Answer: I have an ancient Food Saver machine. I also have a chest freezer I keep at minus 10-15 degrees F. (measured with a thermometer). About 12 years ago, I lost a vac-packed strip steak in the bottom of the freezer. When I found the steak, I thawed and sautéed it. Perfectly fresh. Of course, YMMV depending on type of freezer and temperature at which you keep it.

Answer: I am not sure. With a product like flower or coffee, it might be pulled out with the vacuum. I would suggest using a vacuum seal canister for something like that. This would save you on bag material as you can seal the container, open it when you need to access the contents and then reseal it. Answer: The cutter come with the machine is not a built-in one. But it is very easy and safe to use. Surrounding the blade is a circle of ABS material which is BPA free.

Potane has a common hose connector compatible with many different brands of vacuum containers. I also have purchased wine stoppers that worked fine with POTANE also.

So I just got my vacuum sealer tried it fight away with some dry nuts. It brought bags so I was able to try it. It sealed those nuts tight and the bag didn’t puncture. So I call it good. Also it brings an accessory tube for use with the canister (not included). It’s taped into a slot so don’t worry about the masking tape holding the tube in place. However this company will gift you the canister if you review their product.

Although noisy, it did seem to vacuum well, just couldn't "hold it's breath" long enough for the seal to complete.
It appears to be new on the market, so I'm hoping I've chosen well.

JamesinPA : Great food saver - has buttons for manual vacuum and seal.
I bought this because my old Foodsaver brand was getting low on suction power and the fact that it didnt have a manual seal button was driving me crazy. This new Potane is great. It has multiple settings for vacuum which is nice for sealing moist and soft foods. The manual seal button is a plus for making your bags quickly. The vacuum is quick compared to my old foodsaver. I took off 1 star because the heat strip can become too hot if don't leave some cool down time between bags. It will melt completely through the plastic. Also the cord storage is just a hole in the underneath. It would have been nice to have a couple tabs to wrap the cord around to stay somewhat organized.

I bought this unit to replace a similar device from a NutriChef. That unit would often misfire on closing choosing new random settings as I latched it. A few weeks after its 1 year warranty expired, it would only allow sealing, so it had to go.
I have not used this new device many times, but I already appreciate the solid button selections rather than the flaky "touch screen" top panel of the NutriChef. My use is not frequent, maybe every few weeks, but when I use it I normally seal a couple of dozen bags in a run.
I chose this unit mainly based on its long 5 year warranty hoping to get a long reliable life from it.

I would have given this item 5 stars if it had a built in cutter. I was spoiled with a previous machine. POTANE’s machine is very simple to use and does a quick job of sealing. I appreciate that they attempted to have a compartment for the cord, but is not the easiest to utilize. I have yet to seal anything with moisture so I cannot attest to the mild incline the machine has. All in all a good product.

I like this machine because I typically cook for one -- me. Thus, I have to separate and "proportionalize" especially the meats that I buy in order to only unthaw what's needed. I especially liked the fact that it came with bags. The pictures should illustrate the two different sizes (5 of each) that came with it. I took one of the smaller bags and used the black "cutter" to cut the bag in half -- for a good sized chicken breast. I then sealed one end of the "cutoff" to make another bag to seal another breast. I'm gonna love this one. Quality seems good and the company offers a 5 year warranty. This will make a great gift!

We are very happy with this sealer. It has storage for a roll and the cutter works very well. One of the best things is how it closes. You don't have to push down on two corners like mot others. there is a handle, and all you have to do is push it down for it to lock. The controls are very easy to understand and use. We have used it a lot for sous vide in the few weeks we have had it. There has been nothing we don't like about it.

