Questions about Tribest Sedona Classic SD-S9000-B Digital Food Dehydrator, Black with Stainless Steel Trays
Q:
Is it possible to turn the fan off without turning off the heating element? (So that it keeps things warm without dehydrating them as much)
Answer: You can turn fan on night time mode which is a bit less blowing and less noise than regular mode. Other than that, you can turn down the heat. And of course you can do both--turn fan onto night time mode and turn down heat.
Answer: I dont believe so. It really isn't made to do that but I haven't tried. Nor did I see any controls that give any indication that its possible.
Answer: I'm sorry. I no longer have this one. I gave it away as a gift.
Answer: No, not that I can tell.
Q:
what is the operating temperature range?
Answer: 85-155 F according to the settings. I don't check the exact temperatures because nothing I use it for needs precision.
Answer: After a warranty repair, the unit can achieve 145 degrees in spots, but the food heated never heats above 140 degrees. Tribest will not fix the unit to heat to the specified 155 maximum. Also, the manual states the range will be +- 3 degrees.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: My Sedona runs 5 degrees lower than what the temperature reading says. I would suggest getting a oven thermometer that can stand or hang on one of the shelves. So that you can check the temperature each time you use your Sedona or of any food dehydrator you choose to purchase.Hope this answered your question.
Answer: I don't know. It is set with numbers which I think starts at 125. I never needed precise temps for the veggies and fruits which is all I ever used it for.
Answer: I didn't like it, I returned it two years ago, I have no idea.
Q:
Have you or can you make yogurt in this dehydrator?
Answer: Yes, you can make yogurt in the dehydrator. Here is a link: http://ezinearticles.com/?Making-Yogurt-in-a-Food-Dehydrator&id=3907749
Answer: We have never done it, but I have found a link to making Greek yogurt which is thicker using another similar dehydrator
Answer: Hi Nancy, I have not made yogurt in my dehydrator but I googled it and it seems that you can make it! You would remove some of the trays to fit the jars. You may want to contact the company that makes the dehydrator and see what advice they can give you. It is a great machine though - I have made bread and kale chips! Paula
Answer: Nope! It is a DRYER of foods. Works great by the way
Answer: Nope! It is a DRYER of foods. Works great by the way
Answer: I have not ever done it, but I've hear it can be done.
Answer: I've not tried it and not sure how it will do.
Answer: No, but I expect to.
Q:
From what I know about this machine, it is not the best option for jerky making compared to an excalibur. I'm wondering if anyone has feedback.
Answer: After 4 years of owning one, we tried beef jerky. The results caused us to check the heating and found it was not going above 118 degrees. After an EXPENSIVE warranty ship-back, the unit now heats food to 140 degrees - 15 degrees below the advertised temperature range. Multiple calls to the company result in the run-around and they are refusing to fix it.
Answer: We recently bought this machine for the sole purpose of making Beef Jerky. We tried it a couple of times without much success. After calling Tribest about our dissatisfaction, they informed us that the machine does not get hot enough to cook Beef Jerky from raw meat. You need to cook the meat first and then dehydrate it.
Q:
what are the dimension of the package? and whats the shipping weight?
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
can you buy stainless steel trays somewhere?
Answer: why would anyone want to buy stainless steel trays, the food needs the mesh in order to dehydrate fully .
Q:
what is the warranty?
Answer: They will accept the unit back for warranty at your cost for 5 years. It cost us $77 to ship back. The repair did not fix the specific issue we had and the company is giving us the run-around for the problem they cannot fix. I'm not sure this qualifies as a warranty - your mileage may vary.
Answer: Five Years..but be advised that you are expected to keep the original packaging and box as part of the warranty agreement which covers parts and labor.
Answer: According to the TribestLife website the Sedona has a 5 year warranty.
Answer: I believe it is 5 years. I would check the manufacturers website to be sure.
Q:
Is it suitable for Australia?
Answer: You must have a transformer/inverter as the machine designed to run on 110 volts for the USA & Canada. In Australia we run 220 volts. Apart from that it is a great machine and it is almost silent which is a big improvement from the excalibur dehydrator.
