No TW Father’s Day Sale? 2024

fishing user avatarMegastink reply :

I remember TW having some good sales on Fathers Day in the past. Not this year? Are they running it late? What gives?

fishing user avatar18RangerZ520L reply :

Who knows, but I just found out they're charging sales tax for KY now....  :mad1:

They aren't charging it, they are collecting it. The only folks who charge sales tax is the government.

Thanks! I was hoping for TW because I want to order a special run color of Rage plastics. Just looking to save a few more dollars.

Neither does Tackle Warehouse have an option on whether to collect it or not. Thankfully, we still get by in Mississippi.

fishing user avatarCarpCasey reply :

They just started taking sales tax in Iowa too

fishing user avatarrtwvumtneer6 reply :

I believe last years 4th of July sale was 15% if you're able to wait and see if they offer it again.  Some items excluded, of course.  Hoping for the same this year.  My wish list is getting out of control ????

Collecting, charging - who cares.  I've got to pay it now that's all that matters... ????

Just a matter of time before all online shopping is taxed as if you were in a brick and mortar in your own state

It's already taxed. The difference is the requirement for retailers to collect it. In theory, buyers are supposed to self report and remit the sales tax on items purchased, where collection did not occur

I care. We have to remit sales tax to the city and state on sales quarterly based on sales. If I neglect, forget, or decide otherwise not to collect it, it comes out of my pocket.

fishing user avatarWRB reply :

Father's Day sales follow Mother's Day sales.

Sounds easy don't it? I don't wish sporting goods retailing on my worst enemy...

Id rather pay TW sales tax, than pay sales tax to BPS.

Either one - it's your home state that gets the money. That's where the collected tax goes to...in your case, the State of Illinois Department of Revenue.

Then I'm confused - why object to one company collecting tax on behalf of ILL. while having no issues with a different company doing the exact same thing?

What ticks me off is we always listed all of our internet purchases on our taxes, where they of course took out the money then giving a slightly smaller tax return. This was invisible to me, so who cared.

Now when I do a 200-300 dollar gift card order, it will be very visible to me! My solution is to get product up to the gift cards and pay the tax in credit, probably not an option for all though.

Just a bummer that too many people abused the system by not reporting purchases and forced the change.

I hate to break it to you but you're in the 1% of people that actually reported internet sales tax.  even accountants recommended not listing anything

OK ? I would gladly pay TW , rather than BPS because of theyre high prices, etc. I can list more reasons?

I think you're missing the point. You're not "paying" anyone but the government. Higher prices or not, they're not pocketing the sales tax.

My wife is our accountant, so she just followed the rules. Wonder how many calls companies get about this, because it wasn't common knowledge it was taking place.

You're the one missing the point.  He is saying that all things being equal, both collecting sales tax, TW has better prices and would rather support them than BPS
