Questions about Promar Hook Resist Replacement Net
Q:
How does these do with triple hooks getting caught in the net?
Answer: They’ll get caught, but not too bad. You’d need a rubber net to completely avoid getting them caught, but those are too heavy in my opinion. I wish I’d bought the Promar years ago.
Answer: If barbless, not too many problems. If barbed triple hooks, snags.
Answer: I do not use triple hooks, but I believe that they would work much better than regular fabric nets!
Answer: Have not used the net.
Answer: It works great
Q:
How do I properly measure my net frame? Ive seen two different ways
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I measured my net frame from side to side at the widest part. The new net was a bit larger than the old net, which worked out perfectly.
Q:
Will this fit a round net?
Answer: My husband ordered this and used it for a round net. Hope that helps.
Answer: Yes it will as long as you ordered the correct size
Q:
My net is 17.5in x 17.5in. Which size would fit?
Answer: I saw this answer on Amazon, must’ve been you asking?
Answer: Small size fit very good
Q:
Do you have any with 1/4 inch mesh?
Answer: No
Answer: No
Q:
I have a 22 x 25 net. What size should I buy?
Answer: The medium is 20"x24" and the large is 28"x30". I would rather the replacement net be to large and baggy that to small and not fit at all. Good Luck...
Answer: Select one of the sizes and you will then see the specs
Q:
Is this knotless?? How would it work with a 20 pound salmon??
Answer: This is a knotless rubber coated hook resistant net. It would work excellent on fish up to 40-50lbs, depending on the net size itsef.
Answer: It worked for the ones I caught this year..
Q:
What size hoop for the extra large?
Q:
Will this fit a round frame net?
Answer: Yes, it replaced an older net on a triangle frame, but would fit a round frame as well.
Answer: Yes.it will fit around a round net
Answer: I think it would work fine as long as you order the correct size. A net is flexible and if the hoop is round shouldn't make any difference.
Answer: Never put it on was not the depth that was advertized I still kept it
Answer: Yes, that's what I used them on.
Answer: Yes, as long as you know dimensions and order accordingly!
Q:
What size hoop does a small fit?
Answer: Model # Hoop Size Handle Length Design
Answer: This net will work with a 18"-20" diameter net.
Q:
what is the circumference of this net?
Answer: It depends on what your fishing for, will decide what size you want . It’s a good net
Q:
How do i measure? Is it the circumfrence and the depth for the last number?
Answer: Under features and details (expanded) this small net is 18" x 20". Measure across your net should be 18" or less. Measure from bow at handle to end of net. Should be 20" or less. The net has a pocket around the open end where you insert the bow and work around so it has to be big enough.
Q:
How much weight can the large net hold?
Answer: These nets have been use to land fish well over 50-60 lbs. What type of fishing are you doing?
Answer: Not totally sure, but I have had nearly 90 northern pike netted that weigh 20 to 30 pounds with this netting and no tears or holes.
Answer: I really do not know what limits there are, but I did land a 22 pound buffalo fish not long ago...
Answer: I don't know for sure but I would guess at least 50lbs.
Q:
will this fit a frabil conservation series net hope?
Answer: If the net ring can be unscrewed and the size matches it should fit. The net looks like the conservation series.
Answer: No idea. It did fit my Boeckman net frame. Measure the width and length and you should be fine. I just returned from a salmon trip to West Coast Vancouver Island and it worked great.
Answer: It should I believe they have that size . I bought the XL replacement because I went to Argentina for Big golden dorado
Answer: If you can get the ring off and your ring is large enouge it should work
Q:
Is the "diameter" measured front to back or side to side, as my (and most) landing nets are not round and have different dimentions for each. Thanks
Answer: The first two numbers of the measurement are the length and width of the hoop diameter. The 3rd number is the depth of the bag. AxBxC where A is length, B is width, C is depth.
Answer: I used the measurement across the largest point.
Q:
I have three Rapala folding nets and need to replace the netting. Can this be used on triangular nets? Each of the 3 sides is 19".
