Answer: I have used my smoker tube a couple of times only since I purchased it. This smoker tube is a continuous flow of smoke, (until you burn up all pellets inside smoker tube) where the pellet grill does not have a continuous flow of smoke when temperatures are at a higher setting. I am experimenting with putting a small piece of oak wood inside this tube and surrounding the piece of wood with pellets. The pellets do not put enough smoke flavor in the meat for my satisfaction. You will need a small propane torch & bottle to ignite the pellets properly so they will continue to burn!
Answer: I took have a pellet smoker but upgraded from a stick burner. All pellet smokers smoke lighter than traditional wood smokers. The tube will smoke for 4-6 hours depending on quality of pellet. It will add more smoke and flavor to your meat. A pellet grill does make great food as you know but a tube can improve on that. I recommend getting a culinary torch yo light it with. They are less than $20. Also dont be taken in by more expensive tubes. I've used this tube to cold smoke salt and cheese and added to many meat smokes. This thing is sturdy and well built. Worth every penny.

Answer: Depends on what you are trying to do. If cold smoking, this is all you need, but if you want to be hot smoking, you will need another heat source. Conventional smokers are intended for smoking at temperatures above 200F and are very difficult to use at lower temperatures, while cold smoking is generally at 90-120F. This tube, used by itself should produce heat in the cold smoking range which will add flavor but not "cook" it.

Answer: Humidity or absorbed water may be the cause of your problem. One easy way to find out or fix the problem is to microwave your pellets. I fill my tube with the amount of pellets I want to use, dump the pellets out onto a plate and spread them out in a thin layer, microwave for two or three minutes (avoid getting them hot enough to burn - they’ll start smoking first), then return the pellets to the tube and ignite them with your torch. This has worked every time for me.

When I do barbecued chicken wings I add the smoker tube along side of my hot charcoal. If you know how to "Cold Smoke" Salmon then this would work providing you use a mild smoking pellet such as Alder. Hope this helps.

Answer: Cold smoke is just a temperature. This smokes at a very low temp so you can use it to say smoke cheese. It's not like a traditional smoker. It ahouldnt get hot enough to melt it.

Answer: I've had an issue keeping this lit, and I use a MAPP gas torch to get it going. As long as the pellets are dry, and packed tight by tapping them in, it shouldn't be a big deal. If the grill lights at that altitude, the smoker should too.

Answer: I have not smoked salmon. I cold smoke cheese in cooler weather, vacuum seal and enjoy year round. Yes it should work but it provides smoke for about 4 to 5. So you will need to reload several times. The tube will be hot, wear gloves. Most cold smoked salmon recipes call for 18 to 24 hours of smoke after a curing brine. Also most call for a temp under 80 degrees F so must be done in cool weather.

Answer: It will add smoke flavor but tot in the truest sense of a smoker as a smoker is designed for low heat cooking 180-250 for long periods of time like 4-24 hours. That being said if you want smoke flavor this will help add that flavor you don't get on propane. If you want to smoke with it on the grill place meat off heat and keep temp low at 225 appx and use the smoke tube and you can use it as a smoker but for true smoking a standalone smoker is the best option for tough cuts of meat that need time to break down the meat

Answer: As far as I know we just set ours up and used it as is, just washed it before. Worked well, if smoking hard cheeses they need to "mellow" for a few.weeks in zip bags or seal a meal bags. Did not like the fresh mozz we did, made a nasty rind, inside was good. Can also smoke beans, lentils etc with this.

Answer: You could, but there's no need. If you follow the directions and let the end burn (flames) for 5 minutes, the pellets won't fall out unless you are knocking it around. I used mine yesterday to cold smoke some cheddar cheese and it burned flawlessly for 5 1/2 hours.

I was thinking of mixing some chips in to see if that would work, but decided not to because it would be a real problem in you had to re light the tube. It is finicky and you have to follow the lighting instructions with pellets or you have a problem keeping it burning even with pellets.
Answer: I have mixed a few chips in with the pellets to add some extra smoke/flavor without any trouble. But the chips need to be completely surrounded by pellets and not touching each other, or the burn will slow to a stop. It will not work using chips alone.

I bought this 12 inch tube specifically to try to cold smoke cheese but now use it for almost every cook. It’s been great. I would recommend using a torch lighter to get it started and letting it burn for 8-10 min or it won’t stay on. I tried to use it for shorter smokes by filling it only half way but had a lot of trouble with it staying on so just ended up buying a 6 inch tube which also works great. Little tip, you can use gel hand sanitizer closer to the front of the tube to help the pellets stay lit b/c of the alcohol content.