Answer: The SEdona states on the back 115 Vac 60Hz power. I googled Australia power is 220-240 volts at 50 Hz. So no it would not work without an electrical inverter. Hope this helps Vince
Answer: I know you would have to have a power converter and then it should run and work great. I love mine.
Q:
Does this unit come with any non stick sheets for crackers and such? If so, how many?
Answer: I don't remember. Sorry. I did order some and I love them. I love love love this dehydrator. It shuts off when you open the door and the controls are in the front. This is a great product and great looking on the counter in my laundry room. I had another dehydrator and I cut parchment paper to fit, worked great. You might want to use a light coat of olive oil or butter to be on the safe side.
Answer: I don't think so, bought seperately
Q:
Good for jerky ? Do I need to pre cook it or what
Answer: Sorry, I don’t know. I’ve only used it to dry fruit and veggies.
Answer: As advertised, yes. In reality, no.
Q:
Does this model have the quiet night time feature?
Answer: Yes, but I haven't even used it, the daytime mode is so quiet already. I love how quiet this dehydrator is compared to others I've tried!
Answer: Yes, you can turn down the fan to "nighttime." It is quieter, but the daytime fan noise is also pretty quite/
Answer: Yes, it does. Great machine. I'm very happy with it.
Answer: Yes, it does.
Answer: yes
Q:
hello! Do you ship your goods to Georgia (Tbilisi) for free? if not, what is the price for delivery?
Answer: Shipping to the Republic of Georgia via USPS would cost about $156.00. This item may be too big to ship though.
Q:
Is there a "cookbook" included with this dehydrator? Lots of recipes included, or just a few?
Answer: The Operation Manual for the dehydrator has a few recipes in for crackers, dried spices etc., none of which I was too interested in. I bought the book "How to Dry Foods" by Deanna DeLong. It contains directions to dry many different foods as well as some recipes to use the dehydrated foods
Answer: There is no cookbook, just a few recipes. You can download the sedona manual online to see what recipes you get. There is a great Kale chips recipe and raw cookie recipe. You can see the recipes and video of how to make them on youtube. Just type in Sedona dehydrator on youtube...
Answer: No cookbook, but they do have a fun DVD that comes with it that showcases some recipes you can recreate. There are tons of videos on YouTube for helpful tips and goodies you can enjoy with this item. Hope that helps.
Answer: I think there were only a few recipes that came along with the instruction booklet, but no recipe book. It's such a great dehydrator though that not having a recipe book didn't matter to me. I am able to find wonderful recipes on youtube.....good luck!

is there a timer with this unit? thank you!
Answer: Yes, there is a timer. It goes up to 99 hours 59 mins. It beeps at end of cycle. Great unit. Love it. Hope this helps

Is the stainless steel unit made completely in the usa
Answer: I took mine back to Costco because the controls stopped working. I bought an Excaliber. I think it is better quality.
Q:
Why only 1 review with the stainless steel trays model ?
Answer: Mine has the plastic/food grade trays. Take into consideration that there are a lot of buyers who just don't give feed back on products that they buy, they won't take the time. My Sedona has the plastic trays. I love my Tribest/Sedona dehydrator, I have owned Excaliber and it's a great product too, but I prefer the quietness and all of the great features of my Sedona. Hope this helps. All the Best.
Q:
What are the dimensions?
Answer: Kim the dimensions of the Sedona 9 tray dehydrator are 17.0 inches (wide), 14.6 inches (height) and 19.7 inches (deep) the 9 trays are approximately 13x15. I hope this helps for determining your counter space. I am raw vegan and this purchase exceeded my expectations. I use it all the time! I am very pleased.
Answer: 37cm high. 43cm wide. 50cm deep. About the same size as a tabletop microwave. I love this device.
Answer: I don't have it because I returned it. That information should be in the Sedona listing or on their website. Best of luck to you.
Answer: 17" x 19 1/2" x 14 1/2" high.
