Questions about Hunter Safety System Lifeline for Tree-Stand Hunting Safety Harness
Q:
Does this come with a strap to secure it to the tree above your head? Unclear based on description and answers so far
Answer: If you are wearing a harness with a tail ( safty strap) off it, you simply clip it on at the bottom of the tree ,climb the tree and you are secure once you get to the top. You don't need another strap or rope on the top of the tree to attach to your harness. You are already set.
Answer: No strap. You take the loop end of the lifeline and wrap it around the tree and feed the life line through the loop and pull down. It come with instructions as well.
Answer: It does not come with a safety tree strap.
Q:
Is it true these are only good for 2 months?
Answer: They'll last two months but they're not long enough for a lot of tree stands.
Q:
Is this system all you need or do you need to add a harness or other item?
Answer: The harness is definitely needed. There are several optional add ons to the basic harness and tree strap - this is one of them. I have the basic harness and this and love it.
Answer: A harness is needed. This system is just your safety line and locking carabiner. I've used it many times this season already and love it!
Answer: You still need a harness. This is the safety line that you connect the tether of your harness to.
Answer: You attach your harness strap to this.
Answer: I don't get what I need this for. If I fall out will this slowly bring me to the ground?
Q:
What is the diameter (thickness) of the rope?
Answer: Heavy enough. Exact diameter without measuring not sure. I d say 1/2 maybe 5/8 no more.
Answer: It is half inch and sturdy.
Q:
what diameter is it? Is it strong?
Answer: Without verification, I would say 1/2"-5/8". Yes it is strong, when installed per HSS instruction the prussic knot/lifeline is what I trust to prevent a fall. If you have tech questions, I would recommend contacting HSS at 1-877-296-3528.
Answer: It is incredibly strong, heavy duty, mountain climber quality rope. You should have absolutely no concerns at all in using this within a treestand climbing situation.
Answer: Not sure what the actual diameter is but it seems to be a very good quality line. It was bought as a gift for my son who is over 200 lbs.

Q:
Can you use this lifeline with regular climbing stand
Answer: Christopher, you can use a Life-Line with a Climbing Treestand, but it is not ideal. The Life-Line is designed to stay at 1 tree for the duration of the hunting season, so it is ideal for Ladders and Lock-Ons. The best product to use in conjunction with a Climber Stand is our Rope-Style Treestrap. Hope this helps!
Answer: I would not be afraid to try it with a climbing stand if I was going to hunt the same spot often. However it could be tricky to keep the rope from getting caught in the teeth of the climber. Keep in mind in order for the system to function well the bottom of the line needs to be tight. I use it on all my lock ons and don't know why I waited this long to buy one. It took a 20 foot fall to get my attention.
Answer: I do. And don’t see the issue. Just raise it as you go. May add 1 minute to your climb. If you’re hunting same place just leave it until you’re done. The tension alone will tighten the strap if a problem occurs, just shimmy it up as you go. I can’t see how the rope style is more efficient.
Answer: The better option is the HSS Rope Style Treestrap. Made for climber tree stands
Q:
How long is each safety rope?
Answer: Billy, these ropes are approximately 30 feet long.
Answer: Up to 30 feet
Q:
weight rating?
Answer: Checked the instructions and could not find the information. I belive the weight rating would be governed by the harness capacity. I did find a number to call for questions- 1-877-296-3528.
Answer: I suggest you contact Hunter Safety Systems directly with your question. They've always been very helpful when I've talked with them in the past.
Answer: 400lbs
Answer: 400 lbs.
Answer: 400 lbs
Q:
What lengths are these? Are they the 6 foot or are these the 30 foot that allow you to snap in from base of tree all the way up?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: 30 feet from base of the tree.
Answer: 30 footers. And they are awesome!!
Answer: They are the 30 ft version
Answer: They are the 30 ft ones
Answer: you get 3 of the long ropes along with prussic rope attach and hardware. All well made. Can't come close to doing it yourself
Answer: They are 30ft
Answer: They are 30ft
Q:
When knot freezes, is windshield de-ice ok or will it damage rope?
