Answer: Should work. I have never ice fished. Don't know how big the fish would be, but I would not have any trouble using one for ice fishing. You just may have to vary the line strength.

Answer: I think there is a small metal plate attached to the spool.

Answer: put the bait your useing on the pole adjust the knob until it just starts to fall if it falls to fast that where your getting your backlash

What makes this model any different that the lb200l which i love. do you know or have list of specs for fishdrop reels?

Answer: The lb200L is for a left handed person and the one I have is lb200R. It is for a right handed person. They come with a schematic, but don't have any specs. Only that it is a bearing, a screw, or whatever. You would have to take it all apart and measure the bearings, etc. Bearings are measured ID-OD-Thickness(inside diameter-outside diameter-thickness).

Does it trasition well from light tackle to heavy tackle well with the mag brake settings? How is the backlash?

Answer: So I am using it right now with predominantly heavy tackle, I would say that it does not handle light tackle that well but heavy tackle is really where it shines, (anything 3/4th ounce and above). The backlash can be nasty though if it is really windy but after awhile of casting and getting used to the reel, it works excellently! The braking system also works really well! I have mine predominant set at 6.

Answer: This reel is incredibly durable and I have not had any problems with it!

I bought this reel for bass fishing instead of buying an academy reel that was much pricier. I liked the gold on carbon look and hoped it looked as good in person. The documents are all in Chinese but the reel is great quality and functions well, I equipped mine with 30lb test braided line and have fished twice with it and it did very well for the cost

It is about as good as every other chinese reel in this price range. My only issue is if you get a birds nest or the line gets loose on the spool it will get stuck between the spool and the body jamming it up. I have never had this issue on any other rods but if you never birdsnest your line youll never have this problem.

Opening the box, the presentation of the packaging was very nice. The reel looks just as nice in person (got two ooohs from my daughters) than in the advertisement. Everything's in place and work as they should. Did some casting to get it dialed in and it performed well. Have to test it against some 17"- 25" fighters. Also thanks for the enclosed bag with the FISHDROPS logo on it. Nice!

Bought it for under $20 on Amazon deal of the day. Really more as a joke. Put it on a rod and took it to a buddy’s house to try it out. He’s a total label whore. Spooled with 20lb braid, had him cast it. Didn’t tell him the price, he played with it for a while and said it was his favorite reel that i owned. I have revos kastling speed demon pro.... Then i told him what i paid for it. After months of fishing. Catching largemouths smallmouth and stripers with it. I feel like an idiot paying 10 times the price for reels that really aren’t smoother, backlash more and definitely are worth their price vs this one. Some deals of the day are winners, some are losers. This is definitely a WIN!!! Buy it!!!

I have been fishing many years and have used several brands of reels. Zebco was always one of my favorites growing up. I watched some videos of some of the new reels out there these days and decided to try this one. Boy am I glad I did. This is a great reel for your money. I would put it up against some of the more expensive big brand names that's twice the price of this one. I am so happy with it that I would probably buy another one this summer.

I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Had maybe ten casts where the reel worked. I don't hnow how, but it crosses the line when you reel in. So the majority of casts we're about fifteen feet and then it would hot one of the crossovers and snap the lure. I finally threw the thing into the water and went to Walmart for a cheap reel that would still work. This thing is worth maybe five dollars if you plan to jig off a dock. Don't buy any of this Chinese crap.

I bought this Reel With no expectations and now that I have used it for an entire season I can honestly say I am more impressed with its performance than any other. I am a salt water angler off the Texas coast and this reel has been put to the test with several other competitors from the usual three on amazon up to a couple $200+ reels and this is what I have found: compared to the advanced drag and mag systems it has about 85-90 % casting distance (less than 1/2 ounce total weight ) other than that factor it has outlasted the big brands and has handled the bigger fish with the same action of the big brand names. great drag system, very durable bearings, and excellent spool tracking! mix all those things with a year of salt water and I could not have been happier with my 34 dollar purchase, its been almost a year and the reel sits on a $259 rod as my first string QB!
