Questions about Rapala Tube Scale 25lb
Q:
anyone using this to set drag? tried on my saragossa 10k (max33lb). Almost maxed out i got only 12lbs. Scale is accurate, tested with weights.
Answer: I use it to set drag. I tested it with a certified 25lb weight. It was off less than 1lb
Q:
Why it be sayin 25 lbs when da scale be sayin 15 lbs? How does I know how much weight it has?
Answer: It says 25 pounds on the left side and on the right side reads 11 kg
Q:
The item title says 25lb, but the image displays a 15lb scale. Is this a 25lb or 15lb scale?
Answer: It’s a 25 lb scale
Answer: Mine is 25 lb.
Q:
does it have an adjustment to get it back to zero?
Answer: In use, the two black tabs move together. When weight is taken off the hook, the top tab returns 'home' (to zero). After noting the weight marked, move the bottom tab back 'home'.
Answer: It has no spring adjustment.....you can move the indicator if you start with a load and get the delta that way
Answer: No it does not have a zero adjustment.
Q:
how long is the tube part of the scale please?
Answer: tube is just short of 8" (i.e. 7-7/8), hook is 2
Answer: just about 8"
Answer: About 10 inches
Answer: At least 12", I believe.
Q:
Can this scale be calibrated?
Answer: I suppose you could correlate dead weight to readings
Q:
Does it have a marker or some way to see what the max was? I want to use as a drag scale for fishing reels.
Answer: Yes. There's a sliding plastic tab that marks yhe maximum extension, indicating the max weight.
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
is the spring in the tube aluminum as well? or just the tube?
Answer: No it's not aluminum.
Answer: Spring is not aluminum, it's a steel coil spring.
Answer: No, I believe it is stainless steel.
Answer: could nott tell....but it has not rusted

Product reviews of Rapala Tube Scale 25lb
Mike Carpenter : Great quality product
Great quality product. The handle is very comfortable in your hand when applying pressure. I use this to measure starting torque on taper bearings. It works very well.
aaa : よい
特に問題なく使用しています。 ありがとうございました。 何卒、宜しくお願い致します。
Richard : Excellent!
Rapala. What else do you need to say? Excellent!
TheGuys : Good handle and easy to read marks
This scale gets the job done if your just looking for a estimate weight quickly. Good handle and easy to read marks.
Anthony Carro : Five Stars
Good value, accurate and easy to use.
David G. Smith : Worked great for my needs.
Honestly, this was purchased for setting my hub bearing preload and not for fish. Has a max reading and is a good size so it is easy to handle. May be bigger than you may want.
Desertlover : Needed for a One Time Job
I needed a pull scale for setting up the steering box in my wife’s 1956 Corvette. This is a once and done job, so I wasn’t worried about longevity, repeatability or most of the other characteristics of a much more expensive scale. I checked with one pound weights and it was quite accurate, certainly within the tolerances I needed.
So Cal : Revised down from 5 star due to mechanical failure after less than 2 years
About 2 years ago bought the 0-25 model. I fish saltwater (often offshore) and calibrating my drag takes just a few moments, but is well worth it. I set the reel's drag (lever drags mostly) with the reel on the rod and a line-loop around the scale's hook. .... the scale is tied to a secure base. I set the drag in the range 7 to 25 pounds. I take the scale on offshore trips and confirm my drag before I use an outfit and when re-adjusting, if needed. I was using it this week to test light line knot strength and the internals broke & jammed at 20 pounds. I will be ordering the more expensive brass scale ( 0~50# ) that I probably should have bought all along. /s/ Disappointed.
Katri : Easy to read, lightweight
I ordered these to use on a Florida State University sponsors dig in Italy for weighing tile and brick. The weight increments in both kilos and pounds was perfect for our use. The scales were lightweight and easy to use and read, and the students in the dig felt them to be superior to our old scales. I will keep them in mind if we need more for next year’s season.
Sadistik9 : Husband said it was good
Got it as a gift for hubby. It was exactly what he wanted and prices were better than stores
Roy Merritt : Exactly what i expected
Although i do not use this for fishing, it is exactly what i wanted and of decent quality.
Aaron M. : Sliding marker is too loose, no way to know what the weight is.
A product should work out of the box...in my opinion. The little slider falls down when the scale is held vertically rendering the scale useless...and there is no way to tighten up the tension on that marker without mgivering something out of tape. See my attached video... When I weigh something it just falls down. There is not enough tension between the tube and the slider marker to keep the slider in place. I tried putting some tape between the tube and the marker to create friction so the marker would stay in place better...I had to put 4 layers of tape down to get it to work temporarily...problem with the tape solution is eventually it will wear down the tape, or when water gets to the tape, and the tape will deteriorate making the scale useless.
Walter B. : Preload
Use it for checking the preload on my wheel bearing.
