What are you going focus on in 2006? 2024

fishing user avatarkayl. reply :

What technique are you going to focus on improving in 2006?

Personally, I'm going to focus on using crankbaits and spinnerbaits, as well as frogs/snakes across the slop.

I'm also going to start using baitcasters (I've been a pure spinning man) and try out some swimbaits for bigger bass.

(Oh- and I'm going to focus on keeping the bait monkey fed too ;-))

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

The main thing I'm concentrating on for '06 is Lake Fork in March!!  ;D

May look into working on speed fishing.

fishing user avatarbasspro48 reply :

I'v got to learn how to set the hook when using topwater frogs, I've had about 47 fish blow-up on my frog this year and I only landed 6 of 'em...not a very good strike to hook-up ratio.

fishing user avatarsenko_77 reply :

the wretchdly awesome c-rig and jig

fishing user avatarFutureClassicChamp reply :

jigs

fishing user avatarDDbasser reply :

I'm going to concentrate on learning to fish deep water offshore structure.

Also taking my electronics to the next level and boat control. ;D

fishing user avatarNick_Barr reply :

Offshore structure, and finesse type situations, and Learning to find fish more efficiently.

fishing user avatarpaparock reply :

Drop shot and the finesse jig for deep structure bass.

fishing user avatarstratoscaster reply :

I'm looking to improve the same areas as Nick, offshore structure and cover and more importantly finding the correct pattern to put me on the fish.  Can't catch them if you can't fimd them.

fishing user avatarMatt Fly reply :

I have bought a SUZY home-maker baking timer.  I am going to focus on not sitting in a "honey hole too long" because of past results.  Thus a timer will go off and remind me how long I've been here.  Results will deem if its time to move on, and maybe come back later and check again.

fishing user avatarFALCON reply :

FOR ME IT'S SPINNERBAITS & BUZZBAITS. HAVEN'T HAD MUCH LUCK WITH EITHER.

MY BIGGEST GOAL IN 2006 IS TO TEACH MY GRANDSONS TO FISH.

fishing user avatarplaymaker47 reply :

In 2006 I plan on using pitching as my main technique. Pitching Soft plastics and jigs mainly. I also want to try and use a drop shot more often and slow rolling spinnerbaits. I probably wont use crankbaits or toppwater that much this year.

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Definately Senkos and other plastics.

fishing user avatarWill reply :

Going to go for the plain old texas rigged plastic worm. I used to catch alot of fish with it, then this year I just never really fished them much. Its still a deadly technique and fewer people are thorwing them anymore.

fishing user avatartexasbass1 reply :

I need to spend more time learning to fish off shore structure as well. But it is so much fun to catch them up shallow.

fishing user avatarchicobass reply :

MY MAIN GOAL IS TO BE SLOWER & MORE DILIGENT AROUND STRUCTURE, ESPECIALLY WHEN FLIPPING & PITCHING. AND TO GET MY WIFE TO CATCH THAT 6 LB'R THAT SHE DOESN'T THINK IS OUT THERE !!

fishing user avatarmgmoore7 reply :

FISHING MORE!

fishing user avatartopwtr81 reply :

i wanna push my rig over 80 mph 8-)

on a serious note drop shotting I was getting pretty confident by the end of the year and then uh oh the year ended

fishing user avatarBass Hammer reply :

Man where do I start?

The more I focus on something I realize how much farther I want to go with it.

Top of the list this year is jigs and tubes.

fishing user avatarBigBear reply :

Well, I just bought my first boat.  So I would say getting used to that, perfecting the drop shot, jigs, & c-rig.

fishing user avatarGeorge Welcome reply :

You may be a drop shot expert, a Carolina rig guru, or a pitching fool, but if your skills are lacking on finding fish then all the other skills aren't going to help. Learn about the biology of this fish, it's known habits, and seasonal cylcles and you will be way ahead of the game. When fishing hone your observation skills, and your concentration and you will put more fish in the boat.

Fish with a 6'6-7'0 rod med hvy,I've found that when I fish a frog.I hold the rod almost straight up in the air, when the striko occurs.Quickly drop your rod tip while reeling down and set the hook like your trying to rip it's mouth off. By doing this, your allowing time for the fish to "take the bait".Also,I use Lunker Sauce Pro Gel. Since practicing this,my hook up's are around %85-90.

Went back to the plastic worm alot more this past year and had very good success. Had forgotten how much i missed it and plus got my patience and feel back This year going to work on worms (T and C rig), senkos, and jerkbaits more.

fishing user avatarJayPea2005 reply :

Working on taking my game to the next level. lot of tournaments next year. If there were anything I needed to work on it would have to be getting myself to slowwwwwww down. I find myself speeding along and having to slow myself down. I will be glad when it is a natural action instead of having to constantly remind myself.

I will not troll for marlin, I will not troll for marlin, I will not troll for marlin..........

fishing user avatarRattlinrogue reply :

I've always been a pretty fair shallow water angler, and I'll continue that.I also have begun to start "getting it" with deeper water fishing(c-rig,c-baits,drop shot).I'd like to become as comfortable on deep structure as I am fishing shallow. Also, with the addition of pitchin' to my bag of tricks,I hope to become a more complete angler who can handle many different scenarios when it comes to changing conditions.

fishing user avatarwareagle reply :

I am going to work on customizing my lures more.  Instead of just loving of hating them out of the box, I am going to keep some things with me and really try to adapt when the fishing is slow.  Not just tie on another whatevermapopper.