Answer: The net a bought would be too big for your net of 3 side so 19". You would need a smaller net size. You need a net with hoop size of 24".
Q:
What are the hoop sizes and depths of the different sizes? Medium, Large, etc isn't very helpful if the dimensions aren't given.
Answer: I agree. Think I went to their actual site to find sizing. I bought a medium and my frame is 18 x 20 and it is a little big but works fine.
Answer: Pick one of the sizes then look at the specs. It gives the hoop size.
Answer: Pick one of the sizes then look at the specs. It gives the hoop size.
Q:
I have a 21 inch frame left to right and top to down of the frame toward the pool stick 21 inches. I'm not sure what size I need. Does anybody know?
Answer: Mine was 19inX20in and medium barely fit, so I think large is what you need .
Q:
What is the eye diameter?
Answer: What do you mean by the eye diameter?
Answer: I cannot answer as the net is at my lodge and won't be back thier until June. I do believe the might be smaller than 3/4, more 1/2 if my memory is correct.
Q:
what size net for 22w x 26 l do i need ?
Answer: Judging by my experience and reading other reviews, I believe you need the Large size net for your hoop.
Q:
Could you please tell me the circumference of the small net?
Answer: Our specs are based on diameter, the diameter of the small (RN-503) is 20". We recommend using this net with frames that are 18"-20" in diameter.
Answer: Sorry, I have the large one.
Q:
Are these made in USA
Answer: Made in China according to the label.
Answer: Not sure.
Q:
Will medium net fit frame that is 22"x22"?
Answer: I followed the sizing with the companies directions and was hard to slip on but great product
Answer: I would think so. They have a liberal cut.
Q:
I have a Ranger net that needs to be replaced. The net measures 24 inches wide by 26 inches long. Which size net you work best?
Answer: The medium Diameter = 20"x24", Mesh = 3/4", Depth = 24
Answer: Primary has a web site page for sizing nets.
Answer: Based on your measurements, I would guess that you would need to order a large.
Answer: not size advertised smaller never put on yet
Answer: It may be a little short, but this is such a good net it is worth the try
Q:
What size fits the promar ln-501b net?
Answer: There are different sizes but be sure to order one size larger. The one we ordered was for 28"x30" hoop and was tight.
Answer: I would suggest a large
Q:
what is the size of the eye where you insert the frame? What is the thickest frame i can fit it on? (making a custom net)
Answer: The eye is about 2" diameter. However, these nets are designed for frames around 1/2" to 3/4" thick. Anything thicker than that and it make be too difficult to install.
Answer: I would say it could easily fit a one inch pipe it’s pretty wide and well made
Q:
What size are the holes in the net??
Answer: The holes are oblong 3/8" X 5/8"
Answer: I’m estimating but I’d say 3/8”
Q:
Since my net is at camp in canada i can’t measure it do you think i could just attach it with cable ties ?
Answer: If for some reason you can't remove the aluminum ring from the handle of your net you could get by. Kind of a red neck repair. zip ties can snag your line.
Answer: Yea I think zip ties would work just fine especially if you rolled it on the edges before you tied it. This net is pretty sturdy. I think you will be happy with it.
Answer: How do I know the size of what you have? If it's close the the size you ordered I don't see why not. Most nets you can unscrew one side and slip the old net off and the new one on.
Answer: Hello,
Answer: Lol if your willing. I'm not sure about width but it's prob 4 feet deep
Q:
Where can i view the instructions to put the new one on???
Answer: Take your hoop apart and take opened end of net and snake metal hoop through top and work it until it's all the way around
Answer: Try your net manufacturer’s website or YouTube.
Q:
My net frame measures 29 by 34 what size net would I need
Answer: I'd get the XL that fits a hoop diameter of 37-40". Being a little bigger will make it a lot easier to put on
Q:
Is the mesh fine enough to land pan-sized trout?
Answer: It should work fine for pan size trout
Answer: The legal minimum size trout here in Oregon is 8 inches and while we normally do not keep fish that small, the net will work on for trout of that size.