Bought 2 of these for my Traeger smoker. Baked them in the oven on 400 for 40minute to burn off any manufactured oil on them, like the instructions say to. Filled them up with cherry pellets.. Lit them up with a propane torch. Let the pellets stay on fire for about 5 minutes before blowing out. These things provided a ton of smoke. I probably only needed one.
This provided the extra flavor I wanted. Meat was nothing like I have ever had with just the Traeger alone.
I should consider getting a funnel to use when filling these up so I don't drop pellets all over the ground. Dumped the ashes on around my citrus trees for some added nutrients.

This is the best tool for cold smoking. I used it right out of the box to smoke 60lbs of sausage. It lasted 6 hours on the first try. Before I was using my gas smoker, but on the lowest setting it was partially cooking the sausages. With this pellet smoker I use the same charbroil smoker and the extenssion I've built on top of it ( to hang and store the sausage) and use this pellet smoker inside of it to smoke the sausage, I don’t turn the actual gas smoker on. I’m thinking of buying another one to use two of them at once.

Was looking for something to use on gas grill and give meats smoke flavor. This product produces lot of smoke for extended times. However I was never able to get thin blue smoke it was always grey/white. Grey/white smoke can leave meats with off flavor. I used for briskets, steaks. Not much smoke flavor on steaks, hint on 8 hour brisket. TIPS: follow instructions, light pellets for one minute, let flame for 9 minutes (in non windy location), blow out flame and place in cooker. Check after few minutes to ensure pellets still smoking and not burning. If you place to close to burners the burn up pellets quickly. After about four test runs got 4 hours of smoke each time. I used Bear Mtn Gourmet pellets that were dry. The unit will turn a bronze color after several uses which is normal. Complete burn to fine white ashes and easy to clean. If only need couple hours can place rocks inside to middle and then fill with pellets. The complimentary E-book had good recipes and cooking chart. I can't recommend this device if looking for TBS (thin blue smoke) it just isn't designed for that. But it will last long time giving grey/white smoke. I wrote company and asked about getting TBS but after four weeks no response. So get it if you want lots of the wrong smoke. Would love to know how to get TBS so please respond.

These work as described. I used a MAPP torch to light apple wood pellets in a gas grill. Worked great on fresh black cod from Costco. For a cold smoke you need something that'll get the food to 165 internal temp. which would be extremely difficult to do on a Weber Q grill and apparently there's a risk of botulism. You'd have to build or buy a cold smoker which defeats the purpose. If you try smoking fish, be careful about pre-prep and find a way to brine it or salt it without the salt overpowering the flesh. It's possible to cold-cure fatty fish with a mix of sugar and salt (and dill) under bricks in the fridge and I guess it could be smoked once cold cured.

Awese! I wish I found this years ago! I tried using smoker pellets in a smoker box in the past but it wouldn’t allow for any kind of long cold smoking as I had to keep the pellets under heat in the smoker box to keep them going. This works exactly as advertised! At worst you might have to reignite your pellets once or twice. As I write this, I have some turkey breasts smoking on my grill. They’ve been smoking for about 6 hours from one tube full of pellets. I did need to reignite only once within the first 30 minutes or so.

So glad I got this cool little smoke maker! We have a fairly large smoker-bbq grill but I always want more smoke flavor! I used this on chicken quarters and filled it with hickory wood pellets and it smoked for 4 or 5 hours! worked like a charm! I did not have to mess with adding wood chunks to the charcoal either. The sack of pellets I bought will last a long time and I have the wood smoke flavor with little effort! Love this gadget!
WB Halper : Perfect accessory for my gas Weber grill
This has transformed my old Gas Weber BBQ into a very functional smoker. I placed it on the side away from the tank, above the front-to-back burner, turn on the burners until the smoker ignites and put the meat on the grill. With one burner turned as low as possible (and the others off) the Weber maintains a temperature of 210-225 for hours...the actual temperature is a function of ambient temp and wind. We’ve successfully made chicken, ribs, brisket and various other cuts of beef.
Is it as exact as a thermostatically controlled, pellet-fed Trager? Nowhere close. But I’m not a competitive grillmaster and the results taste really good...if I can get 95% of the way there for $13, I’m happy. :-)

