Q:
Is the lead weights 1 pound each?
Answer: Should be 1 pound per foot.
Answer: the weights are plastic not lead and not heavy at all . No value as a bait net in saltwater ,will sink too slow and bait will laugh at you as they leave free .
Answer: The 12 ft I got is 0.75lb per ft
Answer: Not sure how much each one is. The overall net isn't too heavy
Q:
is it legal in california
Q:
Can anyone tell me exactly what half mesh size is exactly referring too?

Q:
Would you recommend this net for mullet?
Answer: No. 3/4" , 1"or larger 1.5" mesh, this net listed is for pilchards or greenbacks/threadfins, i use a 3/4 " custom 1.6lbs lead per foot 15' net for mullet here in sw florida. Remember a 1/4" net has a strech of 3/8 to 1/2"
Answer: Thats all I use it for, but the 3/8" mesh is large for the smaller mullet and they get stuck in it. The mullet this morning were between 4 and 8", two casts into the school and I had bait for 6 guy's all day.... This one is great, it has a 32' tag line which I need because I can throw that far without spooking them...
Answer: Not for finger mullet . the weights are plastic and it will sink to slow . Junk
Answer: You need a larger mesh size for mullet. This mesh size is 3/8", primarily for bait fish.
Q:

Answer: I use mine to catch finger mullet, have caught them up to 12” with no problem
Answer: Yes I was able to catch small about 2in up to 4in shad.

Wanting to buy a faster sinking net for my boyfriend. Does this sink fairly quick?
Answer: I would say that it is Fairley fast at about the speed of the other nets that I have. I am pleased with it and thinks it works well.
Answer: Yes and has a long rope so that if needed you can go deep for bait.
Q:
Hello. how is this net shipped? in box, bucket or other wrapping, thank you.

Q:
We plan to use this for small shad capture in fresh water, is 3/8 mesh too large?

Answer: Yes, there are illustrated instructions in the package to tell how to throw the net. ^^
Answer: I am not sure. I already knew how to cast the nets so I didn't bother looking for instructions. I know that there are numerous videos on how to cast a net. ask google or Amazon.

i am looking for a nylon 7 foot by 1/2" mesh weighted cast net. does any one know where i can buy one?
Answer: Sorry
Q:
Does this work better than a fishing pole? Do I need anything with the net?
Answer: The net is for bait fish. I do not use it in replacement of a fishing pole I use it for bait for my fishing pole. Works great!
Answer: Usually used to catch bait fish, for catching larger fish on lines.
Q:
Are the 3/4 lb weights on the 12ft Goture Great American saltwater cast net are real lead?
Answer: As far as I can tell they are lead. Any cast net I have ever owned had lead weights if not they would rust and that is not good for a cast net or any net.
Q:
Would this be a suitable net that I can rescue injured, but still mobile water birds with ? From shallow water or from the beach.
Answer: Not having had experience with rescuing injured birds, but I can see that the cast net will be effective and good for retrieving injured birds. With practice you will a have a greater reach and range than with long handled scoop nets. I imagine you will find it fun. The cast net should be a least 6 feet in height, and 8 footer would probably be better but you will have to contend with the cast net being heavier.
Q:
It says the bottom is taped but does not show tape in the pictures so I am unclear as to whether or not it is taped.
Q:
whether can I buy a warranty?
Answer: I think that only the seller can offer a warranty. If you are looking for a warranty whether the net will catch fish, you are out of luck.
Answer: I have no idea
Q:
can this be used in fresh water for shad?
Answer: It can be used anywhere you want
Answer: Yes i use in fresh water for shad and small blue gill
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is it good for shrimping ?
Answer: I have caught shrimp in this net when trying to catch mullet but have never targeted shrimp specifically.
Answer: Yes I think so. Although I never tried shrimping with it. My net has 3/8” mesh. Maybe you might need smaller mesh net.
Answer: Yes, it is good for catching any type of live bait.
Q:
are the holes small enough making this good for catching shrimp?
Answer: If I had to guess, I would say no. It works well for greenbacks but I would not target anything smaller. Some greenbacks get gilled on this mesh size.
Q:
does it use lead weights or plastic coated metal
Answer: Hi, the net uses heavy lead weights, definitely not plastic coated metal.
Answer: plastic coated lead
Q:
Is this only for saltwater? Can it be used in lakes etc???
Answer: If is built for saltwater then it should be adequate for lake water
Answer: We’ve used it for both.
Q:
Listing shows a plastic bucket & lid w/ net, but multiple older reviews say no plastic storage bucket, just a cardboard box. Do nets have one now?
Answer: There is no bucket. Net came in a plastic wrapper with tape.
Answer: Mine came with the plastic bucket!
Answer: Mine came with the plastic bucket and lid
Answer: No bucket or lid
Q:
my 6 year old grandson wants this, what size would be good for him?
Answer: Got a 6 year old the smallest you can get.
Answer: We purchased this for our grandchildren as well. My 11 year old had a hard time using it as well as the younger ones. It was kind of a waste.
Answer: A small radius like 3ft to start. With 3/8 or bigger squares.
Q:
Where is it made?
Q:
can this be used in fresh water for shad?