Answer: ive netted panfish, walleye, catfish, and small flat heads with this net. no holes from removing hooks yet
Answer: Yes
Q:
What size should I buy? My net frame is 30"s x30.5"s?
Answer: You might try the Large size (Diameter = 28"x30", Mesh = 3/4", Depth = 30") I believe the X-large is much to big (Diameter = 37"x40", Mesh = 3/4", Depth = 40")
Q:
I can't find the dimensions anywhere. what good is s,m,l,xl? i need the actual measurements.
Answer: Amazon needs to replace that s,m,l, xl on this page and replace with "Hoop diameter. small=18-20", m-20-24", l=28-30", xl=37-40". Once you figure out your hoop diameter, buy one of these. I got one last season for salmon fishing and it's great..
Answer: I bought the Large and it fit perfectly with room to spare on a 22x28 folding frame.
Answer: BTW, excellent net!
Q:
what is the circumference of this net?
Answer: It depends on what your fishing for, will decide what size you want . It’s a good net
Q:
What size do I need for a 20 x 18 frame?
Answer: 20”
Q:
I have a 30in hoop what size do I need
Answer: You would need the RN-501BR model, which would be the Large replacement net. That model will fit most hoop frames from 28" -30".
Answer: It would probably be the large size that you need
Q:
How wide and deep is the xlarge net
Answer: This net will fit a frame with a diameter of 37"-40" and is 40" in depth.
Answer: I laughed when I opened the net, it was so much bigger than I had imagined. However, we all love it when we reel in those 40 in. Snook!!!
Answer: These nets are huge. It says 40 inches and I’d have to agree
Answer: Can’t help don’t have the net
Q:
Do you have any with 1/4 inch mesh?
Answer: No
Answer: No
Q:
What size would I need for a Frabill 26x30
Q:
For folks who have had this net for a while, and have used it: is the rubber holding up well?
Answer: This net is holding up very good. I use it all year, winter fishing below the roller dams and summer fishing the river. It will be hard to find a better one. RG
Answer: Held up very good.
Q:
will extra large fit 38 inch hoop?
Answer: Yes, it will. I suggest you take a look at the Cumming's replacement net, It's much lighter, hook resistant and the opening's are larger so the hooks don't get tangled in them like they do with the smaller, more numerous openings in the Promar. I use it for salmon fishing, if that matters..
Q:
How i measure the Dip Net to see what size net I need to replace it with
Answer: Hi Jerry,
Q:
What is the size of the large nets I think y'all have the sizes backwards cus it shows the small net being the biggest
Answer: Should be listed in the specifications section.
Product reviews of Promar Hook Resist Replacement Net
Ronald A Brooks : These nets are really nice a huge upgrade from the nylon nets I had ...
These nets are really nice a huge upgrade from the nylon nets I had before. They are a pain to thread on but not impossible. I do think they should have added hints on renetting.
Emily Paine : Great net for the price!!!
Bought this net for my husband and he loves it. It's really great quality, especially for the price. Everything I saw in the stores that was remotely similar was double the price. It's definitely large and made with strong and durable material. My husband also loves that it isnt supposed to take the slime off of the fish, in case we catch something we're putting back. I'd highly recommend this net.
MERR : Great product!
Just what I was looking for!
David B. : Was a nice net but already ripping.
Worked well for as long as it did. Ripped pretty quickly around the sew points. Probably fixable but shouldn't really happen this quickly.
Snlphillips : Durable and doesn't tangle
Great net hoop. Durable and doesn't tangle. Holds up to a hundreds of albacore tuna. This is my 2nd promar net.
Jay L. : very good net
I really do like this net. It was easy to install, sheds hooks pretty well and is way lighter than full rubber nets
hal mathews : Five Stars
Very nice. really like this net
M. Conrad : Great net
Easy to put on. Took about 5 mins with 2 people.
Western One : This net was easy to install on my hoop
This net was easy to install on my hoop. It is so much lighter and has much less resistance in the water than the old knotted net. It is deep enough for netting large salmon without being ridiculous like some I have seen.
