Questions about Avid Armor Vacuum Sealer Machine - A100 Stainless Construction, Clear Lid, Commercial Double Piston Pump Heavy Duty 12" Wide Seal Bar Built in Cooling Fan Includes 30 Pre-cut Bags and Accessory Hose
Q:
What is the HG vacuum strength at is the?
Answer: The vac pump is rated at 27.5" Hg. This is the top level for a "suction clamp type vacuum sealer".
Q:
Does it have a vacuum hose hookup
Answer: Yes. My model came with a hose. We don't use the hose in the restaurant but, I'm sure it works great. We love this machine. It's a well made heavy duty vac sealer. Works with standard food saver style bags and we get them cheap on amazon.
Answer: Mine does and it is the best thing I have blocked
Q:
Can this product be used to seal and store liquidy foods? If so to what degree can this be done? Would mashed potatoes work? How about bone broth?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Vacuum sealers aren't designed to seal wet contents: however, I've had good success freezing soft "liquidy" foods by freezing them first, and after they're in a solid state they can be easily handled and vacuum sealed. Good luck.
Answer: Yes you can seal liquids but must first freeze them so the liquid doesn't get sucked into the vacuum. I have sealed mashed potatoes without a problem
Answer: freeze in a Ziploc, then with the Ziploc unsealed, put the frozen item in the sealer bag and follow the instructions. Absolutely no liquid may enter the machine. Really good machine.
Q:
are replacement parts available? Is there a parts list?
Answer: Yes all spares are available. There is no list however just simply call or email is with the item required starting with model A100 and the part. Example: A100 vacuum valve, A100 gasket kit, A100 Teflon tape. Let us know if any questions..
Answer: Some basic replacement parts come with the unit. From the Amazon page, "Maintenance kit includes replacement vacuum chamber gaskets, seal wire and teflon seal tape."
Answer: I'm not sure if replacement parts are available but I am sure if you contact the company they will let you know. They were very quick to respond to my questions regarding the product before and after purchasing it.
Answer: My unit was purchased for business use. It only came with an owners manual. The unit works great, no problems at all. The only thing we replace is new bags. They can be purchased from several sellers on Amazon. Good product and I can recommend it to others.
Answer: Works trouble free.have it almost 2 years. Heat sealing strip is availablel.
Answer: It comes with foam seals and a new sealing element, my third sealer, and by far the best one one!
Answer: Call the manufacturer
Q:
Where is this vacuum sealer made?
Answer: We have tried every vacuum sealer made. This one is made in USA and is totally superior. Their customer service is also great and since I am a certified technician that uses vacuum pumps daily THIS ONE IS IT!! We also do mason jars and that is tough on a sealing machine. Don't hesitate just get it you won't be sorry, the other brand attachments also work on it.
Answer: Our model A100 is manufactured in China.
Answer: Label says its made in China.
Q:
Can I vacuum seal a bag with marinade or liquid?
Answer: With all vacuum sealers which suck out the air liquids and marinades can be tricky. With our A100 there are several things you can do: use the pulse vac mode which allows you to control the vacuum and how much. By pressing pulse you create how much vacuum...and once you see the liquid being drawn to top of bag simply press seal button to create a locking positive seal. The other method is: many users will par freeze their liquids in a small bowl then vacuum pack the "brick". Works great! With the A100 you have lots of freedom and flexibility.
Answer: Yes, but freeze the liquid first. The same applies to anything that contains liquid or juice, e.g., fish, raw meat, etc., in order to end up with a better result & no mess.
Q:
Some say 85kpa what is the suction power
Answer: I do not know the value for the suction power. However, I will tell you that I would be happier if it drew a tighter seal. Most times I find the bag is not as tight as I want. I am planning on getting a stronger one myself.
Answer: I don't know but there is a button that you can use to increase or decrease sealing time.
Answer: -1.892 psi
Q:
How close to the end of bag does it seal?
Answer: You decide how much bag is left pass the seal by moving the bap position relative to the sealer strip. All this is visible through the clear cover.
Answer: You can seal at the end of the bag without vacuum with vacuum about 1/2 inch from end
Answer: About a half inch.
Answer: About 3/4 of an inch
Q:
How long is recomended to let it cool off between seals? My current one says 2 minutes. I am looking to shorten that time drasticly
Answer: For model A100 we recommend 20 to 30 seconds between cycles. When I pack in bulk, we vacuum - seal - load new bag and go again with no issues.
Answer: Mine says 30 secs
Answer: Mine says 20 seconds. Seems to work fine.
Answer: 20 seconds should be fine
Q:
How does it work sealing if the food holds water or blood. Like deer and fish
Answer: It has a pulse feature that allows you to stop vacuum and seal before liquid enters the machine . I love mine no trouble after over a thousand uses I do not know if you are aware Avid also has a chamber sealer for around $250 more than a A100 and bags are about a third the price so if you use it a lot the difference will be made up and with it you can do soups and sauces
Answer: drain and pat dry the meat or fish you want to vac seal.any residual moisture will be sealed just fine. example of my blanched asparagus this spring, the little water that there was did not interfere with sealing
Answer: We use this for venison, beef, and all our bulk cheese we cut into one pound chunks. No leaks! No ice! Everything we seal comes out like you just put it in for many months. I have been using this model for 2 years with no issues. Try making cookies and as soon as they are cool bag them one in each bag and freeze. When thawed they are just like the hour you bagged them a day or months later!
