Here in Cali the spawn is on in most lakes. How far along are your lakes?
Still frozen in northern MI.
Prespawn hasn't even started around here. Struggling through the late winter season still.
completely frozen still
They should be by this weekend!
Pre spawn here
The spawn is on here, been having a lot of fun bank fishing since the fish are all shallow and right up on the bank!
18" of ice on my lake yet.
Still frozen over up here. People were still ice fishing this past weekend, but it won't be long before parts of the lake start to open up.
Anna in VA is on the verge, water temps hovering 45/46, Just need that one push of heat to finally get this season kicked into action
Nope, pre spawn here
Prespawn here most places. Someone said a power plant lake nearby had some males on the bed this past weekend.
Here in CT.. Lakes are just beginning to thaw out..
here in central VA they are pre-prespawn lol i am hoping this recent warm spell moves some of them up and i sure hope to find out this weekend if that is the case.
Central Florida - Yes (every year this time)
Roger
No. Not in Virginia.
Will not start until the Dogwoods begin to have buds and the bass will be on their beds when the Dogwoods bloom.
Yes ~
But only in my own little mind . . . . .
A-Jay
Yep. Caught a 9lber yesterday sight fishing
Nope. Ponds still covered in thin layers of ice.
Nothing here yet. Lakes are thawing but not quick enough for me.
The first wave has already happened & there are balls of fry swimming around a good number of the docks. Those bass who spawned are still shallow & still catchable, just oriented differently & in a different mood. A few late sleepers have recently moved up on to beds, but the number I see is about 25% of what I saw weeks ago. Surface water temperature topped 70 degrees last weekend.
no
Had flurries this morning....
well we still got a foot and a half of ice on the lakes around here so the only place well be seeing beds here is in a mattress store.
Ya gotta love it! Here we're still dealing with almost 2' of ice on the lakes. And with temps going down to almost zero tonight, it's doubtful that there will be any kind of improvement anytime soon.
My lakes just thawed out last week they usually don't spawn until May here.

I feel your pain. Saturday I hiked about a 1/2 mile or so in 6-10" of snow to a local pond and there was still snow on top of all the ice. And like you the temps are now dropping again with some snow expected Friday.
Spawning in South Georgia but in Prespawn around Atlanta
Not until May around here, just starting to thaw now.

The weather gods are cursing us for global warming
I'm seeing a lot of beds now, I'm also seeing a lot of heat, humidity and bugs. I'll still be doing a little of bass and peacock fishing, I'm concentrating my efforts on other species.

Yeah, we had about 4-5 inches of snow i guess here Friday, but most of it melted today. Drove by a trout pond today, it was partially frozen still(to thin to walk on), but part you could fish. I'm going to have to get the boat ready soon, oncemy registration comes in.

True, True. Due it being hot today, almost all the snow and the ice melted. I will definetly be fishing this Wedsnday.
We have had a longer prolonged Winter here than usual. Temps will be in the 70's to low 80's next couple of weeks. The big mama's will move and stage to spawn on their beds. I'll skip it and instead pick up my Crappie outfit and enjoy some of the finest Crappie fishing that can be found anywhere. The bite was strong yesterday with some nice slabs being caught.
Old school basser...
No, not yet.
Central VA (from my own observations) is still in prespawn. Water temps are mid 40's and fluctuating. Cold front just passed through. Some small ones are cruising the shallows but all quality fish that ive seen caught and caught myself have been between 8 and 15 feet +/-
It snowed this morning.

LOL. For us jersey boys, it looks like it is warm enough for the first time this year, to go fishing.
Most of the lakes are still mostly frozen. Some of the smaller ponds are barely thawed out or are only thawed out where there is moving water coming in/out.
Ice just left our lakes for the first time all winter just over a week ago. Right now we're getting a mix of snow/sleet/rain. Short answer - spawn is at least a month away or more. Not rushing it - would like to enjoy the pre-spawn a while

The spawn is a far away thought for us here in Northern New England. I went ice fishing this past weekend on a larger lake and there was still 1.5 feet of snow on top of 3 feet of ice. It is going to be awhile. We need some much warmer temps. This past sunday it was -5 in the morning and -2 this morning. It will be spring by July I hope.

I have seen some beds recently on the Alley, but not to the volume of some other years. Water has remained higher then normal, so they may be bedding back out in the marsh rather then in the canals.
No. Over the last three weeks we have thawed and Smithville lake has gone from frozen to surface temperatures of 42 - 44 degrees. Some small ponds have already hit 50 - 52 degrees, but we are encountering a slight cool spell over the next few days with lows in the upper 20s and highs in the 40s. I'm sure some of you further north would give anything to have temperatures like that so I am counting my blessings. I have caught a few fish but nothing bigger than 3 lb 2 oz so far.
The weather finally hit the 70's here about three weeks ago for a few days. I decided to go out and test my luck... A lot of 1-2 lb. fish were biting and a few 3-4 lb. fish were caught. I'll probably head out tomorrow or Thursday and try it again.
Pre spawn. I've been catching 3's.

I'm looking forward to an agressive POST spawn bite in the next few weeks!
My local lake here in MD has plans to open for boaters this Saturday! It's the latest opening in the lakes history! The lake opened back in the mid 80's...
Almost there!! Can't wait!
Still an ice rink this far north.....some day I will fish again.