Answer: 1 TO 2 LB SMALL TO A MEDIUM NET SIZE HAPPY FISHING
Answer: It is strong enough for mullets and sardin
Q:

Could someone tell me the # of feet from the blue part to the the weights at the bottom of the net? T. Y.

Product reviews of Goture American Saltwater Fishing Cast Net for Bait Trap Fish 3ft/4ft/6ft/8ft/10ft/12ft Radius, 3/8inch Mesh Size
STEVEN V. : Five Stars
Works as well as any other net I have ever thrown.
C. Smags : Great cast net for the price
Great cast net for the price, have had no issues with it yet while using it all summer long to catch bait fish. Much cheaper then the local b&m stores around here.
Bezli : Durable and lightweight
Anglers all around the world know in their heart that good fishing gear can take the overall experience to a great new height. Cast nets are incredibly popular for bait fishing and they have been in the fishing scenario for ages. Cast nets date back to 1000 B.C and you can find its reference in the Bible, too. Fascinating, right?
A cast net is thrown into a specific place in the water over a targeted area. When the net lands on the water it starts sinking because of the lead weights. The lead line eventually forms an enclosed area where fishes are caught. Cast net fishing is a lot different than fly fishing, ice fishing, or other kinds of fishing styles.
Cast nets help to catch a school of fish altogether and these nets are adored by the fishermen as they are a lot more convenient and efficient than the other methods. Fishermen can catch more fishes at a single go rather than just catching one like a fishing rod.
I haven't used it yet but it is a well-constructed cast net. Material Is strong and seems durable. The rope is thin but seems strong enough to hold the net full of bait. Great material and quality. Can't wait to use it. They are handmade and the mesh is made with copolymer monofilament. The strong nylon fiber will provide a powerful bearing and the long 30ft PE braid hand-line helps to cast even further.
The braid hand-line also diminishes the risk of losing the net in the sea or river as it will be attached to my hand. When the Goture is thrown, it takes the shape of a parabola in the air and once it falls on water, it takes a circular shape that catches the bait more easily.
The mesh has a size of 3/8” which can successfully accommodate most bait fishes. Once the net is thrown in the water, it sinks super-fast due to the loads attached to it. These loads form a tight bottom seal which creates a closure and restricts the baits from moving out.
Shaun O. : Excellent quality net
This is a quality casting net. Easy to throw and clearly well made. The storage bucket is very handy as well.
Joe : The one I got was 5ft instead of 6ft which is a bummer but..
It works and it does what its suppose to regardless of it being misleading.
Amazon Customer : Too light for bunker
It's a solid net, but the 6ft 3/8 inchm 2.3 kg isnt heavy enough to catch bunker except in very shallow water. It doesnt sink fast enough. This is probably meant for much smaller bait fish.
Paul Randy Roberts : That it is slower than advertised
I'm going to use it for catching bait, the net is slow sinking, was led to believe it sunk faster, I'm disappointed in that going to have to figure way to add weight to it
Amazon Customer : broke off in 1 use
broke off the top in 1 use
Azharul islam : Damage inside of the net!! I want refund
It can no longer be used unless the inside of the net is very badly damaged!! I want my refund
Joel Fernandez : Five Stars
Great product and great saler! Thanks
Joe : The one I got was 5ft instead of 6ft which is a bummer but..
It works and it does what its suppose to regardless of it being misleading.
clevenij : Awesome
Great product
V. : Do not buy - Does not work and “American” name is deceptive
The name says American but it is Chinese. Instructions are incomplete and the weights are not heavy enough to sink quickly enough to catch any fish.
D Hustle : Sniper
Throws very far. Caught a couple of 5 lb bass with the 4 ft version. Best caster out there.
Will Guscio : It would be great if she takes to it quickly---- The net looks ...
Bought the 4' net for my 5 year old daughter to teach her how to cast in the saltwater creeks in the Lowcountry of SC. It would be great if she takes to it quickly---- The net looks bulky and it looks like a "Fish"er Price type net at first but then you study it- then- like an Apple product commercial in my mind, form follows function, plastic coatings on the weights and the collar system glide the net through the water with ease and now I'm studying the 12' net for deep hole casting for major shrimp hauls in season.
Matt D. : Garbage quality
I have had about 6 cast nets over the years... all have lasted until literally ripped apart from old age or from oysters. (Oysters are our Lowcountry double edged sword, they provide all the fish, but unfriendly to boats and nets...) The quality of this net is garbage. Many reasons... The mono lines are not securely tied to the perimeter line... i have had several simply pull off from terrible knots, so on the boat I'm not catching bait, I'm retying mono. There are not ENOUGH of them, for my 6 foot net, there is one every two feet on the perimeter, so there are a lot of coverage gaps when collapsing the net on first pull. The perimeter nylon line itself came untied, breaking the circle... once again, I'm on the boat retying nets instead of catching bait. Then the ring in the center of the net holding all the mono lines is cheap and has come unsnapped and likely to have a short lifespan. do NOT buy this net.
