what size rod does this go well with?

Answer: I put mine on a 6ft light casting rod with a fast action tip.

Will this reel work with 4lb line and 1/16th oz jigs?

Answer: The reel can physically cast it but the 4 lb line will get caught between the frame and spool. There is a substantial gap between the frame and spool

How do you change out the spools? I got no instructions and all I can see is to remove a lot of little screws. There's got to be an easier way!

Answer: There is a thumb screw on the handle side just above the drag star. Loosen the that screw all the way(it does not come out) that will loosen the side plats then the side plate will twist to in lock it then pull it off to access the spool.

Answer: Did not like it! Check it out and was not pleased with it. Through back in the box it is still setting where I toss it.

Now that's a true bargain. 6 lb mono and one adjustment was all it took to set this baby up. Super smooth bfs with a great price tag. I didn't expect much but this thing can cast a mile. Handles super light lures and baits like a champ. Very good drag ,smooth and predictable. If your not rich like I'm not and want to put together a working BFS rig consider this reel.

Good: smooth, lightweight, accurate, good finish, consistent, spool tension knob has oil washer!

Bad (if price was around $80): frame is plastic, side plate cross pin instead of lever lock. 4lb test line or smaller can get caught in frame. Plastic not graphite or PA66.

FULL REVIEW:
They must have upped their manufacturing game based on other reviews I saw. I took a chance and am glad I did! I can also see why there are so many bad reviews. You need to properly adjust this reel! Realize that the braking system isn't as strong as other full size spool reels due to the light lure BFS nature. The spool spins so effortlessly, that you'll overrun the spool if you don't set it right. You can freely spin the spool under no load for 6 to 7 seconds! When tension is set, it still spins smoothly and effortlessly but with good tension allowing my light 1/16oz lures to cast FAR! with consistency. The brake plate has 5 magnets, with 5 empty spaces on the opposite side. (perhaps on other models or versions has 10 magnets). I think it's due to it being a true bfs reel.

Dosent cast to the left like other BFS reels I have. I'm using 4lb test florocarbon and it does get caught between spool and frame if the birdsnest is too large. This reel is lightweight and sits well on the rod.

The side plate is removable by a plastic spring loaded cross pin instead of a lever release. I do wish it was a beefier pin with less flex.

I really hope this reel lasts, as it has such a high initial impression. For the price you CANT beat it. I bought another to see if quality is consistent, and they are! Interestingly enough, I saw another full size reel that is exactly the same design but a different brand. I'll try that one too to see if quality is consistent across brands.

Plastic is not fiberglass reinforced, but not bad either. It is an inexpensive reel that looks, feels, and performs at a much higher level.

Absolute junk. Do not waste money on this reel. Been attempting to cast it for the past 2 hours and it birds nest in mid air everytime no matter how much you adjust the brakes. Brake system doesn't work at all!!!! Waste of time

Excellent reel for the money! Used this to get a 17.5 inch large mouth in Michigan a few weeks ago. Love how smooth it is!

Gizmoluv : Don't do it!!

Not a good reel! Not being able to use small diameter line makes it useless. You simply cannot cast it without a backlash! The breaks are extremely weak, there is too much space between the spool and side plate.

As much as I want to find a budget BFS reel that doesn't cost several hundred dollars and imported I'll just have to wait. I want to enjoy fishing not spend my trip dealing with this thing!

its ok for 40$. you get what you pay for. fit and finish not super but 40$ worth. Drag is a bit wacky. 4lbs floro gets stuck between spool and reel when an overrun happens, so pick it all out or risk the line.

I like this reel very much it’s lite weight but feels quality made. Only caught one fish on it a bowfin so far held up well. Haven’t had any issues with it and very affordable. It was on sale when I bought very happy with purchase.

PJMartinthemom : Lightweight Smooth Casting Reel

My husband is an avid fisherman. He is very particular about his reels that he uses. He likes the fact that this is a lightweight spool. It actually comes with an extra spool...one is shallow and the other deep. It comes with a nice drawstring bag to store the reel in.
He says it casts great! He loaded it up with 20 lb. braid and he said no problems. A very smooth reel. He says that the drag seemed smooth too when he pulled on it. He is excited to try it out on the water soon instead of just testing it out in the backyard LOL! It also comes with 6 little crappie paddle tail grubs that the bass really like.

This product is good value and has mid-grade workmanship. Pretty smooth, although it takes some experience to cast it good. Practice makes perfect. Still prefer name brands, but this gets the job done. I hope it holds up well. Recommend.

Adam Mihara : Not a BFS Reel

As the cheapest "BFS" reel on Amazon I didn't have high hopes for this reel. When it arrived I was happy with the packaging and look of the reel. The frame is plastic which flexes and feels cheap. It is extremely light in the hand and on the rod. The bearings are fairly smooth and it came well lubricated. My major issue is with casting. Tossing light crankbaits causes a backlash every 5 casts or so and any line thinner than 10lb test mono will slip between the spool and the frame. This causes VISIBLE DAMAGE to the line. Can I cast a 1/16oz bait? Yes. Will it destroy your line in the process? Also yes. As a BFS offering, I cannot endorse or support the purchase of this reel. If you need a bottom dollar option for thick line fishing, it will work fine.

I wasn't expecting much, but how wrong I was! Solid build, smooth retrieve, reliable controls. Used one day whole day. Haven't found any issue yet. Impressed by the smooth casting feel. Quality beats the price!
