Is it possible to buy a replacement grate for this smoker?

Answer: I do not think so, we use them until they are so warped that there no hope for repair, that is a commercial use for more than 5 years. Great product: my 4th

Is the bottom of this smoker totally flat? Need it to be flat for glass cooktop...

Answer: The bottom is flat.

Answer: The smoke escapes a little, I live in a condo and it was smoky for 2 days. Make sure you cover the rims very well with heavy aluminum . That helps

Answer: I used an excessive amount of wood chips in an attempt to make a super smoked meal and it did produce a bit of external smoke, but not enough to set off my smoke detectors that my normal cooking (frying) routines typically do. All said, it left my mouth watering from the wonderful fragrance without the any eye burning experience.

This works real good, but there are sharp edges you have to be careful of. The best feature is that it's deep. Deep enough for corn on the cob, and some thick roasts, briskets and chickens. Just sayin' because we are vegetarians and use it to smoke potatoes, peppers and other vegetables. Just work slowly when putting the lid on. If the lid is hard to get on, get out the baking spay. P.S. Foil is your best friend on the bottom, and for smoking chips packet.

C : Love it so far

Love it so far. I was worried about the smoke leaking out when used stovetop, and it does a bit, but I wrap foil over the seams and that has helped. It only takes a 2 teaspoons of wood to smoke food for two hours.

BUILDER : NOT INDUCTION COMPATIBLE !!!! Low grade SS...

Regardless of what is said, this smoker is not compatible with an induction cooktop. The parts are strange in that they suggest an aluminum foil later inside the pan to slow down 'discoloration. But then the 'drip tray sits directly on the wood chips, weird. I completely lined the bottom with foil because the drip tray on the chips doesn't make sense. Since I had it lined, I just put the grill directly above the chips. Because the bottom is not completely flat it causes the induction top to go off after a few minutes. It leaks, so if you do not have a professional vent system to the outside it would be a nightmare indoors. Have really looked forward to this first use but sadly I'm very disappointed. You could more easily put chips in a cast iron skillet, put on a cake cooling rack and cover with tin foil. And that's exactly what I'm about to do. Get a dedicated electronic smoker and save yourself from headaches. Do not recommend.

I should have read the reviews. Shocking low quality, lid doesn't even seal. Half the time the lid doesn't even go on properly. Really low quality stainless. Buckles after the first go. Waste of my money and straight into the recycling.

MnMike : Buy the one from Camerons instead. This one is not worth the savings.

After 1st use I suggest you buy the one from Camerons instead. It is not as good or even close to the Camerons one my nephew has.
Larger than expected. Will fit by centering only on a front stove burner. Disappointed that cover does not slide easier as this is an issue when hot during cooking use. Cover also has a sharp leading edge with burrs that were not sanded or knocked down after being stamped out. Long term quality of stainless steel of course not yet known. Seems reasonably thick enough. Time will tell. Would have been nice to have a wood chip sample enclosed. Cooking instructions quite lacking about meat versatility and in the depth of how to use. They mention chicken and pork, but say nothing about beef. Overall I should have bought the Camerons unit.

This is our second iteration of this product. This one is deeper which makes it better for thicker meats. We haven't used it enough to compare to the one we have had for 6 years, but it seems to be a worthy replacement.

I've been using it for a year and a half, it does a great job adding smoke flavor. But it takes a true scrubbing to get all the smoke off, if you don't ther condensation from the lid drips smoke residue on your next meal

It's built to a price but they haven't skimped on the steel. Out of the box, one of the spot welds on the handle anchors had failed and I had to fix it with a screw and the bending of the handles needed adjusting but nothing to complain about at the price. A handy person can fix these things in a half hour. I'd recommend it. There's also a little modification you can do to make the lid more smoke tight.