Answer: I don't think that would be wise.
Q:
can i use this with a ladder tree stand, as the ladder is not us against the tree
Answer: Great question, Zach. The answer is yes, absolutely you can. Instead of tying off the bottom of the rope the base of the tree, though, tie it off to the base of your ladder. That way you can slide the knot up and down the rope with 1 hand.
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
How thick are the cords involved? 1/4 inch? 1/2 inch? Thicker than that?
Answer: The main rope is 1/2, the prussic knots are 3/16ths
Answer: The rope is about 1/2 inch thick and has a reflective braid in you can see it well in the dark.
Q:
Does this 3-pack come with the hss-cowbell carabiner covers?
Answer: Jacob. No, the green ropes do not come with the cowbell covers. Only the black, reflective ropes come with them. Thanks!
Answer: It comes with the 3 twist and lock carabiner, if that's what you mean.
Answer: I dont understand why the wouldnt make the non reflective ones with the cowbell cover. It makes no scents to me
Answer: No, but I wish it did , If your not careful going up it will ting and make noise.
Answer: No
Answer: As of October 2020, these DO come with the cowbell cover.
Q:
weight rating?

Q:
Will this work on a ladder stand with a shooting rail?
Answer: Yes, but you'd have to run the line under the rail or unclip and reattach after you get under the rail.
Answer: Yes it runs down the side of ladder
Q:
in need of just some cowbell the rest is working fine how can I order these?
Answer: Www.huntersafetysystem.com They sell the cowbell covers there.
Answer: Hunter Safety System has them on their website
Q:
Why would I pay $94 for a 3 Pack when 27.98 X 3 = $83.94 ?
Answer: Make Math Great Again!!!
Q:
Do they come with the cowbell dampeners? Other sites say yes. Questions asked years ago on here say no
Answer: Bought mine years ago. Only came with carabiners. We put them on stands just prior to season & take them out right after season. Discovered this way they stay in great condition .
Answer: They sent me the reflective ones and yes they did. I sent them back and they did not have the non reflective ones in stock anymore. This was this past Nov.
Answer: Mine did. But I take them off and through them away.
Q:
Do you need a tree strap or does this come with one?
Answer: This replaces a tree strap and does not come with one. You'll need one while installing this to your tree for the first time, but not after that. You attach your safety harness to this and slide the prussic knot up as you climb. When you get to the top, you slide it above your head and hunt. You are attached all the way from the ground to the stand and back, never unhooking until you are safely on the ground.

Answer: No you need a safety harness to attach yo this safety climbing line. This product allies you to be attached while going up or down a tree. So , you need the safety harness to use this product.
Answer: You need a tree harness. No extra strap needed.
Answer: It comes with a strap.
Q:
can you use with climber
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Not really. You put this up after you have set up a fixed stand. Now, every time you climb up or down you are safe. If you use the climber on the same tree, then it would work. However, you wouldn't need a climber then.
Answer: Somewhat difficult. You would have to put the strap around the tree at ground level before you started to climb. As you ascended the tree you would also have to move the strap that you put loosely around the tree as you go up. Once you were at the level you want to hunt from tighten the strap around the tree. Better to buy the HSS "tree strap" that comes with a Lyman's belt that you can use on the way up. You should always be attached to the tree no matter what you do. Go to HSS web site for instruction on the tree strap. The Tree strap and lifeline together.
Answer: Not sure what you are asking but yes you can use this with a climbing tree stand, it's what I use. You just slid it up the tree above the upper part of the stand as you go up. Then, you leave it on the tree when you go down and it is ready when you use it the next time. When you are done with that tree you just slid it down as you descend for the last time. I love it and feel much safer using it.
Answer: Yes with all tree stands.
Q:
Is this a poly or nylon?
Answer: Nylon
Q:
What is the rope made of?