Answer: You could freeze each item on a cookie sheet. When frozen place in bag and vacuum seal. I've put stew in a loaf pan, allow it to freeze and then seal the "loaf" of stew.
Answer: meat juices get partially sucked out of your bag and then it just seals the bag.
Q:
Can you use mylar bags with this unit?
Answer: Hello Amazon Customer! Thank you for reaching out and asking your question. We have not tested mylar with our Avid Armor Vacuum Sealer, as such I cannot recommend that the product be used for this. I did do a little research before replying and there seems to be some techniques out there (I just searched "can I seal mylar with a heat sealer"). However, since we have not tested it and it is not what the product is made for, I do not recommend it and if it damages the unit in any way it would not be backed by our guarantee.
Q:
Does it seal mylar bags?
Answer: Depends on the thickness of the mylar bag. There are bags that are 5 ~ 7 mils thick which the A100 can seal. However there are some on the market extra thick (like retort) that require more heat and pressure to seal (some cases the edge of clothes iron). Let us know the thickness or brand number of mylar bag and we may be able to provide more detail.
Answer:
Answer: Our A100 can heat seal mylar bags but it can't vacuum mylar bags unless it has an embossed texture.
Answer: You can seal Mylar bags but you have to use a straw in the bag to get a good vacuum.
Answer: This is an awesome sealer! The site gives the recommendations as to days to use.
Q:
Does the lid lock, how does it maintain pressure while sealing?
Answer: A seal on the door and a seal on the unit compress as the vacuum increases in fact at the end of cycle the seal is so strong you need to wait to open the door These are great units mine has gone nearly a thousand cycles and no complaints their bags are also the best I have used
Answer: Vacuum holds the lid down. Downside,no accommodation to store and cut bags.
Answer: Here's a link to the owners manual, 'https://avidarmor.com/content/A100-UserManual-web.pdf'
Q:
I want to buy this item but needs 220 volts?
Answer: 110 VAC
Q:
How loud is this unit?
Answer: That's very subjective. I don't think it's very loud at all (never tried measuring the decibel level).
Answer: It is fairly loud, It heats up fast. I love it. It is definitely with the extra $$. I had one that I had bought designed for residential use and was just as loud. If you are going to use it multiple time in a row its great it stays hot. I saved my vacuum suction from my other machine and it works on this also. The machine seals very well.
Answer: Not loud at alljust a normal seal sound love it
Answer: It is not bad, at all. The unit does make some noise as it draws down vacuum. At the end of that cycle is loudest, otherwise not bad at all. When just running it is super quiet. Hope helps.
Answer: Not very loud.
Q:
Can you use other bag brands?
Answer: Yes if vacuum sealing other branded bags with channels or embossing will work. If just using to seal the bags, any flat bag will work as well.
Answer: you can use any bag that has a textured surface. I have used several brands with no problems at all
Answer: I have never tried I am still using the bags that I bought from Avid Armour
Q:
How does the marinate function work? The manual just says, "Press for marinating options", but I could find no description of what those options are.
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
Can this machine accommodate 15 or 16 inch wide bags?
Answer: 16
Q:
Will this hold up for commercial use? We seal approx 100 bags twice each week.
Answer: Yes. I use it for sealing fish, meat and chicken. We shop at Sam's and usually buy meat and chicken in bulk. I also routinely seal fresh caught fish. It would not be unusual for me to seal 10-20 bags in a day. You should have not problem with 200 bags a week. However it does not seal very strong. Some bags seem loose to be.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It should, it's heavy duty and built very durable! We used it to seal 200 bags in 1 setting and it didn't faze it a bit!
Answer: I believe it will, however it may take you a little longer. You have to wait 20 seconds in between each bag. I love this sealer. Have not had one bag not seal!!! Have used it mostly for freezing meat/food.
Answer: Yes the A100 will handle the stated volumes. The unit is made to be used back-to-back and should have no issues. Only suggestion is to set the seal time to the lowest setting to get a positive seal which will manage the heat in the sealing bar. Thanks!
Answer: In the two years I have used my machine I have sealed 5 or 6 hundred bags. You do have to let the heat strip cool between bags or it will seal prematurely. Its a great machine for what I use it for.
Answer: No. You have to let it cool off between seals. I was a little disappointed. I don't use it commercially, but when I use it I'm usually packing veggies for freezer or meat, and have at least a dozen packages to do. HOWEVER it''s still way better than ones you buy at Walmart.
Answer: Yes, this is designed for light commercial
Answer: It's a very well built machine, however, if you need a machine with that amount of use, you should be looking at a chamber type sealer, they're expensive, but you'll probably save in the long run.
Q:
Is the accessory tube compatable with my foodsaver canisters?
Answer: Ambre P,

Q:
How many seals can be fone before it over heats?
Answer: I have no idea. Ours sealed a few times, and they were never flawless. We’ve only owned it a few weeks and have sealed less than a dozen items. Then, it quit vacuuming altogether. We’ll be either calling Avid or sending this back. It simply doesn’t work and I’ve been vacuum sealing for years.
Answer: I believe I did about 12, and did not notice any signs of over heating.
Answer: I have never experienced an overheat with mine. I have processed several deer with mine and it maintains a constant temperature.
