I know a few of you folks out there are looking to learn jigs a bit better this yr. I put together a few quick minutes of video for a very brief intro. This shows how I use a jig. I don't pitch or flip at my lake as the only stuff to flip or pitch to is the bank and I am not a shoreline fisherman, I prefer the deeper water structure, targeting the bigger fish and avoiding the more abundant , aggressive males, that own the shoreline.
So here's a quicky for you, a few things to think about when picking up your jig set up. FYI- this isn't anything special or even well done, just something I threw on video for muddy man last time I was out.
JIGGIN'
Very Informative!!!
Simplicity
You calling me "simple"??? ;D ;D
Thank You Much Russ! Jigs are my May Challange, it probablly will be a lot longer til I get one ;D
The only 2 approachs I have used is the Popping and Dragging I will use what you showed on the vid. I don't know about the Jiggling your tip suggestion, back in St Josephs grammar school the nuns warned us about that sort of thing
Written transcripts of show please??????????? ;D
j/k
Dial-up out here in the boonies deprives me of the luxuries of a high speed connection :'(
nice work russ, thanks for the video
What about BOAT CONTROL!!!! ;D
That really helps! Thank you!
Where's the southern accent?
QuoteWhat about BOAT CONTROL!!!! ;D
COULDN'T WAIT FOR THAT OPENING! COULD YOU KU
thanks LBH! I plan on working on jiggin' this year as well so I really appreciate this, it was very informative.
Nice video, Thanks. The streaming seems to be eratic though I've got high speed and it was up and down maybe the site was having high traffic volume.
You're welcome guys. Maybe I could do one on pitching and flipping for you also, I'm not the best at it but I'm sure I could give it a shot.
If any of you proficient flippers and pitchers want to shoot me a PM, I could use some tips and suggestions of how to illustrate the techniques, things not to forget, etc I'll pay a little more attention this time, like I said, I was floating and throwing the jig anyway so I just turned the camera on and winged it,lol.
If any flipper/pitchers who are video ready would like to step in and make it, that would be cool too. If noone is interested though, I'll make one.
Anyone?
No more Rod Jigglin though this is a family oriented site you know
Great video Russ! Very informative!
Yea I'm calling you simple & that's a good thing when fishing jigs
Thank you! That was very informational.
Russ, you just produced the kind of video that I've always wanted to see, but seldom do. The hand and rod action was very informative to a realtive newbie like me.
I would very much like to see you produce a pitchin & flippin video - using spinning gear.

Will the flippin and pitchin video include baitcast equipment ?
lbh, very informative, better explanation than that charlie moore guy or alot of other tv shows out there, thank you

I suppose I could do both.
"Here fishy, fishy." Never works for me either. ;D
Great info though.
Now that's my idea of an informative tutorial
I don't believe I've ever seen a cram course demonstrating all four major jig presentations.
Super job Russ, you covered all the main bases and you did it in Jig Time
Roger
Outstanding.
Very generous and creative.
I was really hoping for you to get hammered but unlike Bill and Rowland you can't condense a day of fishing into one quick video.
Thank you,
avid.
QuoteI was really hoping for you to get hammered
That makes two of us Avid.
That's the part of jig-fishing where I need the most help ;D
Roger
Thanks that was a good video!!