Q:
Does this unit come with any of the mesh drying sheets or must they be purchased separately?
Answer: The Mesh drying sheets come with the unit. You are able to purchase additional sheets as well.
Answer: It does come with mesh drying sheets, yes.
Answer: Yes, as the others have said the unit comes with 9 of the plastic mesh drying racks seen in the pictures, plus 3 silicone sheets
Answer: Yes, it does come with the mesh dryer sheets. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and son-in-law and they really like it. Hope this helps.
Answer: It has the plastic mesh sheet in each tray plus a few solid ones. Top of the line. Even as restaurants go
Answer: It comes with the drying sheets.
Answer: Yes it has one for each shelf, I did purchase the parallax sheets to put on top for crackers

Q:
Are the trays dishwasher safe for the plastic one ?
Answer: I understand that they are not dishwasher safe
Answer: Don't know - we've always hand-washed them
Q:
What is the interior walls and exterior material made of?
Answer: The interior sides are made of heavy duty BPA free plastic over steel. It is well made. They also have the new P-9150 version I would look. I have been very happy with this unit.
Answer: Same as the exterior, it is black. It is the same wall in and out.
Answer: It is some sort of hard polycarbonate plastic that is solid on top and vented on the sides to allow hot air from the fan(s) to vent outside the unit.
Answer: Plastic. As far as what kind of plastic....call the company that makes these units.
Answer: BPA-free plastic.
Q:
anyone have experience with excalibur and like this one better?
Answer: I don't have an Excalibur, but I really like this dehydrator. It works very well and I like the glass door that allows me to see what's going on.
Q:
Does the unit get warm and generate heat?
Answer: the unit becomes slightly warm as it generates some minor heat.
Answer: A small amount of warm air
Q:
How much does this dehydrator electricity used?
Answer: To be truthful I do not know exactly what the cost is for electricity. It must not be much because I don't see that much of a difference with our bill whenever I use it. It wouldn't matter anyway. We will do what is best for our health. The dehydrator is great. It is worth the investment.
Answer: I don't have an exact number, but since we don't use it very often and have had to leave it on on average overnight for 24 hours, I can say I wasn't worried about my electricity bill and I have never seen a big spike or issue with my bill since owning it. Hope that helps.
Q:
To dehydrate nuts do I use solid tray or mash?
Answer: I would use mesh. Guess depends on what nuts and the size of nut.

Q:
WORLDWIDE SHIPPING? Ships to Hungary?
Q:
Does this dehydrator make a noise when it turns off or just shuts off without beeping or anything?
Answer: Hello. The Sedona beeps a few times when time runs out. The unit does not turn off, but the dehydrating function stops. This is a terrific unit. I've had mine for over a year without a problem.
Answer: I think it does beep when it turns off, but I can't say for sure. I think if you go to their website, it may indicate whether it does or not.
Answer: It is so quiet you really can't hear it. Don't let that keep you from buying it though. It is an awesome machine.
Q:
my sedona SD-P9000 makes a high pitched noise beside the fan noise ...is this normal?
Answer: I have not experienced any high pitch noise other than the fans. It is possible you have a fan bearing going bad.
Answer: This is not normal. Call the company for help.

Answer: Yes, I love my Sedona Dehydrator!!!
Q:
I plan on pre cooking jerky before dehydrating would 120 be a good temp when it’s pre cooked to dehydrate at?
Answer: I don't precook when i dehydrate. When i make chicken jerky i dehydrate for 14 hours at the maximum degree.
Q:
What is the power consumption?
Answer: Power consumption depends upon whether you are using 1 or 2 fans (selectable), the number of hours in use, and temperature settings. The maximum possible is 600W with both fans or 300W with a single fan. For example, assuming you are using the maximum possible setting and both fans for a 10 hour run, 6000W would be consumed over the course of dehydration.
Answer: I have no idea. I do know it quit working after about a year and a half and I sent it back. I’m glad I bought mine at Costco.
Q:
Do I need to pre cook jerky and if yes what temp is good once I put it in ?
