Hi all,
I need help from our members. I'll be spending a day on the water with Shaw Grigsby. I would like to compose a list of questions from our members and post the answers after the classic. So if you could ask him one question, what would it be?
Mr. Shaw Grigsby,
If you were only allowed one lure to fish a tournament, what lure would it be and why?
-Collin "BASSclary"
Whats the most important lesson fishing has taught you?
i'd ask him to say BIG OLE PIIIIIIIG
How do you make adjustments (i.e., reassess your situation) to your plan of attack if you come to the realization that your game plan isn't panning out?
For example, if you're fishing rip rap in say 20' of water with nothing to show for it, do you change lure color first, or lure size, or even lure type, or do you move in closer or go deeper?
I've kept it generic because I don't want to have any constraints on his thought process. I also wonder if it would be better to first make observations of water and atmospheric conditions and other happenings first.
As a bank angler 99.999% of the time, I really think it would be helpful to know, especially without the aid of sonar using equipment.
You'll also have to tell him I've adopted his lines, "He just crushed it," or "pummeled it!" I love those lines.
The other question I have for him is, "Mr. Shaw, may I go fishing with you?" ;D
Thanks, Keri!
We have an event coming up on Kentucky Lake
towards the end of April. Do you have any specific
suggestions for that lake in early spring?
8-)
What is the most important, single piece of advice you would give young anglers who are wanting to pursue a career in the fishing industry?
Outside of Bass what is your favorite species of fish to catch? Salt and Freshwater?
Have you ever been kicked out of a bar for being too drunk?
What was the biggest SMB you've landed and what did it hit ?
A-Jay
What is the secret to such a killer mustache
What kind, and where can I get a pair of those gloves you wear for sun protection.

I have to second this.. It's necessary if you want to get the full Shaw Grigsby experience.

;D ;D ;D
Have you ever tried fluoro with topwater? If so, do you like it? Because I, BASSclary, does.
I was reading about how you're able to catch larger fish on a spinning reel by reversing the crank of the reel instead of messing with the drag, how did you come to figure this out?
I would ask him for any tips on boat control and positioning. Thanks Keri.
Jim
Ok folks, this is your last chance to ask Shaw a question.
I would ask if it gets tiresome that most anglers think all he does is ride around fishing the best lakes without thinking about all the miles, weather, zero paychecks, sponsor obligations, and being away from home. Is there any way to give us weekend anglers an honest view of what being a pro is all about?
I have total respect for pro anglers for their commitment to the effort it takes to get to the top and stay there. This months BassMaster magazine had an article that covered some of Ike's travel adventures, I really enjoyed reading about his travel mis-adventures being a pro.
In his opinion -- what is the number one mistake weekend anglers make?
or-
What is the number one change that weekend anglers can make to be a better angler?
Similar to what was mentioned above:
When you realize that your plan of attack isn't producing as well as you would like, what is the FIRST thing you change? Color, Lure, depth, etc.

;D my wife and I love to watch his show just for that
QuoteHave you ever been kicked out of a bar for being too drunk?
hahahahahahah
i would like to know if the bite was slow would he change the color of a lure or the type of lure first and why?
The interview went great! Can't wait to show it to you folks!
You're an amazing sight-fisherman. What's the most unexpected response to a lure you've ever seen? How has it changed your approach? Thanks
I had a ton of fun on the water with Mr. Grigsby, I believe all the questions listed and more will be answered. I got about 3 ½ hours worth of tape so bear with us it's a bit of a process to break it all down so we can post it.
Thanks everyone for the great questions.

That must have been awesome. It sounds like Shaw Grigsby is as genuine in person as he is on television. Congrats to you, Keri, can't wait to see the vid.
Will you take NateFollmer fishing?
No seriously, can't wait to see it! Shaw is a good man!
More of a compliment... that was unbelievable how he was able to tie in all his sponsors at the final weigh-in. He had me crackin up how he fit them all in in 1-2 sentences. It was almost like watching the Truman Show. Simply awesome!
Im excited for the video!
When are we getting the question answers? :-?
It's going to be awhile big guy. There's nearly 4 hours of stuff, so I'm going to have to break it apart into smaller chunks. There's a lot of editing that needs to be done.
I have to say it's true we have so much to break down but it'll be worth the wait. It was such a fun day on the water and I really can't wait to share. Hang there we are working day and night.
