Fishing Resolutions 2024

fishing user avatartopwater.va reply :

What are you New Years fishing resolutions?

Mine are to spend less money(on fishing which is where most of the money goes), catch more fish, and either get out on someone's boat or start tube or kayak fishing.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Find where I lost all the Double D's, aint had one for 2 years  ;)

fishing user avatarfishfordollars reply :

Finally get my new motor through the breakin period. Gonna happen Jan 9th. Then I can bust it loose and see if it will really run.

Get on some fish and win a few $$$

fishing user avatarHuntFishAK reply :

Catch a fish on a jig.  I've never used one so I really want to learn it.

fishing user avatarbassin_man reply :

Get out more.  The amount of times I got out fishing this year is small enough to make anyone cry.  Ontop of that is join a club and place in the money in at least one tournament.  My longshot resolution is to be Angler of the Year in said club.

fishing user avatarSDoolittle reply :

Catch a DD. I've been bass fishing for 30 years and my PB is only 8.5 lbs. I live ten minutes from a lake that routinely gives up 10+ pounders, so it's an obtainable goal.

fishing user avatarbrushhoggin reply :

enter my first tournament on my towns reservoir this year now that i got some spots under mybelt

fishing user avatarHelluva_Engineer reply :

Actually catch fish on/learn to use jigs, flukes, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits(consistently). Learn how to identify patterns to locate fish using something other than the trial and error/previous experience. Also, get a boat setup that isn't makeshift.

at least you've had one lol.  My big fish goal this year was to break 5 pounds, came as close as possible without going over that "magical" 5 pounder mark.  But up here a 3-4 pound fish is "big".

Catch a DD............. :)

X2.

I spent most of last year working on Texas Rigs, so I would like to spend more time working on some hard baits this year. And learning when, where, and how to throw them better than I already do.

fishing user avatarScorcher214 reply :

I really would like to get out more. I'll be getting my license in March and will be able to go fishing whenever I want instead of relying on other people.

fishing user avatarlittle_stephen reply :

Ive got a couple of easy ones......

1. find a goto bait for my new home lake (there are lilypads 100 yards from my front door)

2. teach my best friend to fish lily pads..... (hes never even used artificial baits before.... im in for a treat)

3. find time to fish the Portage Lakes. (north east ohio hidden gem!)

all pretty simple........ ;)

fishing user avatarRobE reply :

Re-up my SCUBA cert, have tank filled and sell used lures to my friends.  :D

I have driven through the Portage lakes areas with some family who live in Ohio.  those places look like some nice fishing.

fishing user avatarlittle_stephen reply :

Ya! theres TONS of little lakes here. like the ones ive learned to fish on. but the portage lakes are a little larger (still small by comparison to the local resvrs.)

but theyre packed with all sorts of good fish!

they have a big gambler no entry fee tourney there basically every year!

I havent had a chance to fish them yet. but theres miles of shore line to cover! Ill keep u posted. :)

fishing user avatarknap reply :

learn how to identify patterns for sure :-?

fishing user avatarSWMIBASSER reply :

Fish a few new lakes. Focus on smallmouth more.

Fish a lake over 5000 acres. (this will probably be Burt and Mullet lakes-18,000, and 17,000 acres-HUGE for me)

fishing user avatarangler1 reply :

Fish earlier in the morning, fish more often, and break the 5 pound mark. Tried to break 5lbs last year but could not. My PB is 4-14.

fishing user avatarzero limit reply :

This is the year i get a used canoe or small boat, nothing big cuz the lakes that are close to me are elec. motors only

fishing user avatarThefishy1 reply :

Use more ribbon tail worms.

Seriously, I dont know why I dont throw them. I just use a shakey head or jig instead, but this year I will get back to them.

fishing user avatarBUCKEYEone reply :

I've only been bass fishing for about 3 years, and I've spent a lot of time learning what baits work and what ones I just waste time on.  This year I want to 1) spend less money on lures and 2) concentrate on my go-to baits and hopefully 3) buy 1-2 more rod/reel set-ups

...and like every day of every year, improve my PB for LM and SM

fishing user avatar190sxchamp reply :

This year I want to learn to use my electronics in my boat better. I've always been a bank beater and I want to be able to locate and catch fish that are not related to the bank.

fishing user avatarbilgerat reply :

This season I get serious about crankbaits.

fishing user avatarVABassin'14 reply :

Enter in a few tournaments, learn how to fish a lizard, learn how to fish a tube, and most importantly spend more time on the water.

fishing user avatarKingbass43 reply :

Catch my first mounter http://www.bassresource.com/fishing-forum/Templates/Forum/default/grin.gif

fishing user avatarCHEVYRIDAZ reply :

Definitely to fish new lakes that are deeper structure as apposed to shallow cover flippin'.

fishing user avatarEternal Angler reply :

Lose weight and get a six pack(not beer).  Also get a job.