Q:
Can I use Food Saver bags with this machine?
Answer: Yes! The A100 will work with all embossed vacuum sealer bags. And the wide positive seal will have no issues sealing them tight.
Answer: I would say so. We have even used zip lock regular and freezer bags.
Answer: Yes, as well as the old style canisters with the old stye canister attachment.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you do bulk sealing with out letting the machine rest between seals? (20 bags at a time?)
Answer: Yes the A100 will handle back to back sealing. Please note that if you are using rolls, then your cycles double. With rolls you must cut and make a seal, then insert food / item and vacuum seal. This means machine is operating more cycles. Thanks!
Q:
How do I get a new protective strip for the sealer portion of the device.
Answer: Go to their website, they have replacements available for around $15 with a new sealing strip
Answer: go to avidarmor.com and click on "Replacement Parts".
Answer: Call Avid they are good at sending parts
Answer: Order it from the company’s website
Q:
Is this returnable ?
Answer: I believe it is if in the right timeframe
Q:
Type of bags to use with the Avid Armor A 100 vaccum sealer
Answer: With the A100 we suggest using our Avid Armor vacuum sealer bags and rolls. They are offered in different sizes with the most popular sizes in quart, gallon and pint size. In addition we also offer the line of Magic Vac vacuum bags which are manufactured in Italy. The key the vacuum sealer bags must have an embossing type pattern for the air to be drawn out. thanks
Answer: It comes with a lot of bags when you purchase the sealer.
Answer: Any type should work but I prefer Avid Armor bags. I buy in bulk as it is cheaper that way
Answer: Any vacuum seal bags will work. I have used several different bags and have not found any that were a problem.
Q:
Per one buyer's review (byrandallon august 14, 2017), this item has a three years warranty. could you verify the warranty/guarantee terms?
Answer: byrandallon:
Answer: Don't know what to say in my papers that came with the sealer it said three years warranty and to go to the website and register and there it said three years and accepted my registration perhaps the seller might want to check on what info is being sent with product and what is online somewhere there is a difference.
Q:
What is the widest bag that this sealer can handle? Can it seal 15, or 16 inch wide bags such as Weston?
Answer: The Avid Armor Vacuum Sealer has a 12 inch sealing bar. The widest bag that it can seal is 12 inches.
Q:
What can i use to replace the tape over the sealing bar. It not longer stays put and comes off all the time.
Answer: Yes, we offer a maintenance kit that includes the replacement teflon tape. Please contact us with your info and we will coordinate a replacement seal strip.
Answer: Mine came with an extra piece of tape. I would contact the manufacturer, and I'm sure they would send you some.
Q:
One person says it is made in china and another says made in the usa. so, i have a question. where itf is it actually made? :)
Answer: Just checked, the label on the bottom says "Made in China". A great piece of equipment none the less.
Answer: Mine has a sticker that states, "Made in China".
Answer: I don't the answer. I do know it is a good product and does exactly what I expect it to do.
Q:
Anyone use this for fresh filed fish?
Answer: Yes
Q:
can i use any brand of sealing bags with the armor vacuum sealer machine?
Answer: Yes any embossed or textured bag will work with the A100.
Answer: the bags must have texture on one side for the machine to work properly.
Answer: Yes, you can.
Q:
Is it working with 220-240 (50hz) Electricity
Answer: I can't say with 100% certainty but I believe it is only 110v. The technical details on the Amazon page say 110-120v. Also, I know that there are fans and I do not believe they are DC, so, they are likely 110v AC fans which wouldn't work with 220v.
Answer: Our A100 model is for 110 / 120V only.
Answer: 120 volts, 60 Hertz
Answer: NO - You will destroy it
Q:
Is the heat seal time adjustable?
Answer: Yes the heat sealing time is adjustable allowing you to seal different thickness of bags and materials.
Answer: Yes, the seal time is adjustable.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does it have a bag slicer?
Answer: Michael M.,
Answer: No it does not
Answer: No, it doesn't.
Q:
Can it use the Foodsaver attachment to vacuum Foodsaver containers?
Answer: we use our foodsaver vacuum containers with our Avid Armor sealer.
Answer: I don’t believe so, but it’s the best vacuum sealer on the market. I love mine and don’t regret not getting a Foodsaver at all as the AvidArmoir rarely, if ever, has a failed deal.
Answer: You will use the Avid armor hose but the containers yes. This is what helped me decide on this unit.
Answer: Should but have not tried the remote hose.
Answer: Yes
Q:
How much bag is wasted when sealing an open end? that is, what's the minimum distance from the cut edge to the seal? (some waste a lot each time.)
Answer: The seal area, the area heated and pressed, is about 1/4" wide. From the edge of the seal area nearest the vacuum chamber to the edge of the vacuum chamber is 3/4". I think you need to allow at least 1" from the edge of the seal area to the vacuum chamber. So, you will lose 1-1/4" every time you cut a bag and reseal.
Answer: Waste is very minimal, probably about1/2". That's one of the reasons why I purchased this particular Vacuum Sealer. The sealing strip is right along the very outside edge of the machine, meaning extremely minimal waste. And if you're simply making bags from bulk rolls, you don't need any of the exposed edge of the bag inside the "vacuum chamber", so you can easily seal the end of a bag with as little wasted as you want. You can literally seal the bag with NO waste if you're good!