After much researching & looking at reviews on Amazon, I decided on this Potane Vacuum Sealer. I have to say, I am quite impressed with it. Sometimes we seemed convinced to buy a name brand product, but after looking at mixed reviews on many of them, this one had a lot of good reviews. After buying another brand earlier this year & it arrived damaged, I decided it was time to invest in a better one. The price was still reasonable. I looked at the weight & it was a couple more lbs than my previous one. It comes with a 5 year warranty. It has preset modes for dry, moist, gentle & delicate. It gives a good seal & it vacuumed the air out of the bag real well. It has a brushless motor. It seems to be a well made sealer & it’s easy to use. It came with two rolls of sealer bags & an extra rubber gasket. During this pandemic, I am trying to limit my trips to the grocery store, so this is a nice appliance to have to go along with a new freezer that I invested in. If you’re shopping for one, you might want to take a serious look at this one. I’m glad I did.

Pros: Nice air tight seal every time, very powerful vacuum seal (especially on the dry setting, ability to seal only, ability to vacuum as much or as little as you want, light weight and ease of use.

I like everything about this POTANE vacuum sealer. This is the fourth machine of this type that I have purchased and tested in the past month; the other three had weak vacuum and were sent back. The POTANE is a little more expensive than my first three but worth every penny more. The FIVE year warranty is what really separates this unit from others. It's fun to use and the vacuum power is simply awesome. I gave my neighbor a demo of the Pontane and she went back home and bought one shortly after. I definitely recommend my POTANE.

I bought this because my old Foodsaver brand was getting low on suction power and the fact that it didnt have a manual seal button was driving me crazy. This new Potane is great. It has multiple settings for vacuum which is nice for sealing moist and soft foods. The manual seal button is a plus for making your bags quickly. The vacuum is quick compared to my old foodsaver. I took off 1 star because the heat strip can become too hot if don't leave some cool down time between bags. It will melt completely through the plastic. Also the cord storage is just a hole in the underneath. It would have been nice to have a couple tabs to wrap the cord around to stay somewhat organized.

Great product! I can now save all my food from freezer burn AND shop at Costco! Only my husband and I, so shopping for meats at Costco wasn't worth it. I now have enough chicken, pork, beef all vacuum sealed in portions of 2. I haven't had to get any meats for months! Also, great in freezing left overs. No more bulky Tupperware and my freezer is super organized with more room. Great for prepping for hurricane season!!!

Love it! Works extremely well, definitely worth the money spent. It’s quick and very easy to use, I like the different options to choose from based around what kind of food you’re trying to save. The only thing is it would be nice if it has a cutter some how attached to it so it doesn’t get lost rather it be just a clip on the side or an actual built in cutter.... I ended up taking a piece of string and putting the cutter on that and storing it where the chord goes so i don’t loose it. The other thing is I like the fact the chord has a storage cubby and doesn’t have to hang out and about. I also like that you don’t have to waste a bunch of the bags when using the Roll others when you seal them they leave like inches of just extra and you have to give yourself that more space then this one

Seriously : Still Works Great after 7 months
I had a food sealer eons ago, but after seeing what my SIL and then going through Quarantine, I wanted my meats and such not to get freezer burn. So after lots of research, reading great reviews and the price was right. I decided to buy this machine. It is simple to use, have unlimited uses and have yet to disappoint me. While it has 4 features programmed, I think my favorite thing about this sealer is the hand controlled Vacuum and Sealer I like best. I can freeze the fragilest items, or even my sauce (I use the hand Vacuum and sealer, so I can control it so the sauce doesn't get sucked out.). I even use it on Cake slices. I have probably used it about 40 times in the last 7 months and it still works good as new.

I have been looking to purchase a vacuum sealer for sometime and now the Potane has become my best friend in the kitchen. Since having to go from feeding 5 people per meal to 2 I was having a hard time eliminating food waste. The Potane eliminated that problem. It is extremely easy to use has different levels of suction power to eliminate smashing delicate food and when I reopen a sealed package, it is like it was just prepared or bought. The freshness is amazing. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a vacuum system that is easy to use, doesnt take up a lot of space and eliminates wasting food.