Answer: Not sure what the core is but the outer covering appears to be braided nylon.
Q:
How long is the rope?
Answer: The Life-Line accommodates stands up to 30 feet.
Answer: Haven't unrolled it yet, but HSS says it's good for stands up to 30' above ground. It is very reflective!
Q:
Do you offer a longer length than 16 feet?
Answer: The system I purchased works on 25’ stands.
Q:
What is the caribiner made of? is it steel or aluminum? i hate the heavy steel caribiners.
Answer: It's steel. Aluminum is not considered strong or safe enough.
Q:
Do you buy another one if a fall occurs?
Answer: I would want to know the cause of the fall. Did I hook in correctly? Did the system fail from being out in the elements? I’ve never had a fall so likely that I would buy another.
Answer: I dont believe anything is compromised after a fall....
Answer: No but you need to inspect it to make sure it's not damaged. Your safety harness the one you wear on your body should be replaced after the fall as it has the deaccelerator that gets torn while person is falling.
Answer: Only if damage occurs.
Answer: no you would not
Answer: I would think no
Q:
Is the rope so reflective that it will reflect with sunlight and distract deer?
Answer: No it will only shine in the dark from a flashlight... I have not see any reflection in daylight
Answer: It is reflective, it helps me find my tree early in the morning with light , I have not had a problem with sun reflection
Answer: I don't think so, the deer didn't seem to mind it.
Answer: No, it will have no affect at all in that regard.
Q:
Can this be used with older hunter safety system harnesses?, its probably from 2008
Answer: I would think so ! I have an older hunter safety system harness from 2007 and mine works fine.
Answer: This is my first Hunter Safety System and really do not know. At 82 years old, I sure do feel much safer climbing 20 feet up to my stands. I have four stands up and use the rope from ground to stand. I am hooked up to the rope at all times I am sure your system would hook up but being that old I would go with a new vest and ropes. The new Lifeline ropes are reflective which makes it easy to spot.
Answer: Any harness with a caribiner or loop to attach a caribiner will work. By it. It's a lifesaver.
Answer: Yes, you just attach your old harness to the carabiner.
Answer: Yes in my opinion so long as the system you have has been stored and taken care of correctly and not had any serious falls arrested then it should be fine. This item comes with the carabiners so all you need is the loop on the tether to hook into it.
Q:
Which is the best to purchase, the reflective or non-refective? Deer can only see in black and white, but does it matter if they see reflections?
Answer: Diane, you dont have to worry about the deer spotting you. Some people are concerned about other hunters spotting their stands, so they choose non-reflective. They are both equally safe, though!
Answer: Deer see reflections. They see more than black and white. They don't see in the red spectrum.
Answer: The deer wont see the reflective rope. Its designed so you, the hunter, can find your stand easier.
Answer: It will not reflect unless you shine a light on it . Makes it easier to find your stand in dark .
Q:
Does anyone know if this comes with a tether?????? Ty
Answer: The Lifeline is the tether. To set it up you climb to the top of your stand wrap the loop around the tree put the single end through the loop and lower all the slack down, at the bottom of the tree tie off the slack. Clip your harness onto one of the carabiners as you climb push the knot up ahead of you. Once you get to your stand at the top your done you stay connected the entire time. I like how much more mobility I have as apposed to be tethered right at the tree.
Answer: Umm. . . this is the tether. It has a pre-tied loop you slide the rest of the line through and pull it tight. The knots slide up and down the rope with a little nudge from you as you ascend/descend. The tether from your safety harness attaches to the caribeaner provided with the rope.
Answer: The lifeline attaches to the tree and the strap from your harness connects to the lifeline directly. No tether is necessary.
Q:
Does this come with carabiners?
Answer: Yes, it comes with 2 carabiners.
Answer: Yes, 2 of them.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you lean against the strap to take a shot or would this cause the saftey knot to tighten up?