Answer: With this sealer, you can choose how much to overlap the heat strip by looking through the clear cover to see where the end of the bag is.
Answer: about an inch or so at minimum as is standard for the kind of thing. i find to wastes less than the foodsaver I used to have
Answer: I have about a 1/4 in of above the seal.
Answer: This machine works with VERY minimal waste. I bought after going through multiple food savers.
Answer: Definitely over an inch. Same as when using the Food Saver sealer.
Answer: A little over an inch as I recall
Answer: About 1x1/2 inches
Answer: About 1"
Q:
I just got my new A100 and it came with a removable shallow white tray inside the vacuum chamber, covering up the suction post. What's this tray for?
Answer: Yes, the plastic tray is a trough which may catch any liquids from moist foods. This tray is removable for easy cleaning. The machine can be used with or without.
Answer: It's a tray that collect any juice that get sucked out. It's removable for easy cleaning. I LOVE my unit!
Answer: To catch any juice that may be sucked out during the vacuuming process and it’s removable to be cleaned out easily
Answer: this is to catch any juice from the bag. it helps keep it from getting into the machine.
Q:
Can you package a whole chicken?
Answer: Yes using the correct size bag for the size of chicken, the A100 will vacuum seal it.
Answer: If you buy a large enough bag that your chicken will fit, or get the wider roll and make your own bag.
Answer: I dry age beef loins in Umi bags. This sealer does the job, I bagged a whole fresh turkey breast in it. So yes it seals very well.
Q:
Avid Armor are you ever going to put more of the A100 back on Amazon?
Q:
Can I use another brand of vacuum bags?
Answer: I purchased these bags from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DSSLWIA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they work very well with the Avid Armor machine.
Answer: I am presently finishing up my old food saver bags. Have had no problems.
Answer: I think there will be no problem. I returned my because it wasn't functioning right.
Q:
Is it normal for the sealer to go off by itself? Thank you in advance.
Answer: I have never had that happen to me. I assume if you let it sit for awhile it will auto shutoff. So that is probably what is going on.
Q:
Is Manual mode for sharp, delicate or moist foods?
Answer: Pulse mode is for delicate foods such as fresh fruit, baked goods, chips, etc. You hold the button down until the vacuum is just about to crush the item, and then manually seal it.
Q:
Can i use dri-shield bags
Answer: Looking at specs of Dri-Shield bags, they are 3.6mil so the A100 should "seal". However please note that they will NOT vacuum since the Dr-Shiled bags do not have an emboss pattern on back panel for the air to be sucked out. If "sealing" only then should be ok. If you would like us to conduct testing for you please contact us.
Q:
This machine comes up when i search for chamber machines. Does it actually have a chamber or is it the typical bag in the front sealer?
Answer: The A100 is a "suction type" vacuum sealer where the embossed bag is placed in the front of the unit (vacuum and seal area) then the air is sucked out of bag then sealed. Although not a true 'chamber vacuum machine' the A100 provides an lower priced option for those who want to vacuum pack.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No, this is not a chamber machine. It is a typical vacuum sealer.
Answer: That's a good question. I use it for typical bag sealing but if you look at the 3rd picture down you'll see a nub towards the right-hand side. I believe you could slide a hose over that nub and then use it with containers.
Answer: this unit is a very good bag in front type....I use mine all the time
Q:
my bags are smooth inside and outside. will this machine work with those?
Answer: With smooth bags (example flat or chamber pouches) the A100 will only "seal" the bag. It will not vacuum. If you only wish to bag and seal then the A100 has a sealing mode built in. However if you wish to vacuum and seal, then the A100 will not draw the air of smooth bags.
Answer: As with any other vacuum sealer smooth bags will not work. This is regardless of the manufacturer. However, you can "wrinkle" them so that you are creating some passageways for the air to get extracted. I would say that the smooth walls bags are not for vacuum machines.
Answer: no , what you have is bags for a different type machine.
Q:
Must you hold lid down during entire sealing process?
Answer: Press and hold the lid down, press the "start" button and hold for a couple seconds until the vacuum engages and release.
Answer: No. Just until it makes a seal for the vacuum.
Answer: Nope. I do at the start then I get the next bag ready
Q:
Will the accessory hose on these work on the mason jar sealers that foodsaver sells or do you sell these also?
Answer: Hi Don Spidaliere! Thank you for reaching out and asking about the Avid Armor Vacuum Sealer. We have not personally tested the Foodsaver brand mason jar sealer set, however it does appear to be the same hose attachment and therefore should work. Since we haven't tested it, I can't guarantee it, but I do believe it will. If you try it and find out one way or the other, please feel free to follow up with us and let us know. Thank you.
Answer: The unit comes with the hose attachment. You should contact Avid Armer directly to make sure it will work with other jars. Since they don't sell those accessories, I would guess it will work. Their customer service is very responsive!
Q:
How tall is the machine?
Answer: The height of the A100 (on working table) is 4.25". With the lid open in the highest position the unit would be slightly under 8"..
Answer: 4 or 5 inches I think
Answer: 3-4”
Product reviews of Avid Armor Vacuum Sealer Machine - A100 Stainless Construction, Clear Lid, Commercial Double Piston Pump Heavy Duty 12" Wide Seal Bar Built in Cooling Fan Includes 30 Pre-cut Bags and Accessory Hose
Ann : Well made, fun to use!