My twice usage with pellet it burned between 3.5-4.5 hours. If I play with it more like tilting it maybe able to smoke longer. It’s not expensive so I bought two instead of refilling with one
I tried aluminum foil and other methods but this is more consistent
It’s fun trial and error smoking, always start small and try out few different ways, love the smell and cooking

Did a "cleansing" run for the tube in our PK (Portable Kitchen) grill/smoker. The next day, did a test run without any food in the PK. Filled the tube with quality wood pellets, stood the tube vertically in the PK, and used a regular size Esbit cube to ignite the pellets (on top of the pellets at the open end which is the top of the tube when standing vertically). The Esbit burned out after about 6 minutes; the first few pellets on the top end were smoking nicely. Laid the tube down horizontally in the PK; closed the top of the PK; opened vents slightly; the tube smoked nicely for the next 6 hours. The following day (third day) smoked 12 pounds of cheese cut into small blocks in the PK with the smoke tube filled about 3/4 full; used Esbit again to ignite; smoked the cheese at average of 90 degrees for 3 hours. After taking the cheese out of our PK, allowed the smoker tube to burn out for the sake of experimentation . . . burned for an additional 2 hours. Total tube burn time of 5 hours.
Fantastic! Who could ask for any more? Plus, basic cleanup of the tube was quick and easy. Highly recommend this product. Just follow directions, use quality wood pellets, and know how to calibrate your particular grill/smoker.

It's really easy to use, although filling the pellets is a bit of a pain. And you do need a torch to light it (I use my kitchen butane torch). The smoke really does last for 4 to 5 hours, and it makes the food taste wonderful. Quick tip: You don't have to use only one type of pellet. When I smoke bacon, I mix hickory and apple for instance. It's so simple, but works so great. And it seems to hold up well under use.

This smoke tube produced perfect high quality smoke using applewood pellets - an off brand bought at Lowes. I tried my hand at cold smoked cheese. I was cautiously optimistic because everything I had read said to cold smoke when outdoor temperature was no more than 60 degrees. On a 78 degree summer Texas morning I tried it anyway with a big pan of ice in the bottom my my upright smoker. I smoked for 2 hours and everything turned out perfectly, and the smoke lasted without having to refil the smoke tube. For the price just get it!!

Great for cold smoking. Or any smoking really. I use it for making jerky. Because my temp has to be so low it's a challenge to get the good smoked flavor. With this and my propane smoker it is literally almost a set it and forget it set up. Last between 5 and 7 hours full. I have had mine a few months, but have burned a lot of pellets in it. I bet I make 20-30lbs of jerky a month. So she has gotten some use. I enjoy it. Great product

Nice Product. A full tube lasts me about 4.5-5 hours with quality pellets, less with cheaper Walmart variety. Adds a good level of additional smoke. I fill it with pellets and let it overhang about 5 inches off the prep shelf on the side of my grill. Hit it with the propane torch for 15 seconds or so until a flame appears. Let the flame burn out or blow out after a couple of minutes. Then put the tube in the grill. The end on the self doesnt get hot so it is easy to pick up. I have recommended to friends and would buy again.

Received yesterday and used for the first time on a gas grill with hickory pellets and a pork loin. As advertised after about 10 minutes blew out the flame it made smoke for the 2 hours it took to do the loin at 260 degrees. Great product, it was still smoking after the loin was done so had to figure a way to stop the smoke.

I have a Komodo style grill and love the ease of use and the smoke flavor I get from it but wanted to try a pellet grill. You can never have too many grills, right? Well I bought a Camp Chef and couldn't be happier with teh operation and if you've never tried a revers sear steak you are missing out. What I was missing out on though was a good smoke flavor. Even after cooking a porkbutt for 10 hours on my pellet grill it didn't have anywhere close to the flavor I was getting with my Komodo style. Enter this little tube! I used it while smoking a pork loin this past weekend and the results were incredible. Lot's of great smoky flavor. Could not be more pleased. Super simple to use and lasted over 5 hrs. Highly recommend for anyone that is disappointed in the smoke flavor of the pellet grill alone.

