What size is the hook on the 5’ and 6’ gaff? How many inches is the hook gap? Thanks.

Answer: We use our Medium hook on all Amazon Gaffs. The gap is 3 inches. If you would like something smaller or larger, we can do custom gaffs as well!

Does it float?

Answer: YES! All of our gaffs float handle side up. Because floating hook side up could be dangerous! :D

what is butt diameter on 6', making sure it fits in rod holder

Answer: Because we use natural Calcutta Bamboo, the diameters for each gaff can vary quite a bit. Generally, they are 22-32mm. If you need a specific diameter, we can have a custom gaff made for you!

Best gaff on the market. Hand made, floats, well built. I bought a 4’ because I liked the 6’ so much. Gaffs break if you don’t treat them right, much like rods and everything else. These are solid. I’m not saying they’ll never break, but you’ll have a hell of time breaking it through normal regular use.

I guess it’s time for a 3 year update so here goes… I originally purchased the 6’ version in 2018 and this gaff goes with me anytime I leave the dock. I live on the West coast of Florida and the 3in hook is great for black fin tuna, kingfish, larger mahi, Amberjack, cobia and just about any other size fish you need to gaff. I also use it in the winter for hooking stone crab pots. This gaff is very sturdy and could easily handle much large pelagic fish than what I use it for. After 3 years of abuse the hook is still sharp. The clear coat around the shaft is starting to crack, but hasn’t affected the function. It floats and also fits into a standard rod holder and under most gunwales. The downside to this gaff is that it is very *heavy* and unbalanced compared to other gaffs, making it somewhat cumbersome use without practice. Overall it’s a solid 4 star purchase. The 6’ version is a great all-around size. I would absolutely buy it again.