I couldn't be more satisfied! This sealer has fabulous vacuum power. Not once has it failed to seal a bag with the first attempt, and no vacuum-sealed bags have lost their vacuum nor been wasted. The machine is well-designed, as the electric cord stores under the bottom and the hose attachment stores inside the top. This vacuum sealer is simple to use and has been reliable without fail on dry and frozen foods. This vacuum sealer is a very good value for the money and backed by a five-year warranty. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

I like this machine because I typically cook for one -- me. Thus, I have to separate and "proportionalize" especially the meats that I buy in order to only unthaw what's needed. I especially liked the fact that it came with bags. The pictures should illustrate the two different sizes (5 of each) that came with it. I took one of the smaller bags and used the black "cutter" to cut the bag in half -- for a good sized chicken breast. I then sealed one end of the "cutoff" to make another bag to seal another breast. I'm gonna love this one. Quality seems good and the company offers a 5 year warranty. This will make a great gift!

Pro's: It is simply, touch button streamline. The have responsive customer service. The cord is longer than most, And it's easy to operate. CON'S: It's hard to close and does not include a latch closure which could cause lower lifespan if you use it heavily. Things I Wish It Had: It does not use just ANY kind of plastic bag you will need to invest in vacuum seal type bags. We wish It had an internal removable tray to dispense of liquids and clean. After reading many reviews for many different brands of vacuum sealers, I chose to go with POTANE Vacuum Sealer Machine, 85kPa Pro Vacuum Food Saver, 8-in-1 Easy Presets, 4 Food Modes, Dry&Moist&Soft&Delicate with Starter Kit, Compact Design with Cutter(Silver). I was still a little skeptical because it had so few reviews and not all were good. My friend recommended Food Saver as the best brand. After seeing all the negative reviews and witnessing it fail fresh out of the box, I chose to go with Potane instead. Potane had ½ as many reviews and only 5 were bad.

I've had my Potane for a year now, and I'm extremely happy with this unit. I've had two FoodSavers, and they were both a pain in the butt. No more constant fiddling to get the suction to come on. It just works every time. It also has the various settings for moist and dry. The only thing it doesn't have is space inside that holds a roll internally, but I couldn't care less. Oh, AND it's much smaller and easier to store.

I have debated a few times in the past about getting a vacuum sealer for the home. I've heard the pros and cons, and I finally reached the point where there were more pros in owning one so I decided to get one. Especially since I do a lot of shopping for food in big box stores, and would rather separate out one time use packs and be able to store the remaining potion longer than it holds up in a zip lock bag. I looked at the more known name brand sealers, and decided that I would look for something that had all or almost all of the same features, but with better reviews... and a much better price. I also looked at some "FxxdSxxxr" alternative vacuum sealer discussions and YouTube videos, and the Potane line came up a few times, so I figured I would give the 85kPa model a shot.
The unit is fairly compact, and doesn't weight a whole lot, so it will be easy for most people to move around with very little issues. The auxiliary canister hose is well made, and it has a very good storage location for it in the unit so you are less likely to misplace it. I also appreciated that it came with two rolls of material in both 8" wide and 11" wide, a replacement gasket, and a small little hand held cutter that can be used to both cut material off the roll to make bags, and to cut open sealed bags once you are ready to use the contents. Some other reviews on the product say it is not included, they are talking about previous models that had a cutter built into the sealer. NOTE: This unit does not have an internal storage area for the bag rolls like some models do.
As for operation. I found it very easy to use. You do need to put some pressure on both sides of the lid until you hear a snap into place before you will be able to successfully operate the system. After doing it once or twice you will get used to it.
I have probably used it to seal 15 bags, and using a mason jar sealing accessory (also found on Amazon), I have sealed a few mason jars, and a couple or reusable Potane (also found on Amazon) canisters without any issues. So far I have tried all four of the main modes: Dry, Moist, Soft, and Delicate, and they all worked well. And Unlike what I have seen in other reviews on the site, there are differences in the modes, and they work like they are supposed to. They do offer some helpful hints in the instruction book like adding a paper towel under very moist meats to absorb some of the juices, I also added a sheet of parchment paper under some ground Italian sausage to keep it together while sealing it. All of these hints work well. It also discusses the foods you should vacuum never seal.
It is worth your time to read the operations guide through (it is not that long) because certain things that I would have not thought about such as do not latch the top closed when you store it, wait 30 - 40 seconds between sealing to save wear and tear on the vacuum motor and the heating element used to seal the bags, and try and keep the unit clean within the vacuum channel, and on both the top and bottom of the sealer strip to get a good seal.

