My wife is going to reno NV for a couple of days with her best friend. This leaves me to take care of my 15 year old dog with CHF. I must stay in our area to give proper medicine at the proper times.
It also opens up 3 days of fishing for me excluding the need to run home and give meds.
This will be my 1st chance at night fishing. Im excited for this as I have never done it.
Il be fishing from the bank. And il be non stop fishing for 3 wonderful days.
Im freakin excited!
Edit: She knows it too. Lmao
Bug spray. Lots of it.
Mine leaves town on Friday for 4-5 days...trying not to look excited about all the fishing coming up
Mine's not going anywhere and I fish almost daily. She's glad to get rid of me for a while.
Mine didn't leave town but labor day weekend was my first Saturday off in 3 months of 6 day weeks... so she let me go fishing saturday Sunday monday

I'll bring the brewskies!
The only sad part is that you aren't able to bring your dog with.
What's with the wife leaving to fish? I just say, "goin' fishing, later". She says, "wear your preserver." and that's pretty much it.
Of course the lake is in my front yard. Maybe that makes a difference.
I've been fortunate. I tell my wife I'm going fishing then, go 3 hundred to 2,500 miles and come back in 3 days to 2 weeks. All she ever says in response is, good luck! It's worked for us for 40 years.
Good luck, and have fun!
Good luck and have fun. Sorry to hear about your dog.

Man I wish I could bring her. But I bring the other one often. But not this time. This time is all me time. Lol

She doesnt mind me fishing. But we love to spend time together. Sometimes she will come and read a book. But as we all know time limits while fishing are infuriating. If she is there there will be a time limit.
I dont like to take time away from my family to fish. I fit fishing in when I have time. Which I have alot of. I just dont get alot of 12 hour days of fishing. More like 3-6. And if she is with me. Like 2-3.

My wife went to AZ to visit her sister this summer. She was gone for 6 days. I fished so much my casting arm was sore! I usually go 2 or 3 times a week anyway. She doesn't mind.
Have fun fishing.
My wife travels several times a month for her Job, gone weeks at a time on occasion.
I pass the time on the water ????

I'm in a similar situation. I love to be with my wife and son. Fishing takes a back seat the vast majority of the time. I generally make my longest forays when wife is working on the weekend and my boy is at grandma's house. Others may go fishing to escape, but that's not where I am at in life.
Wear protective boots, there are creepy crawlers around and better to be safe then sorry. In south Florida I see them all the time, at least you don't have gators.
Bug spray for sure. I use a thrermacell. Also use your sense of feel rather than sight while night fishing. Be careful and have fun!

Thermacell is one of my better investments for sure......around the water and in a treestand.
Mine left permanently a year and half ago. Best thing that has happened to me!!

I’ve recently crossed that line myself. It’s bitter sweet. What do you mean your not mad I’m going out. I’ll see you in a little while. Lol.

Same here. When she does go away for a few days my usual 1-2 hour fishing trips become 6-8 hour ones.
As far as night fishing goes, carry plenty of bug repellent. I would also bring a high powered flashlight, 120 lumens or above. If you don't have one already get yourself a Jitterbug lure. One of the best night-time fishing lures out there.
Reno could be expensive, hope you have spending limit on credit cards.
Late replying to this thread, it's really about night fishing....alone.
What could go wrong?
Take your cell phone.
Be very careful where you choose to fish from the bank at night to reduce the chance of falling. We don't have a lot of harmful critters but we do have rattle snakes that are out and about at night.
read the night fishing threads, everything is thoroughly cover.
Good luck and be safe.

I fished off a fishing dock which was well lit on the boat launch area during the night fishing I did. Saftey is always my #1 concern especially when im alone.
I did learn that night fishing is not exactly my favorite lol. I wouldnt mind it with a couple of buddies but it just felt odd to be alone in the dark not being able to see what is exactly going on.
Enjoy it man - I always go fishing everyday when the wife is out of town.
She knows it and supports it

"Casting arm." Is that what they're calling it these days?????
