How deep, big enough for stripe bass 30 lbs

Answer: Yes, we fish for big striper and even bigger catfish up to 50+ pounds it is 18-20 inches deep but with flex will go another 6 inches or so. Folds up nicely and is durable plastic webbing which tangles less and is easier to get a hook out of.

Answer: I doubt it. Probably not big enough, but I'd say for sure NOT STRONG ENOUGH. This is a folding net, and it has plastic latches that hold it in place. I very much doubt those plastic parts would hold up to a 30 pound fish that was calm...let alone one that might be thrashing around in the net. Hope this helps.

Answer: I bought this for my dad. He fishes for large catfish and has no problem handling them with this net.... I only saw the net at Christmas, but I would think a 30lb fish would be close to the max, but that is totally my opinion!

Answer: About 21"

Are these nets the new models with the plastic yoke? Or do they have the plated metal yoke?

Answer: I think its plated metal of some type, its not cheap plastic. Handle tends to bend easily if you use it for big fish, like 5 lbs or more. Also bends easy if stepped on in a boat.

Answer: Frame is metal, but latch for folding is plastic.

Answer: Approximately 3/8" square. Depends on the size of the minnows.

Can anyone tell me how long the net handle is?

Answer: The net handle is 19 inches long collapsed. It will extend to 32 inches.

I originally gave this 5 stars and my only complaint was that it could be deeper which is definitely the case because it is a little tricky scooping up fish bigger then around 27 inches. I knew that it wasn't meant for big fish but a deeper net would make it work while keeping the net compact. Unfortunately I now have many more issues with this net so have had to come back and lower my rating.

I like the net material but the holes are too small making it a little difficult to move through water and leading to more hooks getting tangled(at least they don't get stuck in net material though just in the small loops). My boat net is the same material but with holes 3 or so times larger and it works much better with far fewer tangles.

This net is obviously not meant for use in salt water as I used it only a few times and it corroded even though I made sure to rinse it well after each use. The problem is that it seems to get under the outer surface and corrode it that way. The corrosion has made it difficult to open with one hand so I now leave it open which defeats the purpose of buying this net as there are better non folding nets available for cheaper.

And to top it off after only a few uses one of the plastic pieces(why plastic???) that holds strap between two arms broke so now the front of the net is all floppy making the net difficult to use.

I haven't even had this net for half a year and have maybe used it on 15-20 trips at the very most. Unfortunately it looks like a person still can't buy a decent folding net which is frustrating as a kayak fisherman. Looks like I am going to have to replace this one with a solid net which is something I didn't really want to do.
