Answer: Yes, this net will work for small to medium size fish. The mesh is very small and for larger fish I would recommend a larger mesh net with a little heavier frame. I used it for shrimp because of the mesh size and deep sides.

This is my second net. The first one was perfect and I ordered another one . The second one was a joke ! It came ripped to pieces out of the box and totally unusable.

I honestly did not expect this crab net to last so long, but it's made it two whole seasons and has been well worth the money!

If you want something extremely durable, you're better off with a metal crab pot/trap.

You might have to be more gentle with this one because the net is pretty thin, but it totally works.

After limited use on a soft bottomed lake the bottom of the net tore in two places.

Customers’ number one complaint relates to their inability to fold this net so it will fit in the pouch provided. The vendor’s four photos showing how to fold the net are not satisfactory. Please provide better photos and instructions!

Amazon Customer : Do not buy for fishing crab or lobster

The net isn't porous enough to catch anything. It's too thick it just pushes water or whatever you're trying to catch out when you pull on it. I wouldn't recommend this for any type of fishing.

This net seems good enough quality although I have not used it yet. Have a practice of closing it and putting it back in the bag before you go fishing, once you've got it , its easy to get back in the bag. The net is large

Bought this for my 12 year old son to catch bait fish but it just doesn't work well. It's too flexible so when you pull up on the net, the fish move out and away and you're lucky to catch even one. After 100's of attempts, my son caught 2 bait fish.

I spent 2 days off a dock where I have had very good luck catching crabs. I got these but did not realize how large they were. I need a smaller net for the area that I was in. I was able to catch about a dozen crabs but they tore into the netting very easy and made several large holes in the nets. I will have to patch them up to use again. So for crabbing, these are not the best but I was able to catch bait fish with these nets. I bet these would be great for flat shallow waters. Drop it down, let the fish get comfortable over it, and then haul it up. Also, I had to add weights to the bottom of the net to get it to sink into the water. Also, the hole to put bait in was not secure so I added a clip to make sure the bait stayed. I wouldn't recommend this net for crabbing but it sort of works for getting bait fish.

Solosurvey : Great for catching apples.

Used 4 of these to catch falling apples on my apple tree because the birds get them as soon as they hit the ground. Collapse nicely for easy storage.

NH Hunter : Good Alternative to A Cast Net

My state doesn’t allow large cast nets (4’ diameter max ????), so this is a good alternative. I put some dry dog food and bread in a ziplock with holes. That gets tied to the middle, drop it down and you have bait.

Note: this is used in small lakes and ponds from a boat. It’s not going to replace a cast net...

I have absolutely NO IDEA if this item is quality for fishing. I bought it to suspend in my daughter's playroom, thinking I would put a mesh drape around it like a cute hanging bed for her stuffed animals. It did NOT go well. It cannot support any weight. Maybe it is better for its intended purpose :}
