Answer: Its a nice reel.. id buy another one. It has a nice smooth spinning action. I catch small lake trout using mine and I have 0 problems doing so.

Answer: After 2 outings, 2 of our 3 reels became unusable as the bearings seized. Returned all 3.

Answer: I've had mine for 6months now and still works like it did the day I got it. It's becoming one of my favorite reels I got.

Answer: Excellent quality......especially for the price. I use it in saltwater environment all the time and give it a light rinse afterwards (most of the time). Never had a problem. It has always retained its smoothness and functionality. The extra spool, even if it is plastic, is very handy if you're into changing line weights or line types.

Answer: Its actually made well, very solid. I have 20lb braided line and a 30lb mono leader. I use it for cast fishing and sheepshead fishing, fortunately i caught 27 in red drum, flounder and trout. Its a good buy and a solid purchase.

Answer: No. But I've never found any reel, cheap or expensive, to be loud. I'm more concerned about a reel's smoothness. This one is very smooth......doesn't wobble or display erratic behavior while retrieving. And the drag behaves smoothly as well. It's an excellent value reel. Of course, if you can afford it, buy one of the more expensive Shimano or Daiwa reels. They are on a whole new level.

Answer: In my opinion, no. This is a 3000 size reel. You should go with at least a 5000 reel for line capacity and balance on that heavy surf rod. Not convinced? Go to any tackle shop and ask about hanging a 3000 size reel on a 12 ft surf rod. They will be amused.

Answer: It should work I have 2 of them and there all metel it comes with an extra plastic spool but the one on it is metel great reel

Answer: It’s a great quality reel the only issue I have with it is since using it I’ve noticed while reeling in the handle sometimes taps against the metal part you flip on the reel as it’s spinning. Just kind of annoying. It is not plastic I would think it will work for that purpose.

For the price & I got it on sale. It was a great purchase. Avid fisherman & own 16 rods & reels. This 1 was a steal. If I see it on sale again I'm gonna pull the trigger & get another 1. Paired it with a Berkley BSLR802UL ultra light rod & this reel kicks ass. Loaded it with 8lb test Trilene mono. Casts very well & retrieve extremely smooth. Drag is on point. I have no complaints whatsoever. I am blessed to live in Modesto, Ca & fish all over the San Francisco Delta, Bay & Offshore as well. Hats off to Magreel. They know how to build an inexpensive reel that I find to be just as good as the reels costing much more $. Thx

I used this in Florida for saltwater fishing. Based on the description it sounded like it woukd handle the corrosive nature of the saltwater at least for a few weeks. Found that it started to grind and lock up. I tried to lubricate it a number of timea but it it did not help much. I am still able to use it but it will not last more than 1 or 2 seasons at best. Dont use it for saltwater fishing.

I bought 2 of these reels, one for my daughter for rock fishing, and one for my brother for lagoon and river fishing.

Pros:
So far, they have both been used twice and performed well in both saltwater, and freshwater. Good action, smooth wind and return. The bail feels sturdy and seems to handle abuse from a 10 year old well. Drag works as it should, easy fine adjustment on the top.

Cons:
Foam grip, not a fan, but my daughter and brother dont mind. Sometimes the bail hit my brother hand when receiving as well, so hand placement might depend on the pole its strapped onto. Not a big deal because it was intermittent, and he has big paws. Comes with a second plastic spool. The spool on the reel is metal. Nice to have a second spool, but probably wont use it since its plastic.

Overall, good reel worth the money. I was honestly impressed because it feels solid. It rivals my okuma which was double the price. We will see how it holds up in the long run.

The only reason I didn't give it a perfect 5 star review is because the extra spool it comes with is not of the same build quality (it is made of plastic and has plastic tension spring inside of it). Other than that the only minor preference I would have is that the handle end would have a rubber coating instead of a foam one. All in all it is a great reel and should perform well when landing that massive fish!

Sleek and comfortable design. Foam handle and metal arm are much sturdier than the plastic alternatives that many reels at this price come standard with. Easily adjustable for either right or left handed fishing. First time loading your line is super smooth and fills the entire height of the spool to prevent any tangles. Works great with braided line. Locking arm comes lubricated and firmly sets after casting. Adjustable drag responds nicely at all settings. Highly recommend this reel for any occasion.