Jonix : Works good.
Casting net works well. Th weights on tue net is actually cool. Its like heavy plastic. I caught multiple fish in a single cast. Good for bait fish.
The bucket can be useful. I put there the fish that i caught.
Price of the net is reasonable. Good quality net.
tom123 : Best net
12 ft net is huge. Recommend starting with smaller net. I caught bunker of all sizes in net. Up too 150 peanuts per cast. Great net no complaints.
Jeff Porter : Well made
Well constructed easy to open when throwing it.
Michael C. : Practice before you go and use
Haven't used it yet but feel pretty well built
Robert : Good net for them money.
Quality feel, great net.
Joe : The one I got was 5ft instead of 6ft which is a bummer but..
It works and it does what its suppose to regardless of it being misleading.
Jeff Porter : Well made
Well constructed easy to open when throwing it.
Sam L : Good Customer Service
Unfortunately had an issue with the net but was thankfully helped by customer service. Thank you guys!
rafi ahmed : Strings are not good quality.
ok product. Strings are not good quality.
Holly D. : He said use good material fast ship good quality
He said use good material fast ship good quality
Joel Fernandez : Five Stars
Great product and great saler! Thanks
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
Good product
William G Dennis : Five Stars
looking forward to using this product great quality
Ismail : Five Stars
Excellent
Sam Sheffield : Doesn’t sink fast at all
It works great in 3-5 feet of water but does not sink fast at all. I like the design but the brail lines seem to get warped and more likely to get tangled up after trip even though it gets properly cleaned and stored. Don’t think I would buy that spec net again
Tony : durable
good quality
john : Worked great casting for bait off our dock
Make sure you're throwing it in sand or grassy areas, this can't take shell beds! It does like to cling to them though
12-22-19 update I've used the bait net all year fishing from my kayak, and throwing it from docks, boats, etc . . and it's held up very well with only a couple of holes from shell beds which I fixed. I've used it almost every time I've fished and I keep it in the tub on the back of my kayak. It's been all over Florida this year. I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom of the tub so it can drain, and when I fish salt water I rinse it with a hose in the tub, let it drain then I spread it on the driveway to dry. I'm also going to add some foam to the sides of the tub in case it gets dumped from the kayak
Brian P : Great for shad
Very good deal for catching bait fish. First use in 20 minutes and a 5 gallon bucket filled. does not tangle, and is durable so long as you do not try to yank from a stump. Would buy again.
ColonelSan : USED&ABUSED=A+
I’ve tried every single cast net on amazon(I am not exaggerating) and this is the only one that survived multiple uses, snags. This net has caught me what I needed and more. What a buy. It finally snapped on me like they all do. Time for another
Wihunting : Not bad
Hard to use not the products fault just hard to cast unless you put part in your mouth.
Robert : Good net for them money.
Quality feel, great net.
benjamin ilagan : Waisted money
Broke so quickly in one use
Auvishek : Great Buy
This is really good for catching crab
Amazon Customer : Thin line and too small of a needle.
Too small, not what I expected
Jeff Porter : Well made
Well constructed easy to open when throwing it.
Michael C. : Practice before you go and use
Haven't used it yet but feel pretty well built
Tttmmmmccccdddd : Would buy again
Great quality would buy again
DCB : Very good cast net
Very good cast net, but I do have an issue with the instructions that are included; they recommend placing part of the net in your teeth. Terrible advice and frankly, even tossing it over your shoulder isn't needed with the smaller nets.
Kelli Ann Abraham : Cheap product
My son used it once and it ripped
becky shotwell : Five Stars
Works great.
James D. Porter : Average Quality, Average Throw
I was excited to get a bigger net. I like the size. I like the weight. I like the quickness that it sinks. Its a good net. However, after using it for one day in quite smooth sand, it developed a rig near the weights. This is light use in ideal conditions. I just expected it to be sturdier. I think it will work ok, but I don't expect it to last long.
critter : Five Stars
Great for shallows.
Timothy P. : Poor quality. Don’t buy
Second time using this net the rope snapped off the wristlet. Lost the whole net into the water and was unable to recover. Rope was poorly sewn into the wristlet unfortunately. Worst part was that it was the only bait opportunity we had on a trip that was planned for months. Extremely disappointed group of anglers. Will look for a better quality cast net in the future.
rafi ahmed : Strings are not good quality.
ok product. Strings are not good quality.