I really like this food sealer!! It is well made, the tray comes out to be washed and it seals very well. I almost didn’t get this because one reviewer said you had to press down really hard and the pulse sealing didn’t work very well. It does not take a lot of pressure to hold this down, you just hold it down until the suction kicks in then let go. I read the manual a couple of times before I figured out the pulse, but that works like a charm! Not very noisy, the bags are a lot cheaper than the other well known food sealer bags are and there are more sizes to choose from. All in all I am so happy to have bought the Avid Armor food sealer, I’m looking forward to many years of food sealing!
Amazon Customer : Works as advertised
Researched these machines quite a bit and this one seems the best bang for the buck as well as the best in reviews. Only had a short time but appears quality built and does the job excellent.
Norma G. Hayward : May be defective
This unit is not what I expected. I did a lot of research before choosing this particular brand. It often doesn't seal when I'm making bags and doesn't appear to vacuum all the air out of the bag. The wrap should be tighter if all the air was out. I'm considering returning. I have watched videos and read the instructions multiple times but it never seems to work when I first begin sealing and then after several ruined bags and seals, it seems to do a minimally satisfactory job. I will keep trying it out.

We purchased the Avid Armor food sealer approx 2 or 3 years ago. We have always been happy with its performance but found it recently began
to fall short on removing the air. My husband called the number on the machine and the Avid Armor representative began a trouble shooting session
and believed we had a bag issue. They sent us some new bags to try and our food sealer is back to working properly. I would definitely recommend
this product and this company as they back what they sell. Thank you Avid Armor!
Amazon Customer : By By Food Saver!!! Come on AvidArmor!!
Been using Food Saver for many years and had to replace all of them after a few years of use because they would not seal properly. Did some research and decided to go with the AvidArmor A100. So easy to use and it seal so much better than any of the Food Savers I ever used. So glad I made the change. I will be eating some great vegetables for the next year!!
Alejandro Vásquez : this is the worst machine i could buy
This is a hoax I bought this machine because in the product description it indicates that it has a double piston pump, so it should have greater performance and suction force but it is not. This is a scam, this machine does not have the suction power that is mentioned in the product description, I want to send a video of the operation of this machine so that people can observe the low performance and deficiency that is this
Ryan : Questionable Design and Engineering
Everything works fine except when I pulse vac and then press 'seal'. I've tried pressing down with different pressures, tried various bags, tried different seal times, tried new vacuum foam, and different heights on rubber seal bar strip. Nothing produces a consistent seal. Also, when I turned over the sealer to get manufacturer info I noticed the fan is misaligned and missing a bolt.
Cutter : Very good sealer
Moved up from an automatic Seal A Meal. I have used the more expenseve Westons, but for my money, this is a great deal. During a year I probably vaccum pack 2 deer, 2 hogs, 50 to 100 LBS of fish and the usual bought on sale or in bulk items from stores.
eileen kane : Great Customer Service
I bought the Avid Sealer because I needed a reliable and solid sealer to manage all of our packaging for our home farm. We raise chicken and turkeys and have a big garden so I freeze a full year’s worth of meat and vegetables. The sealer worked great right out of the box when I used it the first time. However, it stopped vacuuming the air out of the bags when I went to use if for the end of the year harvest. I was in a bit of a panic because we needed it for our turkeys and I sent it back to Avid for repairs explaining that we needed back in less than two weeks. The company told me they could turn it around in a couple of days so it was likely that we would have it back. The sealer was returned the day before we needed it and was working great. I was so happy and relieved. I am not sure why it stopped working but was glad to have a company to work with that kept it's word.
Mark K. : Worked great, even for beginner
This is my first vacuum sealer, and I bought this machine mostly for sous vide cooking. I previously had trouble with other bags (ziplock, hand-pump vacuum bags, etc.) leaking and "soaking" my meat instead of cooking it. I used it for the first time to cook a turkey for Christmas, and it worked great. The bags that came with the machine were big enough for the quarters of a 23 lb. turkey. The Quick Start instructions and manual were easy to follow, and the machine worked great. Super easy to set up and use. I then used the machine to seal up my leftovers, including gravy. The pulse function worked great to seal up bags of gravy and it wasn't at all messy. I'm very impressed with how it works. It was kindof expensive, but after reading reviews that other, less expensive machines were, in essence, "throw away machines" after a couple of years of use, elected to get one that had better longevity (based on reviews, not experience).
Janna : Heavy duty equipment!
This sealer looks so different from what we had before. It looks so heavy-duty (weight as well) and professional. We need reliable equipment because we like to fish and keep the fish well-sealed. It comes with additional supplies (vacuum bags, spare gasket, and accessory hose). I will update after operating it.
paul d : Best vacuum sealer I've used
Used this machine on several different tasks and a multitude of different bag manufacturers. It reliably sealed each and every time the adjustment for sealing time was amazing on a different types of bags. Tried it with Ziploc, FoodSaver, great value and the ones that came with the machine. All the bags seal perfectly and vacuum down very tightly. Well worth the money in my opinion.

DPS : Great Product So Far
I settled on this sealer after having 3 name brand models fail within a couple of years even though they were used occasionally.
This sealer seems well made, is easy to operated and the build quality is outstanding.