Hooks are easily removed. With the rubber coating, it is gentle to fish that are being released.
t1mb3rw0lf : Nice net!
This net has a wonderful feel and looks like it can hold bigger fish.
John F. : Promar Hook Resistant Replacement Net
Purchased this net to replace the string net on the frame of my handheld net I use for kayak fishing. The net is about 25" deep from the frame to the bottom. The width of the frame is about 14" and the length about 17". I am hoping to spend less time getting my hooks out of the net after scooping up a fish than with the old string net. After I take it fishing I'll let you know how it went.
Mike L : happy
ordered the 28" by exchanging the smaller net since smaller did not quite fit...no hassle or change on the exchange. shipping was fast....net boated fish...happy dance
Gonzalo A. : Nice product will see it
I see it very good bit I have to use it this semester and will know about it
behzad : Very Good Net
It is what I needed, but it killed me to put it on, I watch the video instruction many time , still took me a while to fit it. But I really like it now, have not had a chance to use it yet due to Covid-19 and lake closures. but I feel hopefully soon it will sho its quality.
PdxMotoXer : I have a older cheap RANGER net and this is a game changer
I have an older Ranger net and just got into trolling with dble trble hook crank baits and fish AND hooks used to be a nightmare the way they would get all tangled in the old knotted netting. After landing a fish (trout, bass, walleye, perch) I'd have to fight the wind being a single person in a 14ft boat while trying to get the hook and fish fins unstuck from my net!! I ordered this and its a bit big but i like that and was super easy to take out the two screws on the net, slip old netting off and slip this one on. Used it a few times and it's AWESOME!! Fish, Fish Fins and hooks do NOT get caught in this netting and it does soften up after few uses and it's 100% worth getting rid of old netting for this!!! I was ready to sell my whole net set up at garage sale and have to spend triple to get new net so hooks wouldn't stick but no need now!! Very nicely made and just an awesome deal!! Super Impressed.
Glen : Net is bigger then I expected.
Read several reviews before I bought. Many people wrote about how difficult it was to install because of sizing. So I went with one size up as my hoop measured right in the middle. Now the net is way to big. Not the sellers fault, but just consider this before purchasing.
Prosise : Pull the trigger, It is a very good buy. No BS! in TX
I have one of those older collapsible handle nets that is kind of triangular. The original net was a very fine nylon and felt kind of abrasive at the knots. We have cut many lines getting hooks out of the old net. We killed the net last week catching some big Carp & Buffalo. The net frame I have is about 34" tall and 26" across so I was concerned the med would be too small to install. Trying to determine what size I needed made me scratch my head a couple times. I opted for the large net, when installed it had some bunching but works better than I expected. No BS, I told my son a couple times yesterday that the net was the way to go. Wish I had one like this a long time ago. The deep net is nice because you can leave the fish in the water while you get things ready. The water drag is more than my old net material but there was no problem. Don't do many reviews but when I am surprised by an item it is worth it to share the info. We weighed several fish at the 20 pound mark by hooking the net handle onto the scale and the net didn't have any problem. The Depth is deeper than I would expect but is surprisingly very helpful.
Elkhrn Hiker : PROMAR HOOK RESIST REPLACEMENT NET
I USED THIS PRODUCT TO REPLACE AND ROTTED NET. I USED THE EXISTING NET FRAME AND WHILE IT WAS A BIT OF A STRUGGLE TO INSTALL, I DID AND IT WORKED OUT GREAT. GOOG PRODUCT!
J.S. : Good, not great
"small" size is a good fit on my 19" frame. Nice deep net bag which will be sufficient for panfish to steelhead. As simple to install as any other replacement net- not sure why people report difficulty installing or removing nets, basic simple geometry. Take note that the nylon fabric and stitching used to sew together the net bag is NOT PLASTIC COATED. The netting itself is coated but not the stitching. Hooks will end up caught in the stitching. Will have to see how much of a pain that is compared to the rubber net this replaced.
Amazon Customer : Easy to install
Great ptoduct!
