Is this quiet? 8 have had so many that i had to return cuz they arent!
Answer: It is not real quiet, and it does not have enough wattage to dry things quickly. If I had known I would have chosen a different model. This is unsatisfactory in my opinion.

Answer: As long as the garage is in a dry place, I don't understand why it can't be done. Good value, I dried beef, ham, chicken, apples and bananas on the kitchen counter. I never noticed any smell. Although, our dogs may stop them in front of it every time they see me setting up the dehydrator, watching and waiting for me to pull out their favorite dry dog hug.

What is the height of the pallet? I want to dry 1 inch high non-food
Answer: It can be switched between 0.75 inches and 1.25 inches, depending on your personal needs
Answer: Stacking height between trays can be 5/8” or 1 1/4” depending on how they are turned in relation to each other.
Answer: with this model you have two rack height options .78" and 1.25". look at picture #3 or #4 it shows all the dimensions .
Answer: It is just one inch between the trays.

What is the average time for dehydrating foods? And can it over heat causing a fire?
Answer: Average dehydrating time varies by food and local humidity. Something like figs in the desert takes about 18 hours but say in Kentucky in the summer would take about 36 hours. There's usually a broad window the guide gives you that gives with the product.
Answer: It cannot overheat when used as instructed. Different foods and different thicknesses effect the time needed for dehydration. There is a booklet enclosed which gives you help. We like the plastic trays for making beef jerky. Metal trays give meat an undesirable metallic taste. Hope this helps.

Answer: IF you are asking about uncooked (raw) chicken, it must be at least 160 degrees F. You can use a convection oven but safely dehydrating raw poultry can be hazardous unless the drying temperatures are sufficiently high and the dehydrated product is properly and safely vacuum sealed packets. BE CAREFUL and do not be in a hurry because it can be risky!

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas last year since he kept talking about wanting to make jerky. He absolutely loves it - he said it's super easy to use and he's made maybe a dozen batches of different types of jerky. He hasn't used it for anything else yet but a year later it's still cooking! Works excellent. Liked it so well I bought a much larger unit with 8 shelves. Can't wait to receive that one but this one works extremely well. Excellent unit to see if you want to make an investment in a larger model.
Don't want the preservatives and additives of store bought dehydrated fruits? Easy answer. We always seemed to have a bit of extra fruit between store trips. Thought we would give this a try. Much better that store bought fruit chips. Fresh. Machine puts out about the same noise as a medium sized air purifier. Basically white noise. There are control keys, on-off keys and temperature adjustment keys

I like this product a lot just because I like dried products in general. I’m a huge fan of almost any fruit or vegetable that can be dehydrated, two examples being kiwis and sweet potatoes. When I received this product I decided to try dehydrating a new fruit that I’ve never tried dehydrated, that fruit being bananas. I put them in the dehydrator for a while and when they came out they were delicious! They were sweet and had a weird but nice texture to them. Will definitely be using this product more often in the future.

I feel like the noise level increases the longer you run it. It’s not extremely hard to clean but if you don’t have a dishwasher it’s not exactly fun lots of little holes but that’s good for airflow. So far I’ve done beef jerky and it on several occasions it turned out great there is no temperature control or any settings whatsoever you just plug it in and turn it on I wish you could adjust the temperatureI would say it’s a quality product overall definitely did it’s job I would buy again

Very useful when storing them away. I ordered two extra trays and they work perfect. I also need to mention the need to rotate trays on many dehydrators during the cooking process. Not on this unit. The air circulates evenly from top to bottom. This is a huge plus in my opinion. It is not noisy but not too bad.