Q:

This unit does not stay on for more than 10 minutes. gives error code: “err 0”. the user/operating manual has no information about it. wondering?
Q:
Could you sent to Edmonton, Alereta Canada
Answer: Yes, we can. We do ship FEDEX because of the size of the package.
Answer: Sorry - we only ship to USA 48 contiguous states.
Answer: there would be extra shipping charges and would have to make a seperate listing but it can be done
Q:
I don't use my sedona often. was dehydrating some lentils this morning and the unit had turned off. won't turn back on. thoughts?
Answer: The same thing happened to me and it was less than 6 months old. The company was no help and did not stand behind their product. They said probably the mother board failed. They quoted me a ridiculous price to fix it. Basically I was stuck with it. Of course I will never buy from that company again nor will I ever recommend them. The happy end of the story is, I purchased it with my Amazon Prime. Amazon is wonderful, they replaced the dehydrator for free and sent me a free shipping label. So far it is still working well. Sorry I couldn't help with your problem.
Answer: I had the bottom half of mine go out. Have you tried doing just the top? Or just the bottom? Are you able to turn it on at all? Best of luck!
Answer: have you tried unplugging it for a minimum of 10 seconds, then plug it back and turn it back on.
Answer: I took mine back to Costco after it stopped working. I don’t recommend this one buy an Excalibur instead. No problem with it
Q:
Just wanted to know the voltage of this item. Thanks.
Product reviews of Tribest Sedona Classic SD-S9000-B Digital Food Dehydrator, Black with Stainless Steel Trays
Amazon Customer : Temperature
I was a bit afraid tpo buy the most beautiful and technological dehydrator because of some reviews stating it would not dehydrate evenly and it would take longer to dehydrate because of the low maximum temperature. I decided to give it a chance and for my surprise it dryed meat at 68°C in a very reasonable time, not more than my former dehydrator and I loved the feature that you can use 5 trays or 4 trays and choose the upper fan or the lower fan to save energy - and it does dehydrate fast ands evenly, too. So there is nothing to fear, I am so satisfied with my new dehydrator!
tessa : drying foods
Love this dryer its fast , lots of room for whatever I dry, makes wonderful jerky, love the twin fans and glass door.
Kelsteral : Love It
This is my first dehydrator and LOVE it. I hemmed and hawed between this one and the Excalibur. This was tough as Excalibur has been around so long and has been the standard. I chose the Sedona for the features (electronic displays, timer, temperature setting, glass front door, and BPA free shelves) and the aesthetics. I had also read (several places) that the Excalibur's temperature fluctuates quite a bit and it's recommended to by a thermometer to ensure the temp stays low enough for raw 'cooking'.
I'm very happy with my decision - no regrets.
Neti : Don't buy this one
This is my second of the same model called Sedona. The first one died and I couldn't get Tribest to talk to me. I shouldn't have but I bought another and the same thing is happening only a month after getting it. These are expensive machines and I am done with Tribest. I'm getting an EXCALIBUR as soon as I can save up enough to buy one.
wayne F : The Sedona food dehydrator SD-9000
This dehydrator is not worth the money! First, the temperature settings are inaccurate, I used a thermometer to check the temperature when it was empty, the lower settings were off by 10% and higher temp settings were low by over 20%.
When I filled it with tomatoes and again checked the temperatures they were low by nearly 30%.
Drying of fruits and vegetables was very uneven, items in front of the fans dried first but items along the sides took twice as long and the items in the corners had to be moved inward before they would dry. Needless to say it's a frustrating.
The Sedona dehydrator seems to get many good reviews and that is why I considered and later bought it, but it did not perform as stated. Needless to say I sent it back for a refund and immediately purchased one similar to the one I had for 20 years that did a great job. Funny how you can be swayed by a few positive reviews. I expect this round model will last me another 20 years, and at less than half the price.

Jessie : Great Dehydrator- Crazy Expensive!
