Answer: No- they have those thin, disposable plastic covers. I just made my own sheaths using an old leather belt and some contact cement.

Answer: Not aerated and cannot be sharpened Also we have an issue where the blades are falling out of the handles The look like they are just glued in and hit does not hold

Daaaaaammmmn! Wonderful knife set. I had bought one set previously and it was so good that I got 3 more. One set for my house and 2 for my mountain cabin. They’re very thin and flexible for filleting small fish and to also use in the kitchen on soft vegetables and tender meat products. I love Spam that is cooked thin and crispy and the other day I was able to get 15 thin slices out of a can. It didn’t last 10 minutes in this 3 person household!

Knives did not appear to be very sharp to the touch out of the box. So, I sharpened them prior to use. They worked fine after I put an edge on them. I don't know how they would have functioned directly out of the box.

I would have given this 4 stars but the smaller knife has a bent blade and I know these flex but the blade is pretty bent. It will work for what I me and the longer knife is straight as an arrow so no complaints there but we are rating the product so it lost a star due to the smaller knife having the bent blade. Chinese made costs it a star as well so these knives get 3 stars for my review. I see these knives seem to be as durable as most other fillet knives so they should last as good as any other. The steel is just 420 which means they will most likely dull easy but 420 is also very easy to sharpen so not really an issue for somebody like me.

We are using these knives in the kitchen rather than filleting fish. Have had them almost 5 months and they have definitely surpassed any possible expectations of a $10 knife set!

Having said that, they are almost a fully-wonderful 5 stars. What's not to like? Would have been nice if these knives had come with protective sheathes, but the situation was easily solved by carefully cutting the bottom of the package so that the knives could be returned to the original package for storage. Gives me time to make proper sheathes for them. Yes, I fully believe they are worth that effort!

Also keep in mind, these use a softer steel, so if you're expecting them to hold an edge for many uses, you will be sorely disappointed. I happen to like blades of softer steel. They are easier to sharpen, easier to get shaving-sharp, and usually able to get through a full task without resharpening so long as you're not cutting bone, etc. I use a Smith's 50984 Pocket Pal to sharpen with. Takes me all of 90 seconds to sit down, pull out the sharpener and touch them up. Can't ask for much more than that, especially given the very low price.

I also happen to appreciate the bright orange handles. Wife is usually afraid to use knives I've sharpened (gee, I wonder why?), but the orange handles have very good grip and are easier to see, which makes using them a little bit safer as it's easier for the eyes to track the orange (safe) vs. the blade (DANGER!). However, this might work the opposite for anyone using them while wearing blaze orange hunting clothes. LOL
