fishing user avatarfish-fighting-illini reply :

How often do you fish and for how long do you fish when you go?

fishing user avatarguest reply :

bout twice a week.

I usually stay out for 8 or 9 hours.

fishing user avatargrimlin reply :

Right now it's twice a month if i'm lucky.I'm working double overtime and really don't have much time to fish as i get nagged for the housework on the weekends. It usally gets better in the summer time as that's when i usally fish all weekends all day sometimes.I usally can only stay about 2-3 hours as of right now.Not a whole lot of time.

Long as i can fish i'm happy.

fishing user avatarNEBassMan reply :

Since i have a new baby in the house, i don't get out much.  Usually every Saturday though, the wife lets me go.  I'll stay anywhere from 4 hours to 12 hours, depending on conditions and if i have other stuff to get done that day.

fishing user avatarJayW reply :

I'd say once per week as an average. There have been periods in my life when it was 7 days per week. I still go out 2-3 times per week on occasion, but then again, some weeks I don't get out on the water at all.

fishing user avatarmattm reply :

Seven days a week since the neighborhood pond is in walking distance.  However sometimes i'll just go up there for an hour or so after work.  Extended periods of fishing, 4-12 hours, I go about twice a week.

fishing user avatarPILL reply :

Around 5 times a week for close to 5 hours at a time.

fishing user avatarZonked reply :

My line is usually wet somewhere between 20-25 hours per week, weather permitting.

fishing user avatarJerkbate reply :

I average three trips a week for about 4-5 hours per trip.

fishing user avatarWhiteMike1018 reply :

I try to go fishing wherever and whenever I can.

yesterday me and NJfishinGUY did 16 hours at lake Hopatcong and another smaller lake.

He had an excelnt day but I only caught 5 pickerel.

I missed a lot of bass on frogs and spinnerbaits in the morning, but I never gave up, 15 hours in and still fishing hard for bass.

Guess im a little obsessed  :)

WM you're not obsessed, you're dedicated!

I try to get abot 8-10 hours a week if I can.  Every minute is worth it, catching or just fishing.

fishing user avatarGatorBK reply :

3 to 6 days a week and average 2 to 5 hrs a trip , Mostly right out back in the lake here , I can be making a cast in less than 5 minutes if I got up right now .

fishing user avatarjdw174 reply :

I usually get out once a week for about 6 hours.  Longer in the cooler days of spring and fall, but during the latter part of June and thru July/Aug, the sun/heat will strip the hide off of you around here 8-)

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

I usually get out on Saturday for about 5 or 6 hours.  This weekend I was able to take an extra day off from work for a four day weekend.  I plan on heading back out on Tuesday after the crowds have gone back home.

fishing user avatarMALTESE FALCON reply :

I'm usually on the water 4-5 days per week.

fishing user avatarcart7t reply :

I try and get out on Saturday.  Usually fish around 6-7 hours.  I'd love to fish more. I need to move somewhere with good bodies of water much closer.

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

We get in about 45 minutes about every forth day. We fish right off our community dock & wharf (my boats are rotting).

Not to worry, this work nonsense has got to end, at which time I intend to give it hell.

Roger

fishing user avatarFendercaster reply :

I've been averaging 3 or 4 times a week for the last month or so. I usually go out a few evenings after work for a couple hours, there are several ponds I can fish within 15 minutes of the house. I try to spend most of the day on the water when I go on weekends. Occasionally I'll make an all night catfishing trip.

fishing user avatarAlpster reply :

In the summer time, I take a kid from church and his dad at least once a week for 3 or 4 hours, usually on a weekday afternoon. I started this two years ago and am amazed at how the kids call me or corner me at church and ask "when are we fishing?" I try to get in a whole day once a month with one of my hard core partners who can go 8-10 hours. Work gets in the way of fishing way to much! JMHO

fishing user avatarGatorbassman reply :

Two, three and sometimes four days a week. I stay as long or longer than I can.

fishing user avatarfrogtog reply :

3 days a week 10 hour days. If it rains all week then I fish all week. ;)

fishing user avatarsamurai361 reply :

I have 2 addictions. Fishing, and earning a living. If I didn't like to fish, I'd probably work even less. I can beg for food, but people don't seem to feel bad for you because you can't go fishing but once a week. In the colder months, I fish at least once a week, unless it is BITTER cold. Then I only go in saltwater during striper season. During the rest of the year, one weekend day, and maybe in the evening or morning the rest of the week 1 or 2 days. At work, we rotate from days evenings every 4 weeks. When we switch, my days off also change. If I'm on evenings, and my days off are during the week, I fish them both, but come home before the Admiral does and clean. I'll go out in the morning (plan to tomorrow) before work on weekdays also. I plan my vactions around striper season, and will call in with "bass fever" in a heartbeat. I get out on the water at least 75 times a year, maybe more. It's about even whether I'm in salt or fresh water.  I fish as long as I can stand it, and that can be 7-8 hours, longer if I'm on fish.  I've stayed out from sunup to WAY past dark before.

fishing user avatarfeldtbass23 reply :

During the school year I'm away at college but I still bring my pole with me. I try to dip a line in atleast 2-3 times a week for only a few to maybe five hours at a time. During the summertime I don't have to work and no school, so I'm basically out there everyday but the girlfriend always has the final say.

fishing user avatarVorlin reply :

New job meant new car so I'm mobile again... working 6 PM - 4 AM, 4 days per week and that means I've only been off work for 90 minutes when the sun is rising, plus I'm awake at sunrise on all 3 days that I'm off.

This has me out 3x per week for 4 hrs each plus usually one full day... so figure around 20 hrs per week.

I've also found that even though it's harder on me, fishing at night and sometimes in the rain can be far more productive than the traditional "good fishing weather" days.

Vorlin

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Under normal conditions 4 to 6 days a month at 12 to 14 hours a day, but the past 6 months I've managed once or twice a week for 3 to 4 hours.

That's a drop from 84 hours a month to 32 hours a month  >:(

fishing user avatarFish Chris reply :

Sometimes two, ususally three, 8 to 12 hour trips per week. Which works out to about 140 trips a year, for 1200 to 1400 hours.

It always gets me when I hear somebody say, "I went out for a few hours today....." Huh ? For me, the only way that could happen, would be if I started at 2pm and the lake closed at 6pm..... Otherwise, no matter how early I start, I just can't drag myself off of the water if there is still enough light to see :-) ..... Just one more cast ! :-)

Peace,

Fish

PS, You ever see little kids screaming and crying as their parents drag them away from the amusement park ? That's me, when I have to quit fishing ;-) LOL

fishing user avatarBassboy15 reply :

about every other day for about 1-2 hours. I get to go Tuesday with a friend all day though