We researched all the raw-food approved dehydrators out there for months, and just before ordering a nine-tray Excalibur saw this newly-released marvel. The design is great; dehydrates well. Love the glass door, the dual fan option, the night-time setting (quieter), and the easy-to-clean interior. Digital display is great too. The biggest drawback is how crazy expensive this thing is (hence the 4 stars). After buying the unit, plus the silicon nonstick sheets (from another vendor, which we just trimmed with scissors), we could have put a down payment on a yacht. I also wish Tribest would offer a ten-year warranty, considering the investment, and especially since it has computerized components (which are never as reliable as the old-fashioned stuff). We bought the Sedona as an investment into our health, and I do think it will pay for itself in a decade or so. (We aren't even close to 100 percent raw, though. We mostly dehydrate snacks: crackers, fruit leathers, kale chips, and the occasional raw cookie.)
Bottom line, if you've got the 100 bucks to spare, I'd pick this over the Excalibur, but only time will tell if this baby is going to prove itself. I wish I would have had a few years-worth of reviews to look over before we made our decision.
UPDATE
********
Okay folks, here's my update after 8 months of owning the Sedona. It's a really good thing this thing has a warranty, and now I really, REALLY wish it was ten years. After only a month or two, the first one broke. Lower heating element quit in the middle of a batch of mangos. LAME. The good news is that after a little arm twisting, Sedona paid for the shipping to and from and replaced the unit. So far I have not had any problems with the new unit, except that every once in a while the "beep" sound that comes from adjusting the controls sounds a little like a sick bird. Weird, but not that big of a deal. We've made lots of dried fruits, crackers and cookies, and everything has turned out great. So other than the tendency to break (chuckle) this is a great product!
One other interesting thing. In the new model we received two free non-stick sheets. I was excited to try them out on some fruit leather. The fruit leather stuck so bad I had to scrape it off with a scraper and soak the rest off in warm water. It was the same recipe I used on my silicone sheets without any problem. Won't be using them again!
Hannah Hunter : Best on the market
This is the only dehydrator that is completely BPA free. The others are either not or just the trays not the body. It works like a charmer and is so easy to use. The food doesn't stick to the tray either. It is so quiet for two fans. You can have it set to use half the trays or all and there is even a night time setting for a slower quieter fan, just takes a little longer. If you are serious about dehydrating, this is the one to buy, it is worth the extra money and it has a nice long warrantee.
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
Works perfect and I've had it for years now.

Master Censo : Despite the Mixed Reviews, I Took The Plunge
I have recently made my health and the health of my family a top priority. Thanks to eye opening, life changing documentaries such as Food Inc., Forks Over Knives, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, [EDIT/UPDATE - added Food Matters to the list] and numerous YouTube videos, I am transitioning from a predominantly high meat, high fat, low fruit/veggie diet to an organic plant-based/raw diet (and I too want to prove to myself and the world that you can be a Vegan body builder/athlete and not be weak or sickly looking). Additionally, I began my first ever compost experiment and will very likely build a couple of raised bed vegetable gardens in my back yard next month. I'm learning a lot about organic, sustainable gardening (permaculture) and I'm VERY excited to begin living this peaceful, harmonious, and loving & caring lifestyle.
In the short amount of time I've been eating a cleaner, more wholesome diet (two weeks now), I sleep more profoundly, wake up feeling fully rested, am not moody with the kids in the morning, have a spring in my step, and have an abundant amount of energy throughout the day. Eating clean coupled with strength training and cardio exercising, I can literally feel the fat 'melting' away from my body, especially from my mid-section, where men typically store excess fat. It's always been a goal (more like a far-fetched dream) to see my 6-pack abs and I feel I'm on the right track to achieving that and many other goals and milestones with my new attitude in place.
All of this information serves as a segue to say the following: believe me when I say pulling the trigger on this product came after an exhaustive research period. Although all the writings on the wall pointed to the Excalibur line of food dehydrators (at least, here on Amazon anyway), the Excalibur product line still appeared archaic and antiquated to me. Granted, if something isn't broke, you shouldn't fix it, which I found to be the main point from faithful long time users of Excalibur food dehydrators; however, the numerous side-by-side video comparisons and demonstrations on YouTube of both these dehydrators is what sealed the deal for me.
