Fishound.com. Anyone Use Them? 2024

fishing user avatarTiNuts reply :

I keep getting emails from them to sign up. So many that it seems like a scam. I searched here and came up with nothing. I haven't found anything negative about them on google, but not a whole lot of anything positive either, except what sounded like it came from employees.

Just curious if anyone here used them, and if not, why not?

fishing user avatargripnrip reply :

I don't believe it's a scam. They are a sponser of Major League Fishing. They seem to be a competitor of Mystery Tackle Box. I don't have either one. IMO I wouldn't have asked on the forum because MTB is an advertisor on bass resource. I mean no disrespect.

fishing user avatarTiNuts reply :

None taken. This happens to be the only fishing forum I'm a member of. And I didn't mean to spite MTB or anything either as I've been researching both of them, but if this is the type of forum that's run by advertisers and any mention of any competition, or complaints of sponsors is forbidden, then please show me the door.

The Forum is not run by advertisers and members can reference other companies as long as they have no

association with the company. We have a few exceptions that are filtered, but for the most part it's pretty much

open.

fishing user avatarTiNuts reply :

Cool. Thank you. I also didn't mean any disrespect or anything to the forum by my previous post either, if anyone takes it that way. I've been on forums like that before and they're no good.

fishing user avatargripnrip reply :

Ah crud! Well I have a case of my head up something sometimes. At least that's what the wife says anyways! :-)

The mention is fine with us. We are just one of many advertisers...

But we are actually a bit different. They are a "club" where you pay for a year and you get a certain amount of points and you get to pick out a few products from their site and they send them to you. Then you have to take long surveys and leave specific reviews in order to get more points so you can eventually get enough points to try more stuff. Kind of a similar idea to North American Fisherman's Club.

Our service is quite different. You pay $15 a month you get a box of lures that you may not have tried before. It's guaranteed to be worth at least $15 and the shipping is free. You don't have to leave any kinds of reviews or take surveys and you can cancel your boxes any time.

fishing user avatarTheKingFisher reply :

I just watched a few Mystery Tackle Box unboxing videos on youtube to get a feel for how much and how varied the content of the boxes is.  They look pretty good.

Overall it looks like a fun way to get some new and different stuff.  Great for a tackle junkie like myself.  I like this setup better than what's being described for fishhound.  I'm going to try to talk my wife into getting a MTB sub as a late birthday present.  It's the gift that keeps on giving!

fishing user avatarTrapperJ reply :

I keep hearing about fishound, but mystery tackle box sounds more fun and good feedback. just signed up my self, use GET499 coupon code and you get $10 off your first subscription.

fishing user avatarJohn Loughlin reply :

My intention was to be upfront that i worked for fishhound and to just give an honest overview of our program without being disrespectful to anyone.  What did i do wrong?

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Thanks for the explanation, Rick.

I know the feeling, at least until I had a colonoscopy.  When the doc spoke with me, I asked him if he found my head up there he laughed and assured me he did not.  I asked him if he would tell my wife that she was wrong.  He laughed even harder.  My wife was mortified, because she was the chief nursing officer of the hospital.  It's even worse when I see the urologist.

fishing user avatarTrapperJ reply :

Okay now i want both, :)

fishing user avatarswanseabass reply :

I use fish hound and I like it.

fishing user avatarSudburyBasser reply :

I'd join Fishhound, they have a promo now for $150 worth of gear for $39 -- but the only reels and most rods they have, because I really don't need any more lures -- are fly. Seems interesting though...

fishing user avatarEdRitchie reply :

We're memebers of Fishhound. Really works out good for us. Easy to use and all quality stuff.

Looking at Mystery Tackle box next

Ed

Does fishhound give samples too?? Bummer.

fishing user avatarLunker7 reply :

I just looked at Fishound's website and MTB sounds better.

fishing user avatardeaknh03 reply :

I just looked at fishhounds site, $39 gets you $125 to spend on gear, plus a $20 GC every month to buy more gear. Thats on top of the content and other discounts you get. I feel this is a great deal, plus you get to pick your own stuff.

fishing user avatarIma Bass Ninja reply :

I use the fish hound mobile app for iPhone to quickly view the fishing reports for my favorite water. It has worked very well for me with no problems at all. It was free and I and helps out with my night before fishing plans.

fishing user avatarxxjace reply :

I had someone give me fishound stickers at the FLW show but I don't ever use stickers unless its something actually use..

I'm curious to know the thinking behind this post?

This shouldn't turn into a MTB vs Fishhound debate . . Both seem to offer great deals and No reason you can't have both and get the the best of both worlds if that's what you choose. Each company seems to be trying to better our fishing experiences by promoting their service. E-mails, stickers, little boxes on the right side of websites are just all forms of marketing. It's up to the vendor to choose the best route for their product.

fishing user avatarBassinB reply :

My biggest question about fishound is it says you get $20 in gift cards every month to places LIKE TackleW, BTD, etc etc... Is that A $20 gift card to TackleW? or is that 4 $5 giftcards to different places LIKE tw?

fishing user avatarswanseabass reply :

4 cards $5 gift cards

fishing user avatarBassMaster#1 reply :

I just signed up to see what was offered with the intention to sign up for $49 for a year. Changed my mind after logging on. The reel and rod selection are fly fishing equipment. The monthly gift cards are cool but the bait selection is not for me and the points to purchase these bait seem to be as much as they would cost at the store but without shipping. I understand your getting $125 for $49 but where is the crankbait selection. No spro kvd or lucky craft lures. I didn't even see a spinnerbait section. If I wrong I apologize and point me in the right direction.

I have used mystery tackle box and will continue to use it. Almost every package if gotten has been great. Use get499 to try is yourself.

good to know... I'll pass.  I also was a little dissapointed by the selection on the website. Sounds like a great idea, and a good deal.  Although if it really was just as good as it sounds they couldn't possibly turn a profit.

Me too. It sounded like a great deal, then I checked out the available reels, lures etc, and the deal wasn't so good after all. On top of the very limited selection, you have to pay for the shipping. I think I will stick to TW directly.

Wise words, and good stopping point for this discussion.
