for some, I'd much rather relish in a member's contributions than make them feel unwelcome. Tips and helpful suggestions - such as "use the check spelling feature" - are always welcome, but please be careful of becoming over-zealous about spelling and grammar.
Thanks!