I have only had this for a couple of months but so for so good.
Highly recommend.
RClement : Take the next step up!
In my opinion Avid Armor A100 is the next step up from the Food Saver world. I'm not going to bad mouth Food Saver products. I have owned 3 and they have all performed as advertised, but they do have their limitations when it comes to sealing a lot of product in one sitting. The Avid Armor A100 can seal multiple packages in a row, without a glitch. It is also quieter than any of the other vacuum packers I have owned. It is a versatile product offering multiple functions with easy to follow instructions. The pulse function and adjustable seal times are incredibly useful, and the replacement gaskets and heat strip are an added bonus. Lets face it, it all boils down to a quality seal, in the least amount of time. The Avid Armor A100 will give you both at reasonable price. As far as longevity, only time will tell on that one, but it appears to be a solidly made product.

Brian Boulais : Time to upgrade your vacuum sealer game.
I have used Foodsaver vacuum sealers for years but I grew tired of the seal not holding and wasting food. Isn’t that the point of buying a vacuum sealer? Well I started to look around and I heard a lot of good things about Avid Armor. I purchased the A100 and have been using it for about a month. I have sealed lobster tails, left over bbq, steaks and even soft breads. So far so good. It has great suction power and the seal is about twice the width of any Foodsaver that I have owned. It takes a little getting used to since you can adjust many of the features of this machine, but once you get the hang of it you will be glad you made this purchase.
Steve B : Seriously, avoid buying this
I rarely write reviews but this product has really disappointed. Totally hit or miss on whether it works. Tried reaching out to their customer service which was unhelpful. Mostly it melts the seal rather than leaving a clean, sealed bag. I bought this machine and their bags. The machine cycles and pulls a vacuum then cycles again until it melts the material. Do yourself a favor and keep looking!
Laura K Davis : Great purchase
I reviewed alot of vacuum sealers prior to purchase. Like most things, you get what you pay for. This sealer has exceeded my expectations. Easy seal & I like that you can attach jars to marinate. Highly recommend this sealer if you're in the market for one.
Amazon Customer : Very solid unit. A little more vacuum might be better
After owning two Foodsaver sealers I decided to step up and get a more robust sealer. My Foodsaver units over time took some warm-up(running vacuum motor without sealing) to start making good vacuum seals. Then after a half hour or more of sealing, the motor would get tired and stop making good seals. Turn it off and wait an hour or two and repeat the same frustrating process. I never wanted to seal one or two items because of all the hassles with the startup of the Foodsaver and I never wanted to do longer sealing sessions because of the overheating.
Well, this unit looks like it is going to cure all that and let me start sealing on my own terms. I can take one item, put it in a vacuum bag, power up the A100 and seal it. Awesome.
Only hitch so far is that it appears that it could use a little more vacuum. In the picture above of some sealed fresh salmon you can see a white ridge where the unit left a little air. I will have to see if it is a continuing issue or just me getting used to the unit but I have been sealing fish for over 15 years. I put the thick end of the fish in first which always seem to work best with the Foodsavers. Still very pleased so far and that small amount of air is no issue to me because I use my frozen vacuum packed fish in a few months and quality is always intact.
Amazon Customer : Sealing Door Does Lock
Works amazingly well and fast. My main concern was about a locking switch / button for the door. There is no mention of a locking mechanism but it does indeed have one. Other sealers have a switch or button to lock the door for sealing which they do state. Avid locks in place once you put enough pressure on it, but they don't mention when I read the descriptions.
It is heavy but that was expected since it is made with actual metal and not plastic, which I wanted.
Bartley W. : Built like a battleship
I ordered the Avid unit and the Amazon top rated sealer, the Geryon. The Avid was a much better design and a lot better built. I like things that look like they will last and the Avid will fit those requirements. The Geryon was harder to use, you cant see through the window to make sure the bag is lined up correctly and the plastic notches on the side felt flimsy and might give way after prolonged use. I sent the Geryon back. Its not concrete, order the Avid and send it back if you don't like it.
Troy A Schulz : Avid Armor A100 seems ready for whatever I can throw at it!
This is the first Vacuum Sealer I've ever purchased. So, I have little to compare it to. However, I didn't want to get a machine that I knew wouldn't last. I've thrown out more food from freezer burn than this machine costs, so I certainly should have gotten one sooner.
However, since I've been working from home, our garden is 10x the size it is normally. Plus, I'll be making 25lbs of meat sticks and another 25lbs of sausage soon, I want to make sure it's preserved the best I can with a moderately priced appliance. The A100 was exactly what I needed.
I removed the unit from the box and was sealing some chicken and dried prunes in short order. While it doesn't have a locking lid, it doesn't require much force to get a good seal, and away it goes on it's own. The chicken we got last week was already getting some freezer burn sitting in the zip lock bags I put them in until the A100 arrived. So I'm happy they're now safely protected in their new packages. The seal that's made is nice and wide, and the default 3 second seal timer was perfect for the bags that came in the box.
Well done Avid Armor, looking forward to preserving the '21 harvest with the A100.

Tucker : Works great for freezing meats.
We just bought a freezer and are stocking up. This vacuum sealer took a few times to figure out, but was excellent after that. You need to figure out how long to apply pressure. Remember to wait 20 seconds between seals. You also need to make sure that air get get around the meat to make a vacuum. No slug fitting in the bags.