Problematic/defective units are a risk no matter what the product is. From automobiles, home theater equipment, PCs, juicers and blenders, 'oopsies' can happen on the assembly line or in manufacturing (especially if parts making is outsourced by a third party manufacturer). With that said, that is why the manufacturer's warranty is in place for nearly any product a consumer purchases nowadays. John from Discountjuicers.com has even done a video on location, in Korea, of Tribest's manufacturing facility, where the Sedona food dehydrator, among other products, come to life (found on YouTube). This footage may put to rest some concerns other reviewers shared where they were apprehensive about their product being manufactured in Korea. This purchase may be 'un-American' but I stand firm in my decision based on the the facts provided on how these two units perform, sound, and how they appear aesthetically on my kitchen counter. Also, as others have suggested, I purchased the 9 pack Premium 14" x 14" non-stick dehydrator sheets that I will trim down to size and because I am a dehydrator newbie, I also purchased Mary Bell's Complete Dehydrator Cookbook.
Well, that's about all I have for now. I made the purchase today (2/4/2012) and I will update my review periodically after I've received and utilized the Sedona food dehydrator in hopes that my experience with this product (good, bad, or ugly) may help others make a more informed purchasing decision in bettering their lives by all the health benefits they and their families may receive by eating as much raw food as they possibly can.
** EDIT/UPDATE **
2/13/12
Well, it turns out my suspicions were correct. Right out of the box, this dehydrator works like a champ, no defective or DOA unit here. Here are some observations/key points to keep in mind if you do decide to make this investment:
- Shipping was very fast. One thing to keep in mind though is that this product is packaged (and delivered) in its original manufacturer's box, which clearly depicts (with pictures, labels, descriptions, and all) that what's inside is a fancy schmancy food dehydrator. If you live in a neighborhood like mine where the UPS driver drops off deliveries at your front door (without ringing the doorbell and without requiring signature for delivery), a box in plain sight which clearly identifies its contents may entice a dishonest person to help him/herself to your package if you are not home to receive it at the time of delivery. If that is the case, consider having this product shipped to your place of employment (if allowed) or to a relative, friend, or trusted neighbor that would be present to receive the product when it does arrive (assuming you wouldn't be).
- Read the instructions/warnings straight away. You have a small window of opportunity to remit the product registration (10 days after purchase/delivery, which is the only way to effect the commencement period of the warranty). The registration 'card' is in fact just a page in the owner's manual that you have to tear or cut out. After filling out the required information, the instructions would have you fold the sheet in half and tape or glue the seams, affix the required postage, and then mail it off as-is. I personally find the material to be too flimsy to be mailed off as-is, considering all the human and mechanical handling the page will undergo during transit, so to ensure this information makes it to Tribest in Cerritos, CA in tact, I opted to insert this sheet into an envelope and mail it that way. I suppose if someone were paranoid about ensuring the product registration reaches its destination, he/she could send the envelope with delivery confirmation.
- Make sure you remove the tray spacers (my verbiage) before turning the unit on. The spacers are there to protect the trays during transport. Remove all trays and wash in warm, soapy water before placing any food items on them (they are NOT, repeat - NOT dishwasher safe); however, due to their large size, I placed them in the dishwasher so they can air-dry naturally (do not use the heated drying feature on your dishwasher if you choose to do the same). I'm sure these parts have been manufactured and not washed and/or sterilized afterward. You don't want to introduce any germs from abroad into you and your family's home or digestive system.
- The electronic display was pretty self-explanatory and I was able to figure out all its operations within a few minutes without having to delve into the owner's manual (typical male). While the trays were drying, I turned the unit on to inspect the operation of both fans and heating elements. At first, there was slight smoke and a light burning odor. These conditions did not concern me as I figured the heating elements were just burning off dust particles that may have settled onto them post manufacturing. As suspected, the smoke and odor cleared up within minutes and I have not witnessed either since.