Answer: Absolutely, you can lean against the strap. It is there for support and protection. The knot may indeed tighten up slightly, but that should not concern you. It can be loosened by hand later if need-be. Good luck this season!
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: You can lean against the strap. I’ve done it several times. Does hold you in place. Will not make the safety knot any tighter than it already is. The knot is a slip knot. So no worry’s.
Answer: You can lean all you want just make sure the knot cinches never had an issue with it and if it does tighten it comes undone by pushing upward
Answer: You can lean against it. Only a fall with tension tightens it up
Q:
Will this work over cold weather jackets and pants?
Answer: They need to be tight to your body.
Q:
Does it come with a tree strap? If not, how do you attach it to the tree?
Answer: most stands now include safety harness, use tree strap from harness and leave on tree
Answer: you would swing the loop around the tree and take the bottom of the rope and run it through the loop which will tighten around the tree. You would have to do that one time only if you're going to keep the stand up.
Q:
Do you make these life lines longer? A lot of my stands are twenty feet in the air.
Answer: I put mine usually a few feet higher than twenty feet when standing on the ground the bottom is chest high for me to get extra height
Q:
If the Lifeline gets completely wet, through and through, will the Prusik knot still grab the Lifeline and stop you from falling?
Answer: I would guess yes. Because the way the knot is designed. It slips up and down by hand but when the loop of the knot is pulled down it tightens the knot and grabs the rope. I'm not a professional. Was wondering if we can see it glow with a light on it, can the deer see it? Good luck hunting.
Answer: Yes the prusik knot is used by mountain climbers all over the world to prevent falls. It should stop a fall under all conditions as long as it’s used properly
Answer: Im sorry im not sure ! You should contact them at hunters saftey for the answer ! They should have any of the answers to your questions.
Answer: I believe it will but haven’t experienced the situation.
Q:
is the rope nylon?
Answer: NO
Q:
Can these be used for ladder stands as well?
Answer: Absolutely. They are designed to be used with any stationary stand (ladders & lock-ons). Be safe!
Answer: Yes, This can be used for any kind of stand. On their website they show a video with several people using it with a ladder stand. I wouldnt recommend it with a climber, but you could do it.
Answer: Yes I use them for two of my ladder stands I bought last year. They work well with them. Best product I ever bought.
Answer: Yes. My husband uses them for his ladder stands.
Answer: Absolutely. They attach to the tree above and are meant to be used in the climbing & descending phase when entering any style of stand (except climbers), plus that vulnerable time when you first enter the stand and hook up your vest belt to the tree. This is my when my hang on stand broke last year and I fell. If I would have had these there wouldn't have been a problem.
Q:
So how does this actually work when you fall?
Answer: It is almost like a slipnot. As you are climbing tree, pole, etc. You move the knot up as you go. If you slip and fall. Your bodyweight tightens the knot keeping you from crashing to the ground. It's almost like a brake.
Answer: Well, hopefully it catches you and stops the fall. Assuming your harness is clipped on to the prussik. YouTube has a bunch of videos on how to set one of these up.
Answer: The knot that you slide up and down will lock in place if your tether is suddenly pulled down.
Q:
Can I get more cowbells? I love them and want to retrofit my old lines with the cowbells.
Answer: Absolutely. Give us a call at the office (877.296.3528) and we'll be glad to sell you as many as you like.
Q:
Can this be used with a Climber tree stand?
Answer: Yes. I would go a step further and say it should be used any time you are using a climber or a lock on deer stand. I would just run it outside the climber so the rope is clear as you are climbing. Just slide the knot up as you go. Safety first always have a plan in case you fall.
Answer: In order for the life line to be used effectively the life line must first be anchored to the tree to the height just above where you intend to put your climber. Once the life line is anchored and used according to instructions it is by far the best safety advice you can use.
Answer: Yes it is a very good life line, easy to use. Very good price.
Answer: YES! Definitely! That's how we use it! It is fantastic!
Answer: Yes.