Megh : Unproven But Great So Far
Reviews for all other machines of comparable quality seemed very contentious so I figured there would be no greater risk in trying a new unproven product. So far it’s working great. Hopefully this story doesn’t end like so many other company’s review section.
It comes with a “maintenance kit” which people who purchased other machines complained about not being able to get or waiting months.
Caroline Bousman : Great suction power and easy to use. Good value for the money.
Product was VERY easy with super simple instructions. My boyfriend and I with the first use sealed 20lbs of wahoo and trigger fish. We only had an issue with one of the bags not sealing correctly, but it could have been because we tried to squeeze too much into one bag.
Very happy with this purchase. WORTH THE MONEY.
justina lowenthal : This company deserves your business
Finally got tired of ruined food and loose seals so I thought I’d bite the bullet and pay a little more for a good sealer. When received I had trouble sealing roll bags. Called customer service who got right back to me and walked me through a few fixes. I was getting frustrated ...the owners of the company patiently walked me through it , we exchanged videos photos and finally had me figure it out with their help.
The cons...the instructions could be better. There is some question on sealing rolls.. if you keep the bag on the roll it seals well. If you cut them into precuts it can’t form a vacuum unless you press down really hard. I was used to the cheap machines with a lock on each side which helps form the vacuum. This was new to me and as I say the instructions didn’t mention it.
The pros... probably the best customer service I have received in years..patient , understanding, clear and went the extra mile to satisfy a confused customer. Even sent me extras to replace the parts I used up in my attempt to learn the machine.
... a good machine..once mastered I have had no faulty or failed seals , strong vacuum, don’t have to double seal etc.
Bottom line..buy from these guys..they’re the real deal. Will probably by a second machine soon for my other location and will definately buy all my bags from them from now on.
Amazon Customer : Heavy Duty Vac Sealer
I had a disappointing experience with a “name brand” vac sealer 10 years ago. After reading hundreds of reviews I settled on the Avid Armor.
Shipping was fast, setup easy, and machine seals well. The machine is heavier duty than I expected and hope it will last many years. It came with extra gaskets and sealing element.
If you are on the fence like me, I recommend this vac sealer. You won’t regret it.
Amazon Customer : Works great
This works great, has good suctions and seal!!! The only thing that I miss is that it does not have a cutter for custom bags.
Richard Lieber : Great for vacuuming mason jars
Great for vacuuming mason jars and does good for vacuum wrapping food.
Wammit : Pro Machine
This thing makes a foodsaver look like a toy. I have owned a bunch of foodsaver machines only to be dis-appointed time and time again... this is the real deal. I should have stepped up a long time ago....
michael z : thumbs up
this product works great so far. it seals everything i try to vacuum seal. w the cheaper models that's not always the case. i've tried a few $100 + models and they all failed so i spent more and now i have a vacuum sealer that works every time. a good buy.
Mark : Works when it wants to
This A100 unit seams to have to go through multiple tries sealing before it will work on a continuous basis. First trying it, it would not seal the bag while making bags. Then it would vacuum but not remove all the air before sealing. Must have went through 4 feet of bag material before it finally worked efficiently. I use it once a year for sealing soupy. I changed the heat wire and tape second year and it still took a long time to work correctly. When it's working, it does a good job. I do not trust that this machine will work next year.

MRCOLUMBUS : Fantastic vacuum sealer
I packed and labeled 21 bags in 2 hours. That included double sealing each bag. The machine never missed a beat. I checked all bags as I put them in the freezer. The machine established a strong vacuum in each bag and there was no apparent loss of vacuum or seal in any bag, Previous machines that I had did not have this level of vacuum and some bags would lose vacuum after a short time period. Not this machine. Every bag was perfect. Spend the money and buy a quality machine.
Terry Joe Brown : Well made.
I did A LOT of studying before purchasing the Avid Armor. Was honestly looking for made in USA as I have had much better luck. THIS machine must be produced near Apple facilities...the fit and finish of it is impeccable. I mean no visual blemish or haphazardly placed decals.
I started using immediately upon unboxing. EASY. Honesty time: this is the very first purchase of a vacuum sealer. I always research purchases of any appliances in the entire home. I have been burned too many times having to replace items within a year...I do not forsee that with the A100 and promise to update after this season.
I had a wide range in my studies....from $79 f***s**** to $500 commercial machines. The Avid Armor is directly positioned in the middle ground price-wise. Head and shoulders above any machine less expensive in build quality and as good if not better than those costing hundreds more for the same type. It is refreshing to be impressed with a quality such as this...the last time I felt this way was the Vitamix purchase. It is on that level.
Easy to use and very good at sealing (and re-sealing) the storage bags. Having the included accessory port and hose opens up marinating, wine bottle sealing and container food storage options as well.
The second pic is a bag of chopped pecans given to us by neighbors. Opened, used and re-sealed 3x over now. It is a brick. Would break a window if thrown at it!
I recommend highly and would make same decision over again.
Jennifer Mitchell : Would recommend
Heavier than my foodsaver(in a good way). It has powerful suction and is easy to use. I had to press down a lil harder than you'd think to engage seal/suction. Only use it once for our costco trip(lots of different meats). Wish it had a bag cutter(like my old foodsaver) even though my foodsavers cutter didn't work that well. Hope it lasts!
