Answer: Yes, this net will work for small to medium size fish. The mesh is very small and for larger fish I would recommend a larger mesh net with a little heavier frame. I used it for shrimp because of the mesh size and deep sides.

My state doesn’t allow large cast nets (4’ diameter max ????), so this is a good alternative. I put some dry dog food and bread in a ziplock with holes. That gets tied to the middle, drop it down and you have bait.
Note: this is used in small lakes and ponds from a boat. It’s not going to replace a cast net...

Second time I pulled the net stayed on the bottom. Nothing inside or caught on anything and the small plastic piece that attaches to the multiple lines snapped in half. Very disappointed lots of bait in the river and I missed out on it all. Also those multiple lines that attach to the larger ring came with basic loose and poorly tied knots I had to redo each knot before I went out for fear of losing the net and turns out that wasn’t the place that failed. Very disappointed

The net isn't porous enough to catch anything. It's too thick it just pushes water or whatever you're trying to catch out when you pull on it. I wouldn't recommend this for any type of fishing.

If you want something extremely durable, you're better off with a metal crab pot/trap.
You might have to be more gentle with this one because the net is pretty thin, but it totally works.

Amazon Customer : Missing parts and hard to refold it to fit in bag - no instructions.
Not the strongest material but hopefully it will do. I can't fold it back up to fit in the bag and there was no instructions or pictures to guide you. Beware it only came with the net part. You'll have to buy your own rope to pull it up. I don't have any rope so I can't test it out yet.

Just don’t. Get a crab net if you’re planning on using this for landing fish at the pier. It’s cheap, it rips and broke before I even got to use it.

Bought this for my 12 year old son to catch bait fish but it just doesn't work well. It's too flexible so when you pull up on the net, the fish move out and away and you're lucky to catch even one. After 100's of attempts, my son caught 2 bait fish.