Q:
What is the rope strength?
Answer: I don’t know the strength but rope is 3/8 - 1/2 “ diameter and is well made and works great for my son and I.
Answer: I don't really know. I bought it for my husband and he weighs around 200 lbs. He has had no problems with it.
Q:
do these come with the cowbell?
Answer: Ahahaha no. It does look like one but it’s a carabiner. The black “cowbell” is actually flexible rubber. No sound. This is the one to go with as it is the non reflective lifeline. Good luck this season. Also, it’s easier to buy a few of these and just leave them in the stand. I’ve but one then 4 more.
Answer: Yea in a seperste package held at the post office its loud znd could injur innocent bistanders
Answer: mine didn't
Q:
Does any one know the working load limit is im quit a hefty man and don't want to but a shady product
Answer: Don’t see it in my packet bud, but here’s their number to ask them...1-877-296-3528 and speak to an HSS Representative BEFORE using it!
Q:
Does this really take over a month yo ship?
Q:
how long is the rope
Answer: This one is 30 feet. Plenty long. Great to leave with a hang on stand or leave on a tree you use a climber on.
Answer: They are 30 feet long.
Answer: I haven't measured it, but it is at least 25 ft, maybe 30 ft.
Answer: 30 Ft I Believe
Answer: 25 feet
Answer: 30 feet i believe.
Q:
What's the diameter of the rope?
Answer: It's not labeled. But looks like 3/8"
Answer: I would say it is 1/2 inch.
Q:
Does anyone know what ladder is pictured in the sample shots?
Answer: Sorry but I don't know what make it is.
Answer: I am 99% sure it is a Family Traditions treestand. We love those stands. http://www.familytraditiontreestands.com/
Q:
What is the max load rating of the rope?
Answer: I believe it is 300lbs - but the rope's load rating isn't the critical parameter. The way the system works - the load rating that matters is the rating for the harness that you are wearing. The strap that runs from the harness to the lifeline will bear the most direct weight in a fall. My wife and I used the system all season. It works well, is secure and we really like how we are tied in from the ground all the way up to the stand.
Q:
What size is the rope and what is the rating?
Answer: Don’t know the rating but have a friend who weighs around 250 and he uses the system. Works well on 25’ stands.
Answer: 400 pounds
Product reviews of Hunter Safety System Lifeline for Tree-Stand Hunting Safety Harness
B. McLauchlin : No hunter should hunt without
I am a bow-hunter and every year I hear of someone who died or was paralyzed from falling out of a tree or ladder stand. Most accidents happen climbing up or down the tree or ladder. I simply will not climb without a good rope and these are the best. I do have mixed feelings about the glow in the dark feature... They work really well but if you hunt in a area that is not absolutely private, I feel these just invite other hunters to your honey hole... I wish they made a non-glow version....
NRS052 : A Must Have
Not a glamorous purchase, but one that could save your life. I trust the quality of the rope 100%. Been using for a couple of seasons and has held up nicely.
Andrew L. Clark Sr : Great system
I use it on a fixed stand that has a nearly vertical ladder. I’m 75 and agile enough to use the ladder but I’m not always wide awake early in the morning and the rungs might have moisture on them. Better safe than sorry.
Shindoru : Safety at a reasonable cost.
I have used H&S safety lineman rope for several years without a hitch in product quality. Thankful to say that I haven't had the opportunity to use this rope for its intended use. (Due to falling out of my stands) ???? I've seen a post that questioned the life of this system, and I find it necessary to address. Please reference the attached picture: replace after 2 years of service, not after manufacture date. If these instructions are not clear it might be best to stay out of trees, and better yet please do not hunt on my land. For the rest happy hunting & stay safe.
George : Perfect
This is a great safety device. I got it for my 13 year old son for when he hunts in a treestand and this really makes him and myself feel safe. It is easy to set up and it works fantastic. It also glows in the dark so when you hit it with a flashlight in the morning when it's dark out it's easy to locate. I would recommend this to anybody who wants to hunt off the ground.