Beanz : More than worth the price!
I got the Medium to replace the nylon bag on a brand new net. The hoop measured 22" long and 20" side to side. It took some doing having to bend the hoop ends past each other while feeding the net on and working it around. Well worth the 15 minutes effort. I already netted my biggest saugeye 25" with it and easy on the fish which was released. Any bigger hoop, I would go to Large size.
Pierre Delvaux : Net did great
The net held up while fishing king salmon Their teeth didn’t cut the net
Keith A. : Impossible to install!
I bought the correct size. It's not easy to put on at all. I ended up breaking my frame after struggling with it for over 25 minutes towards the last 25% of the net. Of course, I watched the video. Like everything they make it look so easy! I should have taken the money and just bought a whole new net!
AA : Excellent Replacement Netting!
Great replacement netting at a reasonable price. The material seems to be durable and was not too difficult to install. It took me 15 mins and a little patience to complete the installation. This netting was a perfect fit. I used it once already and had no hook snags. The netting also did not add too much weight for one person to easily handle. It came as advertised and on time.
Lindsey M. : Great Net
These are great replacement bags rubber coated to protect the Fish and a great price. I will replace all my net bags with these bags cant beat them. When istalling you just have to work it around the hoop and when it starts getting real tight cross the net bars that attach to the handles as you cross them you can move the replacement bag onto the hoop
Kindle Customer : Sizing
Runs large for the sizes read all the other reviews.
Amazon Customer : Great product
Great product at great price. Fast shipping too.
Lake Pan Man : Difficult to install on my landing net hoop, but, once completed, it is a nice bag.
I almost gave up on this, but, persisted until I found a way to complete it. There were no instructions included with the bag or online... (Shame on the seller). I took the time to draw these illustrations in hopes of helping someone. This is a product review, not a seller review, therefore I have given 5 stars. If I was reviewing the seller, it would probably be 3 or 4 stars.
Gordon L. : Fit my 40' x 37' hoop perfectly.
You must be patient putting on the hoop, but the fit is superb. I'll add more once I put a few salmon in it!
BGoetz : Five Stars
Work perfectly for me handles.
David B. : Was a nice net but already ripping.
Worked well for as long as it did. Ripped pretty quickly around the sew points. Probably fixable but shouldn't really happen this quickly.

Brad Bailey : Best upgrade for a net possible
Arrived very fast in perfect condition I suggest to watch the video to install it once installed you will want to upgrade every net you own with these products had no trouble getting big pike in the medium size net my buddy borrowed the net and after an hour he ordered his own highly highly recommend this product and seller
Amazon Customer : GREAT NET RE[LACEMENT
REPLACED MY SALMON NET. EXCELLENT. THE BARBED HOOKS WERE EASILY REMOVABLE.

Amazonion : Watch the product video.
Ordered the Large bag for my Large Beckman Net. The measurement looked good and comparison when I received it was ok, but this net is very difficult to put on. I was on the verge of kinking my frame throughout the process. BUT I GOT IT. Many will give up I think. I think going a size up would have been too saggy for me. Watch the video in the add and don't be thinking you'll get it on in 15 or 20 minutes like he says. I have used the net and it is very nice. Not as many tangles. I have since replaced my Walleye net and Trout net and they were difficult too but worth it I think. I believe if they added a couple inches in circumference to all their sizes it would help a bunch.
Ginger Weimer : Good Choice
We looked at several sporting goods stores and couldn't find the net we needed. Should have known to check Amazon first! It was a little challenging getting it on but that's how it's suppose to be... Good quality... Happy with our purchase!
dare : Very good, semi-stiff net
Much, much better than regular treaded net. Medium fits 19-20 with 22-24 inch frame. Now it's time to put some fish in and check durability.
MNPilot : Great replacement net!!
I needed to replace my Frabil net bag and wanted one that would reduce cut fins and help keep the fish healthy while taking out the hooks. This bag replaced a Frabil Power Catch and it fit perfectly. I was worried about getting this net on the hoop consider all the issues I heard, but it was actually pretty easy once you got going. I had the bend the one arm down a bit to get the net on and feed it, but after a couple of minutes I got the hang of it and was done before you knew it. I'll have some on the water testing here in the next couple weeks and report back.