- To date, I've dried grapes into raisins, banana chips, strawberry slices, and have made fiber flaxseed crackers from my green juice pulp - and this unit has been humming along non-stop since I received it ... ALL without a problem. So with regard to the Excalibur user(s) who experienced problems with the Sedona food dehydrator, my guess is that he/she/they were used to the performance (heat/fan settings) of the Excalibur, expected the same results in the same amount of time and in the process, grossly under or over estimated drying times with this unit.
Since I have no prior dehydrating experience, I have no biases that may cloud my judgement and/or provide a less than fair review; therefore, what you have before you in this writing is a genuine objective assessment of the results I've produced thus far by simply following the owner's manual and my recipes. Since heat naturally rises, I've incorporated the good habit of rotating trays periodically from top to bottom and from front to back (advice I found through online research). I'm not sure if this method is anal retentive, but it just makes good common sense to me and is no big deal for me to do so (plus my girls love analyzing the results hour after hour - which the amount of product I originally started from decreases from their continued "quality assurance" tastes tests they perform - I love it).
All that remains now from my review and general observation is to see if this unit withstands the test of time like so many loyal and dedicated Excalibur users proclaim. I will return to update my review and keep everyone appraised of its performance after a significant length of time has elapsed or after discovering a defect, if any - which ever occurs first. Thanks for reading.
Redfern : Dried It
Love the receipe book that comes with it to start you off. The controls are easy to understand, use and the machine is quiet enough to keep it on overnight for things that require over 12 hours of dehydration. We are still testing it out but I will say that it has worked well so far on the few things we have done. It is a quality machine.
Antonio Sebastian : Don't buy it.
It looks nice and has some great features, but is unreliable.
Had the unit almost a year now. Used it maybe three times. Tried to use it this morning and the unit turns itself off. Contacted Tribest and they want to ship me a part with instructions on how to install it.
I paid $300.00 for this unit and they want to ship me a part and I have to install it?
I called Tribest back and told them that for 300dollars I'm not going to repair the unit for them.
Tribest now wants me to ship the unit back to California and pay for the shipping.
So much for the great 5 year warranty......
Like I say, not worth the money.

Joenks : Not Worth The Money
Very disappointed with this product! The Sedona SD-9000 does even begin to compare to a cheap Wal-Mart dehydrator. First off it does not come with instructions for dehydrating food; it runs 5 degrees lower than the temperature setting, its actually a two compartment, 4 tray dehydrator, if you want to use all the trays you must insert the divider tray and run both fans to get even distribution of air flow and heat over food, if you don't it only dehydrates the back of the trays. You must rotate food every hour in order to evenly dehydrate it. Conclusion; go to Wal-Mart buy one of their dehydrators and you will get what you paid for!
Read A. Book : Compare this to Excalibur....it's worthy of consideration.
This is a good product. I say this because it lasted my entire harvest season last year running many, many, many hours without fails. These days, products don't seem to last. So the fact that it can be run so often for an entire year and still work tells me it is a keeper. It is a decent competitor to the Excalibur, with some additional features. Most importantly, it has more room in between the trays, and it can run at lower temps to preserve enzymes.

Sierra Rose : well worth the money
If you have a garden and want to preserve your food, you can't beat this appliance. It is a workhorse and runs on very little electricity and doesn't heat up your kitchen. The digital control is very very nice...and I love the double fans so you can only run the top 4 trays if you don't have enough to run the entire 9 trays.
arnav kishore : Because its got good reviews?
Please help !!!
I ordered this dehydrator from amazon itself, about 5 months back.
Because i was travelling out, I did not get a chance to open it until today, It came sealed, properly packaged, and there seemed to be no problem from outside.
I tried switching it on, but the dammm thing just wont start !! Ive read the manual, but dosent have any troubleshooting advice, ive tried different switches, plugs, adapters, but somehow, just couldn't manage to switch it on.
I'm surprised, because this thing is brand new, i chose it over all other brands such as, Excalibur etc. Because its got good reviews??
I'm a regular buyer from amazon, but this is the first time something like this has happened to me.
