Will it work for catfish

Answer: Yes, because it takes 12lb.test line, and has a 30lb. drag, for pulling the fish in. And this is a salt water fishing reel, so it should do real good in fresh water,that's where you get catfish. Good fishing!

Answer: I have not specifically used it for catfish but have pulled in several 5-6 lb bass, with no problems, it'd a well made robust reel.

Answer: If you're getting the 6.4:1 SD1HL then it's left handed. But as you said SD1XH, 8.0:1 will be right handed. People answering these questions aren't being clear on which reel they are getting, and so it's confusing with answers of yes it LH and yes it's RH. Hope this clears it up.

Hi is the 6.4 model a left hand?

Answer: Any Lew's reel that is left-handed will show L and the end of the model number. So a 6.4 Super Duty would be either SD1H (right hand) or SD1HL (left hand). I accidentally bought a lefty off Amazon and sent back for refund.

Answer: Yes, it is left handed. I did not realize it until I received it in the mail and had to return it.

I purchased this reel at a reduced price through amazon warehouse deals and I am extremely pleased, the reel was open box but unused. This is my first baitcaster reel, very easy to set-up and I haven't had any trouble with backlash. I paired this reel with an Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0, 7 ft med/ heavy rod that I am very pleased with as well. I almost purchased a Abu Garcia revo s that has good reviews as but I have no regrets over getting this one instead. The reel feels very solid and I expect it to last for many years with proper maintenance. I plan to stick with Lew's reels after being so impressed with this on. Don't be afraid to give amazon warehouse deals a chance just make sure your read their comments about condition if its says "like new" then its new with open box.
