When it says 8 feet or 5 feet - is this the diameter when the net is open? Seems like you would want the larger one but too hard to throw?

What is the hole size of this net....?

Do you need to be Indiana or have a Commercial license to use the net

Answer: You have to check the state laws. In Kansas we can use a cast net but when I live in Michigan, I believe they were not permitted. Just go to your state's fishing and bait catching regulations webpage.

I've used this net for over a month, pretty much on a daily basis. Overall, this cast-net is average for it price range. It is not better than others in the same price range, such as the SS1000 by Fitec, the Mako by Lee Fisher, or the Betts series.
. Pro: It looks pretty and opens fine.
. Con:More expensive than the Fitec and not really works any better.

I have the 10ft 3/8 net. It will not fully open. The net is just too stiff. I’ve soaked it in fabric softener 3 different times and no luck. I’ve tried throwing this net many different ways, but can only get it to open about 60-70%. This net also sinks very slow.

I'm quite pleased with the quality and craftsmanship of this net! It's weighted for easy casting and is perfect for a beginner like myself. I purchased the five foot version for easy handling. The spacing seems perfect as I'll be using it for our shad (smaller sized baitfish) run. The monofilament seems stout and knotted well enough for multiple use. The swivel is heavy duty and according to the manufacturer is also anodized. The weights are manufactured in lead and hand tied/knotted to keep them in place when throwing. The nylon retrieval line is high quality and thick enough to easily handle. I also liked that it comes in a handy storage bucket. The bucket itself is small enough as to not take up a lot of storage space on the boat. I'm very pleased with my purchase!