The UPS guy showed up about 3pm and I ran to the freezer, grabbed a sirloin and some haddock fillets. It was a rush job, thawed the steak in the waver, thawed the fillets in warm water as they were shrink wrapped. I had my wood pellets purchased from last year. I filled the tube, tried to light it on the stove indoors. BAD IDEA! Filled the kitchen full of smoke, ran outdoors placed it in the grill and it went out. Tried to light it with a cigarette lighter, no luck. Went back and read the instructions and found a propane torch quickly got it up and smoking, just like they suggested.
Back inside, I seasoned the sirloin with some Montreal seasoning from Samsclub. Poked the steak with a fork a few hundred times both sides to tenderize. Seasoned the haddock with Tuscan garlic seasoning from Samsclub. Ran outdoors placed all meats on the upper racks for smoking for about and 1 1/2 hrs. Remember, I am a guy, nothing fancy. Cooked up some instant turkey stuffing, hungry Jack mashed potatoes and a 15 year old bag of frozen peas. Cooked the 1" thick steak about 7-8 minutes each side on the lower rack. It came out med rare and with perfect grill scorching on the surface.
Some of the best tasting food we had had in years. The Haddock should have been cooked less time, but aside from that, the taste was excellent.

I recently got into smoking so I didn’t go all out and buy a fancy smoker with an auger or anything like that. I bought a modest smoker that requires the door to be opened to put chips in. Then I read about this device and decided to try it. The first time I lit it and put it in my smoker it went out. I was a little disappointed/worried but then I decided to try again and let the flame burn for a full 5 minutes (like the instructions say haha) and this did the trick. It poured out good amounts of smoke for a full 5 hours (might have even been 6). It seemed to just keep going and going, I’m very impressed. Filling was easy as was lighting the flame to start it, I used a small butane torch as it was what I had handy
ONE WORD TO THE WISE: it will stop smoking but will still have some burning pellets in it so that end will be HOT!!!!! Learn from my mistake (and burnt fingers) and if you’re going to pick it up to dump it pick it up at the open end (where the pellets are completely burned up and it’s cool).

I've had this for almost 2 years now and have really liked the way it works when I slow cook food on my propane grill. Because of the popularity of pellet grills, it's getting harder to find hardwood pellets locally in sizes smaller than 20 lb bags, so I tried wood chips. It works great! It burns longer with pellets, but a full load of chips will burn for almost an hour and produces a lot of smoke. This is one of the best additions to any propane grill to give your food a delicious smoke flavor. (As other reviews state, you can cold smoke cheese and fish with it too...) Highly recommended.

What I didn’t want was a regular grill AND a smoker grill. We have a very nice BBQ grill and the stainless steel cylinder was an affordable option to having both. I baked a 6# beef brisket in the oven @200 for 8 hrs, (overnight), cut it up then and put the pan in the grill (burners off) with this smoker for three hours. OMG! I couldn’t tell the difference. I had to empty, add pellets, and re light it several times during the three hours. WORTH IT. FYI: blow torch to light pellets instead of burners. Spray water on pellet cylinder of it’s burning too fast.

It's not as though these need to be overly sturdy but I was surprised when I received this.
The hex design is better than a tube in that it will not roll around. I decided to weigh it right out of the box - 209g, that's nearly half a pound for my fellow US people. One side of the hex is not perforated so it doesn't drop ash all over the grill/smoker as burn progresses. I filled with an alder pellet blend and it went for 5.5hrs in 22F temps with a slight wind (just out on a grate, not enclosed in a grill/smoker) I stood on the thing inside on ceramic tile, it did not flex or give at all while rocking back and forth 100kg+ (230lb).
In used to cold smoke some cheddar with pecan so far which turned out fine.
This will definitely add some smoke to your pellet grill game.

I wanted to try smoking meat for a long time but didn't want to invest in a smoker this has been the perfect combo it allowed me to use my propane grill as a smoker and give just the right amount of smokey flavor not too much not too little. This can be tricky to light but I found if I leave one end on my propane burner on high it usually likes in no time and then it's just blowing out the flames before they get out of control but once they're out it smokes great for at least 2 hours and your meat will have an amazing flavor of whatever pellet you use . Since I knew I wanted to do a 4-Hour smoke I just bought two tubes and I've had no problems I even did a smoked brisket turned out great my family keeps begging me to do another.

