Does this product have a built in bag cutter?

Answer: No it does not. Also it does great on dry products but not so good on wet products such as vegetables.

Answer: Nope. I use a paper cutter from a hobby store - works better and faster

Can I seal a marinated steak with this?

Answer: I have by manually forcing air out and then using seal button, I've tried with Vacuum/Seal mode but most liquid gets removed from bag.

Can I use regular food saver brand bags or do I need to buy special ones?

Answer: You need the textured bags so the vacuum put will work - Amazon has them in 11" and 8" rolls. To make the bags, use a paper cutter - cleaner and faster then seal them up. If the food saver bags are textured (made for a vacuum sealer), they should work.

Is this a "snorkel" vac??

Answer: Yes, this is a snorkel style (external) not a chamberd style.

Answer: Yes, it has a vacuum pocket to place the opening of the bag in. It's not really recommended for sealing items with liquids in them. That aside, it's perfect for the price.

Looking for a vacuum sealer I was concerned by the quality of these machines, but after using it I can see is made very well and the high quality of the machine. I will recommend it to any of my friends. It really helps preserves the food longer.

We love how this works . We used it for all our deer meat and it worked out great. We found if things have some moisture it works better to fold a pice of paper towel , set it in the top and then seal it above the paper towel. It works good.

I have been very pleased with the Jorestech vacuum sealer. I researched the available products and found that the most familiar name for food keeper vacuum sealers had started to make a poor product and was riding on its reputation while keeping its prices high. This product is affordable, handles bags as wide as 11 inches (some competitors did not) and works great. It does not have a built-in bag cutter (if you use rolls) but kitchen shears work well enough.