Couldn’t be easier to use. Bought a 1/2 cow and wanted to protect it from the burn!! This made pretty quick work of it. Wish they made a wider bag so I could get the brisket in one. We did it with the meat frozen already, removed from butcher paper.
We bought the wevac bags and they did not work. Went back to Potane bags and they worked perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Josh : Does not seal through moisture
If you plan to use this for only dry items it may work great for you. I live in Florida and use a vacuum sealer regularly for freezing fresh seafood. Anyone that has ever vacuum sealed fish/meat knows that liquid tends to get sucked out the bag into a catch tray and may result in the heat seal needing to be done a second time. This machine wouldn’t seal after the third attempt through the moisture and I had to wait roughly 10 seconds between each attempt or it wouldn’t allow a seal. For me its useless.

I had food saver brand very large never had room to leave it out. This Potane unit is very compact, small footprint on counter. Works very fast, seal is fast and strong, vac works great 123 bag is sucked tight. Great selection of how much suction you need, I would recommend, plus a 2 year return policy and a 5 year warranty you can't beat that.

I'm glad I have one but hate that it takes so much effort to close and lock.

I waited until I could write an honest review on this product. So far, it's sealed up nearly half a cow and half a pig. I already used up the bag rolls that came with the machine and I'm now using a bag made by another manufacturer. The machine itself works great. It vacuums the bags right down to nothing. I have sealed up complete meals, that all you have to do is put them in a stock pot of boiling water for about 15+ minutes and you have a perfect meal, just like fresh made. Great for a single person that wants to make meals in advance.
I just had a 22 cu. ft. freezer delivered and I'm going to fill it using this machine. That should be a lot more than the average family would use this machine for. It works well, is easy to simply wipe clean and takes up little storage room.

I really like this product. I buy proteins in bulk then freeze in portions. I’ve spent hours quadruple wrapping and labeling food over the years. Since I bought the Potane Vacuum Sealer all of that has ended, the vacuum and sealing process is so simple. I like the the fact that there is an automatic vacuum/sealing setting and separate sealing and vacuuming settings. You can regulate how much vacuum you want with the single setting and it stops when you let off the button. My photo of the shredded cheese was too compacted with the auto setting so I resealed it with the manual setting and it came out perfect. Two rolls of bags come with it, I purchased their combo pack as well. It has a detailed User Manual which is very helpful. I’m very happy with this purchase and wish I bought one a long time ago.

Also was impressed at the 5 year warranty. It works like a charm. It is super easy to use - just make sure both ends snap closed. I can't believe we didn't get one of these food sealers sooner. It makes it easy to portion out foods and seal so you can just grab a snack pack and go. With the 2 of us it is great to freeze one or two portions. So far I have had no problems at all. I just purchased a variety pack of precut bags that I am sure will be handy to cut out a couple steps (cutting and sealing the first end) when freezing foods. I would recommend this sealer.

Used this vacuum machine for the first time and it was easy to use and worked flawless. It is small in size but big in performance. Just push the right buttons and it does the job for you perfectly. If I had to I would buy this machine again in a heart beat !!! It's small in size makes it perfect to put it away without taking up a whole shelf !!!

I got this little treasure a couple of days ago and don't know how I lived without it. It doesn't take up a lot of space and does the job it's supposed to. Vacuum sealing meat keeps it from getting freezer burn and makes it compact so you can fit more in the freezer. Opened frozen veggies can just be sealed! Chips, cookies and snacks can be resealed for freshness and you don't take up extra space with clumsy clips. Lot's of great features in one little gadget!!

Vacuum sealer does as advertised. I like the auto stop feature. Very straight-forward. No issues thus far. GREAT customer service! Potane responds quickly, and I will definitely be buying more of their products in the future. So rare these days for a company to actually back up their products. Hats off to Potane!