I have a pellet smoker and it's easy to use but it's lackinf in flavor compared to how I used to do it using charcoal and wood so I've been searching for a solution to keep the ease of use I get with the pellet smoker but to get more flavor in my smokes. It's like I've been riding the train to flavor town but it keeps breaking down. This smoke tube was recommended to me and I put it to use on a brisket the day I got it. It takes a bit of checking to make sure you get the pellets lit well enough to stay smouldering . What you need to know is that some pellets will spill out after you lay it on its side so you need to have enough pellets lit to get past that spill out point. Or fill it 85% full so they don't spill out. Once it's going it burns easily in my smoker. I got just over 5.5 hours of smoke out of it. It added a lot more smoke flavor to my brisket. I finally got to flavor town. It's still not like using solid wood or charcoal but a lot more smoke flavor is added with this little contraption.
JJ RAD : Easy way to smoke food inexpensively
Smoker tube works great. You will need a small torch of some kind to ignite pellets, takes a little time. I bought a basic torch with an igniter built in. Most folks use little propane gas bottles, I use the same type but with map gas, which burns hotter and lights in less than a minute. I bought trager pellets, no experience with others. Once the pellets ignite - get a flame - let them burn for a bit and then blow out. I've had no burn issues, fill the tube and it does burn for 4 to 5 hours. Since this is cold smoking - best done when temps are low outside - I won't be dong any cold smoking here in Arizona during the summer:)

I was amazed at how much smoke this produces. I used it to cold smoke cheese but will use it to hot smoke meats/fish. I have had a Traeger for years and really like it but I only use it for smoking not grilling. If I had purchased this smoke tube before getting the Traeger it would have saved my a few hundred dollars as with it and a gas grill there is really no need for a separate smoker.

I absolutely love this thing. I got a pellet grill last weekend and the smoke flavor wasn't nearly as intense as I like, especially at higher cooking temperatures. This thing has definitely solved that problem. I use LumberJack pellets rather than the Traeger pellets because they are made from the actual wood rather than flavored. They are also a bit smaller so they may burn faster. I got about 3.5 hours of extremely intense smoke at 225 degrees in my Traeger grill. I used a small butane torch to light it and it wasn't too much trouble. I couldn't be happier. This thing was putting out more smoke than my Masterbuilt smoker. It's just incredible. I wish I had discovered this years ago when I was using a gas grill.

Received yesterday and used for the first time on a gas grill with hickory pellets and a pork loin. As advertised after about 10 minutes blew out the flame it made smoke for the 2 hours it took to do the loin at 260 degrees. Great product, it was still smoking after the loin was done so had to figure a way to stop the smoke.

The tube seems well-made. One end is fully screened, and the "loading end" is open but has a significant "lip" so pellets dont spill out.
Tested with Traeger apple pellets, that were a little old but properly stored.
It lights easily enough with a basic butane torch, but I suspect any constant flame (like a gas grill side-burner) would work too.
A FULL tube of pellets produced a LOT of smoke for just over 4 hours. It kept a weber kettle FULL of smoke for the whole time, without raising the temp much at all. I suspect a smaller pellet load will be necessary when i want a more subtle taste.
Overall, so far so good!
I may update this review after a few more uses and cleaning. I also plan to test it in my other grills/smokers.

The smoke tube works fine for my grill. I think it could be a temporary substitution for people don’t have a smoker grill, but you need patient and some experience to get it work. The smoke is not spread evenly in the grill, so you need to move the meat every half or one hour to make sure the smoke is even. The tube is not easy to clean and you can see the coating fading after it is burning. If you really like smoked BBQ, I think it is better to buy a real smoked grill

This thing works great. Fill the tube with wood pellets, light it with your propane torch, blow out the flame and you have several hours of smoke with little heat. You can use this to smoke pretty much anything. I even used it to smoke cheese which is almost impossible even on my Traeger. It is not going to regulate heat, but it will produce a good amount of smoke from a surprisingly small amount of wood pellets. You need to use your regular grill or smoker to regulate temperature, while this gives you that extra smoke kick. If you want to cold smoke cheese, etc. you can use it by itself.

I've been using a wood smoker for years. Decided to buy a pellet smoker but thought I'd try this first. All in all, pretty good product. Puts out a decent amount of smoke. It won't replace a wood or pellet smoker but it did pretty good for just laying inside my gas grill. Full tube lasted about three hours. It's definitely made from durable material. I would definitely recommend this product for light smoking.

Hours of steady smoke and couldn’t be easier to use. Great quality. I used Trager’s hickory pellets and you’d never know I was using a gas propane grill; instead it smells and tastes like I used a professional $13K Ole Hickory Pits smoker at a roadside Texas barbecue.

This is the best tool for cold smoking. I used it right out of the box to smoke 60lbs of sausage. It lasted 6 hours on the first try. Before I was using my gas smoker, but on the lowest setting it was partially cooking the sausages. With this pellet smoker I use the same charbroil smoker and the extenssion I've built on top of it ( to hang and store the sausage) and use this pellet smoker inside of it to smoke the sausage, I don’t turn the actual gas smoker on. I’m thinking of buying another one to use two of them at once.

