Well guys, we've done all we could do. I want to thank everyone that took the time to rally behind this. All we can do is try and that we did.
I would like to thank Joel StGermain for expediting this response from Charlie's peeps.
Hi Russ,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Unfortunately Charlie will not be able to accept your challenge. Not because we don't think it
is a great idea and a great cause but for a couple of other reasons that are not fully publicized.
First, ESPN has decided that there will no longer be a $5000 prize. When Charlie is challenged
by someone on the show they now come up with their own stakes.
Second, ESPN also wants Beat Charlie Moore to focus on other species besides freshwater bass on
the show.
Sorry to disappoint, but please let us know if we might be able to support (especially here in
New England) with things like merchandise, autograph cards, etc
Thanks for watching

Beat Charlie Moore
That's to bad.I thought it was a good idea.
ok guys, this isn't a thread to bash Charlie or ESPN or anyone else, I just wanted to follow up with everyone now that we have gotten a reply.
Thanks
The TRUTH is not always PRETTY Hey Just havin some fun, not to be taken seriously :
Have you thought about getting some of that autographed apparel and auctioning it off. Might be a good way to get some donation money for Cast for Kids.
I bet if you said you were Ted Nugent again they would..Like I said last year and Ill say it again it is about the bottom dollar..Nobody cares about Charlie fishing against me (im an insurance salesman)..Its about what sales..Good try anyways..
Their loss.
Ronnie

They did say they would support with merchandise etc.....
You tried, that's all anyone can do.
I would like to thank you for your effort though!
I do have to admit that I'm shocked that they actually gave you a reply. That's way more than I expected. Like you said, Russ, there's no need to bash anyone for it. I think many of us are displacing our negative feelings toward the network (because of the downward demise of "Bass Saturday") toward this "Beat Charlie Moore" challenge. At least the "Charlie Moore" people were up front and honest with you and didn't leave you hanging with some automated "Thank you for your e-mail, we'll consider you" response. Russ, I give you props for trying and being persistent.
God bless,
Fisher

No bashing from me . . . just the facts to answer their reasons for not meeting our challenge.
1) The challenger and Charlie come up with their own stakes now, instead of $5000. Great!! He and BassResource.com representatives can determine what the stakes are, which would obviously include monies for CAST.
2) ESPN wants Charlie to fish for other species as well as bass. Fine. Some of his challenges will still be for bass, correct? So he could still meet our challenge. eventually.
My point isn't to bash anyone. The point I'm making is that the reasons given for not meeting the BassResource.com challenge don't hold water when held up to the light of the truth. Neither one of these reasons given should prohibit Charlie from meeting the BassResource.com challenge. It just might take longer but that's it.
Russ aint you a salt water angler as well?
I say let's go ahead and raise the money for a challenge here

I did reply with an offer to call on me if they were interested in Striper, Bluefish or Bonita on the fly or Giant Bluefin off Stellwagen Bank. I said we are a full spectrum foundation,...surely we can fit this win/win scenario in SOMEWHERE! lol
Seriously, I just appreciate that Joel got this to the proper set of eyes and that they took the time to reply.

Catt,
You read my mind. Let ESPN name the game and we back our challenger LBH. I would be in for a cash donation or a custom wrapped rod, whatever. This would be a lot of fun and there's really no way to lose.
Ronnie
Hey Russ! To bad that didn't pan out with Charlie Moore I love that show and would have enjoyed seeing BR reps on it.
How about " BEAT LBH "
For a pheunominal donation members of this forum can challenge you and and the prize for beating LBH
could be A LITTLE RED BOAT
Charlie if you're scared just say you're scared :'(
Ronnie I got me a couple bucks I can put on the Hooker
LBH,
If you made stickers for for boats that said Low Budget Hookers I'd pay for one to put on my boat. I'd even put one on my truck. The profit can go to you or cast I dont care. It would be classic. Old Ranger 330v going down the lake with a wrap that says LOW BUDGET HOOKERS, then I smoke'em all that run 30k+ boats.
Team Low budget hookers
AHHHH too bad at least we tried.

Sorry to hear that LBH, I thought for sure with some of the direct contact you have had recently that it would have had a brighter outcome.
It was a great effort. Thanks for spearheading this, LBH. I guess I should appreciate that we received a reply. I just thought they could have given more logical reasons for not doing this.
I agree that we shouldn't bash the little girlie man.

Bummer. I was looking forward to this.
I'm seeing it more and more with many TV shows. Something new works, and they get a fairly decent following. Then the executive brain-trust thinks its time to change the format to increase and expand viewers and impressions. Changes are made and ratings initially surge because they benefit from continued core fans views and a level of new viewers. Then not to long they experience a decrease in viewing by the core fans, which become disenchanted with the new format. Finally, the brain-trust scratch their heads wondering what happened, and blame everyone but themselves for their obvious miscues and the top execs buy into the lame excuses. The brain-trust then leave to take a higher position somewhere else in the organization along with larger pay. Man only in America.
"Well screw it, I"M goin' fishing anyway!"
-also, only in America
And mark my words, there WILL be a CAST event in Massachussettes regardless!
LBH,
SORRY TO HEAR THE BAD NEWS.....WHEN YA GOT THIS ROLLIN ALMOST 2 YRS AGO, I THOUGHT FOR SURE IT WOULD BE SOMETHING GREAT FOR ALL. THOSE ARE THE BREAKS MAN...... :-/
GO FOR THE MERCHANDISE...AND SELL FOR C.A.ST. I'D BUY SOMETHING...PUT IT ON THE AUCTION THREAD.....