Edit: This net is awesome. I have replaced all of my nets with these and they work flawless. The net handled all types of fish from Walleyes to 47" muskies with no problems at all. Get light net that kept the fish in the bag safe and prevent fin cuts. I even replaced the Frabil net on my folding net and now I have a great panfish net that won't get hooks caught in it which is why that net sat in the garage for two years.
Eric, Michigan : Much lighter than a pure rubber net
Last year I replaced my old nylon net with a solid rubber net 20"x24", the first time I netted a 20" Walleye using an 8 ft fishing rod I realized that the rubber Frabil replacement net was way too heavy. Controlling the rod and reaching out with this crazy heavy net was a real pain. This net may not be as robust as the Frabil, but it sure is lighter. The Frabil is also more expensive. So for a little more than the price of a Frabil I purchased two of these incase it wears out. I am positive that this was the right replacement net for me. As for ease of putting the replacement on the hoop, any net is hard to replace so, took a bit but I figured it out. Hence people needing instructions and not knowing how to replace the net most likely weren't sure they needed a screw driver to remove the screws that hold the hoop to the handle. I am not sure you could even create instructions that someone would under stand, either you have intuition or you don't.
I think that I will really like this net. Hope it lasts for a while, seems to be good quality.
Aaron Grimes : EGO S2 Perfect Replacement - Medium
I have a EGO S2 landing net that had the conservation rubber netting. After many years of use and BIG inshore saltwater fish my rubber net started to fatigue. I replaced the original with the Promar Hook resist Medium size and it was a perfect fit. It took a little convincing to get the Promar net on but that was expected. I like that the Promar net was deeper than the orignial EGO net. I haven't had the opportunity to use the replacement net, but plan to this weekend. Inital thoughts on the replacement net from Promar are above expectations. The look, feel and overall quality of the product is nice. The biggest thing I already noticed was the amount of weight saved from switching from the heavy rubber netting. I will provide update after I spend some time on the water.
R.A : Great replacement net
I've got the Large version for my 32"x27" salmon net and it fit just perfect. The net looks well made and the price is right. It is deep enough to hold a large salmon no doubt about it. The netting is rubberized (coated nylon), knot free, and promises to be less tangle prone and gentler on the fish, but this i will see once i put it to use this spring. The mesh holes are smaller compared to my old nylon net, I am hoping that won't make it more difficult to move the net in the water. Overall the net will be a bit heavier than before but other advantages makes this a much better option especially for releasing fish as I don't always keep the salmon i catch. Will update this review for actual performance and long term durability.
Kindle Customer : ,ready to fish.
this net was a perfect fit on my net frame.
bob g. : Don’t know why I waited so long to buy
Wish I bought this years ago. I use it for salmon fishing and hooks definitely don’t stick in the mesh. Doesn’t seem heavier than the Beckman bag I previously had been using either
Tom Toro : Replaced my netting and it is fantastic with the rubber
Caught some pike and bass with my new replacement netting and it was much easier to remove the lure from the net. Used to be a nightmare. I did another net just in case. Great price too.
behzad : Very Good Net
It is what I needed, but it killed me to put it on, I watch the video instruction many time , still took me a while to fit it. But I really like it now, have not had a chance to use it yet due to Covid-19 and lake closures. but I feel hopefully soon it will sho its quality.
Rick Hoskins : Salmon net
Won’t harm wild fish when netting

"small" size is a good fit on my 19" frame. Nice deep net bag which will be sufficient for panfish to steelhead. As simple to install as any other replacement net- not sure why people report difficulty installing or removing nets, basic simple geometry. Take note that the nylon fabric and stitching used to sew together the net bag is NOT PLASTIC COATED. The netting itself is coated but not the stitching. Hooks will end up caught in the stitching. Will have to see how much of a pain that is compared to the rubber net this replaced.