It works great. I tried it with wood chips first because that's what I had. I packed them as tight as I could and only got about an hour of smoke. That's not a negative for this product. Wood chips are big and there is a lot of space in between. I think and hour was good. I'm sure when I get pellets this will smoke for a really long time. Very good quality too.

Tried for the first time yesterday. This is an item you need for short time smoking for maximum amount of smoke flavor. The propane bottle lighter worked better than lighting on stove. Don't set the tube under meat to be smoked, because dripping fat will make it flare up. This item is well made. For a short cook time of less than an hour, I only used about 1/4 of capacity which was more than enough to smoke chicken thighs and sausages. This worked well.

I am amazed with this little smoke box. It works as advertised, It works if you read the very simple 3-step directions. It works GREAT. I ordered a 1-pint tub of Camerons Hickory pellets. Filled the LizzQ with all the pellets, only 3/4's full and thought oh this is not going work. Out came the trusty propane torch and lite the top of the tube where the pellets stopped. In about 3 minutes we had a great flame going. 5 Minutes on my watch and I blew the flame out and into the smoker it went. 3 1/2 hours of continuous uninterrupted smoking. The ribs were the bomb. This little smoke box is the A Bomb. Buy it. Try it. You will not be disappointed.

This is the easiest way to smoke things. It will work in your typical gas or charcoal grill. You can even use it in a large pot. You simply fill it with pellets light it and let it burn for a few minutes to make sure that it's lit and then you simply place it in your grill, close the hood and let it smoke. It will produce a good smoke for two to three hours without ever having to reload or fuss with it.

I have been using this guy every time I smoke my food now. It just soo easy to fill this thing up with some pellets, close the door, and have smoke for 8 hours. I’m using a master built electric smoker, and I just put this in the bottom of it. It says to keep away from drippings (I guess they are worried about the liquid putting the pellets out) but I have never had an issue just leaving it on the bottom of the smoker. I use this over the built in wood chip tray my smoker has. Im not a competitive smoker, I just like food so if your like me and just want to smoke your food with as little effort as possible, this is your go to. I also never thought about the fact that you can put this in your grill to smoke your burgers if you wanted to. I think the next one I get will be a little bigger in hopes to produce a little more smoke.

I have one of the inexpensive Smoke Hollow smokers. To get decent smoked fish, it needed constant tending as the method they use to keep the chips burning, doesn't. It has the electric skillet type control so it regulates temperature (kinda) by cycling the heating element. If it stays off too long the chips go out. And you have to set the heat by trial and error. I did make some good smoked fish, but it was a PITA. I am an automation guy and this needed to be automated. I installed a cheap ebay PID controller. Now I set a heat on the display and it stays within a degree. BUT, the method of igniting and burning the chips still didn't work. I bought this to fix that problem and now I can smoke for 4 hours or more with constant smoke and constant heat. I still check on it, mostly out of curiousity, but my smoke o matic takes care of almost everything, making it a pleasure to use. Such a simple device, but it just sits there and smokes till it's empty. Great when it's 100 degrees or raining, or snowing and you don't want to fool around. By the way, a cheap harbor freight heat gun makes lighting this a breeze. Fill to about an inch from the top and shoot the heat gun into the open end. First it will smoke, then you will get a ring of fire. The hot air method gets more pellets lit than a torch and cuts the time to really get lit.

I bought this 12 inch tube specifically to try to cold smoke cheese but now use it for almost every cook. It’s been great. I would recommend using a torch lighter to get it started and letting it burn for 8-10 min or it won’t stay on. I tried to use it for shorter smokes by filling it only half way but had a lot of trouble with it staying on so just ended up buying a 6 inch tube which also works great. Little tip, you can use gel hand sanitizer closer to the front of the tube to help the pellets stay lit b/c of the alcohol content.
SAB : Don’t need a torch for this...
Works great, I get about 4.5 hours of smoke when fully filled. I don’t have a torch and didn’t feel like buying one just for this, so followed another reviewers method of taking about a shot-filled glass full of pellets and letting them sit in isopropyl alcohol for about 10 minutes while I get the grill ready (all I had was 70% and that worked). Lately, I’ve been soaking them in some tiki torch fuel that I had and that seemed to work even better. Once soaked, I remove them and place them on top of the tube. It lights quickly and I leave it lit for about 7-10 minutes before blowing it out and lay down on the grill.