Dixie Princess : LOVE them
These are FABULOUS. I have been hunting with my husband for about 8 years now and the worst part for me is climbing. He usually leaves portions of the ladder off for me so it's not as tall. With these, I feel secure and safe climbing the ladder and now am climbing them at full height. Wish I'd known they had these years ago!! The reflective part of the line is amazing and shows up great in the dark mornings finding your stand! We've bought two sets of three now and will probably be getting another set of three just to have enough for all of my stands.
Keith William : Great for that extra security.
I don't do well with heights, never have. And I have NO IDEA how my friends climb into tree stands without these safety lines.
The line is long enough for our tallest stand, and putting it on always gives me the extra confidence I need to get my but in that tree.
I took my first deer with a bow while attached to one of these.
Havnig three was awesome. I put one in each stand and left them up all season. I did take them down after season to prevent extra weathering.
An absolute must for all tree stand hunters. There's no reason to risk it; not when they're $30/line.
Ethel Lynd : I can say that it works like it's supposed to
I unfortunately haven't been able to use this product out at my tree stand yet,but I have (lightly)tested it in the tree in the back yard. I can say that it works like it's supposed to. It's fairly easy to use( at least in the daylight but should be just about as easy in the dark). I think the next purchase from hunter safety systems will be their 30' life line. I've had really good luck with their products so far and haven't been disappointed yet.
J D Beatty : Easy and secure
Good solid hook up and easy sliding prussic. I also like the rubber boot. It prevents any metal to metal noise. Most importantly it gives me security from the ground to the stand and back down. I purchased 4 of them and wouldn’t climb a stand without one
Bowman : Simple & Safe
For several years I have bought new rope and made my own prussic knot. Yes it worked, but I was never really comfortable with my DIY safety line. I actually bought this one for less than I was spending on my DIY safety line. I have now used it multiple times and it performs much better than my DIY safety line. With the ease of use and safety record of the Hunter Safety System, I'll never make my own safety line again.
I highly recommend this product!
Bucktrot : NOT the 30’ Lifeline as pic shows!!!!!!!!!!
The picture in the ad is NOT what you’re buying!! The picture shows the 30’ LifeLine!!!!! This is the “shorter” Safety Rope that you wrap around a tree “when” you’re in the stand! If you’re looking for the 30’ LifeLine, this is NOT it!!!!!!!!
chris : Work well
One of these almost saved my butt the first time out on it! climbed onto an old hanging stand from a stick ladder and one of the outriggers broke, if the other one broke too I would have been on the ground with the old system. As it was I gingerly stepped back on the ladder and easily ascended down. This is a great system for folks with hanging stands and sticks, huge safety improvement over climbing onto the stand then tying in. Expensive but worth it. I could put together a slightly better arborist setup for a few bucks more a set, but this is much easier. Reflective rope is nice.
Ken C : Better Safe than Sorry!
Great product, easy yo use and work while going up and down trees. I haven't used it with my climber yet but that would seem a little tricky since the bottom has to be tethered and taught for the slip knot to slide up/down the safety rope. I typically install on on each tree I have a hang on stand in as those are the most dangerous when it comes to hunters falling out, slipping..etc. I recommend these to all hunters in all your tree stands.
Jason Hansen : Awesome product
Love the glow in the dark feature on the rope lights up like a Xmas tree when walking out before sunrise
Leo : Hunter Safety Systems claims the specificaitons for this rope are proprietary... really?
If you buy climbing rope from any reputable manufacturer, they provide specifications such as average or minimum breaking strength, number of strands, materials it's made out of, elongation, thickness, and weight. Hunter Safety Systems will only tell you that the rope is strong enough to not break if you fall, but won't they tell you anything else. Is there something to hide here? I won't be buying another and I wouldn't recommend buying it unless HSS provides safety information for this product.