DL Matthews : This machine is much better designed, and it's easy to use
I have owned a FoodSaver for over 10 years. When it died, I bought a new one. The quality was significantly lower this time. It stopped working, I returned it, and I bought the Avid Armor Vacuum Sealer. This machine is much better designed, and it's easy to use. The quality of the materials is superior. Sure, it doesn't come with an add-on to neatly cut your bags, so you'll have to man up and cut your own. However it's a great device.
HonestReviews : Takes some practice, but seals much better than past units
Depending on your bag thickness you have to set the seal time correctly. Other than that this thing works amazingly. Its definitely better than the plastic walmart units.
DudleyD’s : It doesn’t get better than this
I have a well known light commercial sealer with all the bells and whistles. I purchased my AVID ARMOR because after about 500 seals, the commercial unit needs to be sent off for repair. This was purchased for a spare but I know now the AVID ARMOR will be my primary. You have more control over suction time and you also have an attachment to seal jars. After having the ability to vacuum seal longer packages, I can now save whole fish, tuna and even larger parts of game. Having a chamber is great but to be versatile is far more valuable to me.
G'MAN : It’s a tank !
I’ve own the food saver brand vacuum sealers since the day they first came out many many years ago,...I’m sure I’ve had at least 8-10 machines in that time frame , I seem to be vacuuming everything daily from fish, meat, coffee, leftovers ,crafts etc.
Although there’s truly nothing wrong with their units I just wanted to buy something different and a little more substantial for my next machine ,...after reading a zillion reviews on various machines I decided to try out the avid armor A100 unit , my first impression upon receiving the unit was that it was built like a tank , it’s rather heavy and built solid.
I’ve only owned the machine for a short time but overall I’m rather impressed with the operation,..the pulse feature is rather cool when sealing up something that may be soft or wet. The main sucker works very smoothly and I like the little extra wide heat seal that it provides. The unit seems to be quieter than the food saver units I’ve owned before which is nice but not a game changer.
Overall I like the avid armor a lot ,it does everything I’ve asked of it and overall it’s impressive . I guess the only thing to see now is how long it’ll last compared to the other machines I’ve owned
Amazon Customer : Tweak as needed
The instructions said to leave at least 3" between the product being sealed and the area where the seal will happen. I would add that you don't exceed that 3" by more than an inch. I found that in cases where I had more than 4" the seal worked but the air wasn't completely removed and I had to re due it. In many cases that requires the use of sizing the bags instead of using the pre made ones. Not a big deal. Otherwise so far the ease of use and quality seems fine. Only time will tell.
J. Roehrig : wished we would have done this sooner!
I believe I am in love. We have used Foodsavers for years and it's almost as though they are disposable, for that kind of money you expect them to work and relatively well. Our last one only lasted about a year before the problems started. But THIS! OMG I have to say my favorite part is the clear fiberglass lid. It makes seeing the top of your bag so easy. You no longer have to guess if there is enough bag inside to make for adequate suction. 9 seconds, boom, your done. I called my husband, told him to bring home chicken and pork chops so we could test this little baby out. So simple! SO SIMPLE, SO EASY! On 1 bag, I didn't get enough in the machine and the suction got stuck ... You know what I'm talking about! I opened the lid, readjusted the bag and voila, no problem. No fighting, no in and out. I wished we would have done this sooner! Worth every penny!!
paul d : Best vacuum sealer I've used
Used this machine on several different tasks and a multitude of different bag manufacturers. It reliably sealed each and every time the adjustment for sealing time was amazing on a different types of bags. Tried it with Ziploc, FoodSaver, great value and the ones that came with the machine. All the bags seal perfectly and vacuum down very tightly. Well worth the money in my opinion.
Craig : Just buy it. You will be pleasantly surprised at just how good it is.
I spent well over 20 hours looking for a good vacuum sealer. Each time that I looked at the reviews of several brands, I found that the reviews were not very good--in fact they were terrible! The AvidArmor brand had outstanding reviews so I decided to purchase the A 100 Avid Armor Vacum Sealer Machine. When I opened the box and set the unit up I was surprised to see that the quality of the machine was much better than what I had hoped for. This is the unit to buy. It works flawlessly!
Madona Gorney : Am so glad I ordered this sealer system
Am so glad I ordered this sealer system. It works exactly the way it says it will and is exactly what I wanted. After going through 3 other vacuum sealers in 4 years time, I was very happy to find this one.
mike : Avid is Easy to use, high quality vacuum sealer!
I did my research but was apprehensive given the many products with disappointing results. I am delighted to report that the AVID ARMOR A100 vacuum sealer has been everything advertised: EASY to use and very effective. I waited a couple of weeks to write the review, to make sure the vacuum-packed, sealed bags stayed that way. I did a selection of raw and grilled chicken, vegetables, and fruit and had no problems with anything. I used the tip about placing a folded paper towel near the top of the bag, below the seal-line, to prevent moisture from causing a problem, and that worked great. I wish I had purchased this long before now.
Michael : If you're looking for a high quality sealer... THIS IS IT
Don't waste your money on the name brand walmart machines that break. This thing is a beast! It looks great, feels great and overall you know it's a quality machine by using it. Has outperformed the top brand by a long shot.
Caroline Bousman : Great suction power and easy to use. Good value for the money.