I will really appreciate some help, i also tried calling them on their helpline number, but nobody's answering the phone !!
kimberly : Loving It!
I cannot think of anything they could do to improve on it. I have found that I prefer many fruits dehydrated. I'm still learning but I am loving it.
Guru Dennis : Works very well. Just takes longer than the manual ...
Works very well. Just takes longer than the manual states to dry some fruits.
Don : Very Nice Addition
I love it, not much else to say. Works very well and makes awsome jerky. I smoke my jerky in my smoker for 2-3 hours and finish in the Sedona. The only thing so far that has me P*ss off is you can'r register it on line. You have to send in their warranty card by mail. You would think they would have that option, other than that its a great dehydrator
Thomas A. Pippert : The Mercedes-Benz of dehydrators.
This thing is the Mercedes-Benz of dehydrators. Take good care of it, and it'll take good care of you. Lots of features, quiet operation, and good capability. Also, give it air! Don't burn this unit out because you slammed it against your back wall and are wondering why it quit working on you or is slow to dry. Give it another inch or two when you run it. It needs some love.
wayne F : The Sedona food dehydrator SD-9000

Karen : Sedona Digital Dehydrator
I really like this dehydrator. I like the drop down door and the shelves are easy to wash. Plenty of space to put shelves that have thicker foods on them.
A big plus is the timer and the night/day switch. The dual fans lets me dry just a shelf or two on the top or bottom.
So far I have dried cucumbers, figs and tomatoes. Today I am getting ready to dry some peaches.

Tatsiana : Excellent for keeping raw food alive!
Beautiful machine. Perfect for raw food temperature (does not go above set temperature - I checked it with thermometer). It works quiet too.
R. E. Twigg : Love the controls. - well thought out unit
I compared several dehydrators before ordering the Sedona. I was concerned about the higher price, but I bit the bullet anyhow. How glad I am now. The electronic timer and digital thermometer make the purchase worth it alone. I can set the timer for 99 hours (over four days). I like the fact I can split the shelves if needed. The industry standard removable computer plug is much nicer than hard wired power cords.
This is a well designed machine. Quiet. I highly recommend it.
Stitcher Jan : Great dehydrator!
I've made several batches of dried apples, bananas and peppers. i even dried our corsages from our sons wedding. It seems to dry things evenly and is quiet .....I love it! Oh yeah, I made some strawberry leather too!
Susie Ohmart : 6 uses and fans don't work
I have had this for a month. Loved it. Now after about 6 uses the fans don't work.
Tatsiana : Excellent for keeping raw food alive!

mifol : Do not buy
This is not a new product!
I just received it today and after I unpacked it, I was surprised to find that the dehydrator was used before. Plastic trays inside were dirty, there were crumbles inside the unit, door hinges were also dirty. Good work Amazon, this is a new low, selling used dirty equipment as new, congratulations.

NICOLE SMITH : great dehydrator
We use this thing about once a week. It does the job perfect and performs as a dehydrator should. Packing was nice and shipping was incredibly fast. I would recommend this to anyone, in fact we are saving for a second one.
*EDIT* BUYER BEWARE!!!!! This unit worked great until today. Never gave any signs of problems, but now the until will not stay on for more than a few seconds, makes a sick beeping sound and just shuts off. Unless you registered your item after the first 10 days of owning AND kept your original box, the warranty does not apply to you. I would never recommend this product or purchase anything else from this company. If you are looking for a dehydrator, I would take a long look at the Excalibur. They now have clear front doors and timers if you wish. They stand behind their product and it is built in the US unlike the Sedona POS built in Korea.
Fairy Godmother : Best dehydrator. Ever.
I've used the Sedona for a while now and can say with certainty that this is the best dehydrator on the market.
* Perfect design:
- Easily accessible controls
- Easily readable data (temperature, remaining time, day/night fan setting)
- Attached door
- Trays easy to get in and out
- Good looking
* High-quality components and thoughtful engineering:
- Two fans
- Good thermostat
- BPA-free trays
Highly recommended!