ArcheryGeek : Must have equipment for all hunters
If you are hunting in a stand, please just buy this. Do the smart thing, weather you are 10 feet or 25 feet in the air it is always better to be safe than sorry. This is so easy to use and if it saves you from an accident than $45 bucks is nothing to pay. Stop reading reviews and just grab this before you get in your stand ever again.
David W Blackwell : Best choice for tree stand safety
I was not sure if this would be good or not. So I took a risk. I will say that from here on out if I have another tree stand this is what I will buy. It lights up at night which making finding your stand in the early morning that much easier and all you have to do is hook up and go up. You are safe the whole way up. I highly recommend this to any who are buying safety equipment for your tree stand.

Charlieg : Great for safely climbing in and out of your treestands!
These are great safety ropes. There is a reflective strip that makes it really easy to find your stand in the dark. In case you are wondering, it doesn't bother the deer at all. They walk right past the stand in daylight without a sideways glance. I've never had a fall from a stand yet, but I did put my weight on it once to see if the Prusik knot would slide or stay. It stayed put. I feel much safer now while climbing up to the stand and transitioning in and out.
E. Morris : Sturdy Design & Easy To Use
This is a quality product. Nice weight line and well thought out carabiner set up. Thankfully, I haven’t put it through live fire testing; but, I did ground test it and it held me off the ground the harness was nice and *snug*. More freedom of movement than a regular tree strap and you can easily climb your ladder while moving the pursick knot. I’ll be buying more of these for my other stands.
Amazon Customer : Do it for your family
Most falls happen while climbing up or down. Most hunters clip in once they are up in their stand. This lets you clip in at the bottom, and slide the prusik knot up and down as you enter and exit your stand. Ask for it for xmas or something. Your family will thank you.
chris : Work well
One of these almost saved my butt the first time out on it! climbed onto an old hanging stand from a stick ladder and one of the outriggers broke, if the other one broke too I would have been on the ground with the old system.
Big Dawg : Wow what a nice heavy duty, tangle free, reflective lifeline!
Wow, what a really nice lifeline. It is 30ft long and very heavy duty. It doesn't tangle like other thinner ropes either. I love the reflective material built into the rope. It lights up my deer stand like a Christmas tree when I shine a light on it in the dark making it really easily to find my stand in thick cover. I highly recommend this safety rope and plan on ordering a few more.
Doug : Safety first
These seem like a pain but they're painless! Easy to install, even easier to use and they work. I haven't fallen but I've definitely stepped off and tested these, you don't move an inch. and then to loosen it back up and move it after you've recovered is just as easy! makes climbing the tree or ladder that much safer.

Marion Hack : Works good for those using a ladder stand only.
I bought this to go along with my climber and realized what came with my harness could do the same thing, so I ended up returning it. No need to have this, as it's better suited for a permanent stand.
bz6039 : Reduced My Climb Time
I previously had a seat belt like tree strap... what a pain. The lifeline has decreased the time it takes me to get my climber up the tree. The reflective material on the rope was very visible when walking with a headlamp in the woods. The climber clips are heavy duty with a screw locking system. There is a rubber cover on the clip to reduce noise. I highly recommend this device to any hunter that gets up into a stand (fixed or climber).
Ken : You Need This For 2 Hunters
You know, 3 years ago I thought climbing a tree with these would be a pain. However, 2 years ago I tried my first HSS LL. Now they’re at all of my lock-on stands. They work great and they ARE NOT hard to use. Just clip in and slide the prussic knot up the tree as you go. Once at the top, you’re good to go. Bought this tandem LL for two lock-ons I put on one tree so my nephew could hunt with me. This is nice because I don’t have to buy and put two LLs up. I highly recommend these HSS LLs and the best prices anywhere for them is here on Amazon.
NRS052 : A Must Have
Not a glamorous purchase, but one that could save your life. I trust the quality of the rope 100%. Been using for a couple of seasons and has held up nicely.
jkarce : Great buy
I forgot this rope was reflective and holy crap I thought a spaceship was landing when I first saw it in the morning. Was a great help in locating my stand from far away and had a successful year as I got a buck on Nov 5th. Also the rope worked very well as a safety line, no issues. The rubber cover on the carabiner is a great addition.

Charles L Roberge CPP : Check your gear before using
I bought 2 of these for my ladder stands and hunted with them equally over the last year. Both were stored together and should have pretty close to equal wear and tear. Last week I noticed that one does not hold properly. Fortunately I found out without falling. I checked the other and it is working properly. I also noticed that the prussick knots were tied differently. I swapped it out with a new lifeline and the new one was tied like the other. My conclusion is that the knot on the defective one was not tied properly. I will say that I do like the product in general, just make sure that you test it before using.
If you’re looking for the 30’ LifeLine, this is NOT it!!!!!!!!
a retired school teacher : An important safety device.
These are important safety devices for hunters using elevated stands and platforms. The tether on the hunter's safety harness or vest is connected to the heavy-duty caribiner. After the Lifeline system is installed it provides a secure method of climbing from the ground to the platform. The prussic knot slides as you push it up when climbing, or down when descending, but holds securely on the rope whenever pressure is applied.

DonJr : great asset for safe climbing
perfect for feeling secure from the ground up to the stand.
Jake3392 : Great!
Well made and easy to use. Quiet. I purchased with the HSS harness and this lifeline also works as a tree strap. I bought a climbers runner/lanyard (its basically a lanyard that can handle 300lbs hanging from it) for $8 from my local REI to use with my harnesses front tree climbers loops and the life lines carabiner. I run the runner through the loops and connect it to the carabiner. This helps with bulky clothing. May only be necessary on my harness as it didn't have a devoted loop for the lifeline.

RabidBeagle : Sneaky...
The item itself works great. It fit my situation perfectly and if thats were it ended this would be a 5 star product. Where things go wrong is in the fact that these units should be retired after 2 years of service. The one I received was already more than a year old. What a shame.
If you need this, buy it well in advance so you can return it if they screw you too.

Rusty Dusty : Simple and stout
This rope is designed to protect you from a fall on the way up to your tree stand. It requires the use of a safety harness to accomplish that task. It is a very simple design. The picture does not do justice to the actual item. It is made of some stout material. Installation does not take long and is straight forward - just follow the directions. I have used it since the start of bow season here in Texas. I haven't had any issues with it. Works exactly as advertised and on the companies videos (online or on the dvd that comes with your harness).
J. Fischenich : Should have bought these ages ago.
Avid bowhunter with a lot of hang on stands. These are worth every penny. Gives you peace of mind climbing up and down. Easy to install and use. As an added bonus, they have reflective material on the rope. Didn't really think about it when buying, but it makes finding your stand in the dark that much easier...
Kevin : Superior Safety Line
Awesome safety line. This rope is far superior to the traditional tree strap I was using before. It stays tight, is easily adjustable when moving up/down the tree, and the rubber bell over the caribeaner keeps it from clanging around and making noise. The rope is HIGHLY reflective and very easy to find in the dark.
gerald Bradbury : Easy to set up, encouraging hunter safety in tree stands
great product , easy to set up and helps encourage hunter safety while climbing in and out of a tree stand. the reflective properties is absolutely awesome. i have not fell out of my stand and put the product to use so take everything i say with that in mind but the knot system used to go up and down the main line does lock down when pressure is applied to the loop so i would like to think if one day i do take a fall that it will not be to the ground while using this product.. .

twincreeksjeff : I find it much easier to climb and descend with ...
I find it much easier to climb and descend with this rope than with the climbers rope that must be constantly worked up or down the tree. You must climb the tree to secure this rope. Be sure to secure it near the bottom of the tree. Once that is done, you can climb much faster. That doesn't even take into account the safety factor. It is somewhat safer, because there is no moment while you are adjusting your climbing rope or strap when you are not secured.
