What Would You Buy? 2025

fishing user avatarDylan.747 reply :

I am going to do some shopping around and want to pick up a bunch of new baits and lures. I'm looking to spend 200-250 dollars in order to do some restocking for the upcoming spring months. If you were me, what all would you purchase? I need a wide range of baits and lures. I have a little bit of everything right now, but could use some reinforcements, especially soft plastics.

fishing user avatarSenko lover reply :

My spring list includes:

-Red lipless crankbaits

-Spinnerbaits

-Senkos

-Lizards

-Flukes

-Craws

-Walk-the-dog bait.

-Rebel Minnow

-Lucky Craft Kelly J or another prop bait for over the beds.

I have all of those so far except flukes, lizards, and some red Rat L Traps, which I'll be getting soon. Those should cover your bases.

Never said I needed help. I simply asked what others would purchase when in my shoes.

fishing user avatartravis23 reply :

I wont list the baits as i think others have covered that, but i honestly would spend alot of that on terminal tackle. Youre going to want those new shiny lures, but really, good hooks are more important IMO. i dont know maybe you have that covered, but if i have that much to spend i always buy some terminal tackle. Go with Owner too!!

fishing user avatarlordhell reply :

One of the best top water walk the dog lure: Jackall Bowstick 130.  It's tough and the finish will take a beating unlike other cheaper lures.  Worth the money.  Try Ghost Minnow pattern.

^^This for sure^^

The question is, are you already catching fish?  If the answer is yes, why buy anything unless it's a replacement for what's already working.  If the answer is no your are not catching fish, I'd suggest learning to use what you have, by your own admission you have a little bit of everything.  I bass fish with only 5 lures, knowing how to use them is what catches fish.

Yes, I am already catching fish! (although it's slow where I am) It's not so much of a "I need more lures, bait, and terminal tackle," but more of a "I want more lures, bait, and terminal tackle." And, I will be buying more of what I already have that has been effective for me. This is also an attempt to broaden my lure spectrum per se. I just want to learn how to use everything.

I read this whole thread, and kept wondering when someone was going to ask the OP " what do you have now"?. Then the rest of us could fill in blanks with what we (according to our ideas) thought. The way it came down, it sounds like the shopping list all of us have, but with someone else's money.  Just buy a bunch of senkos. Problem solved.

You're absolutely right.

How often do people post having enough lures and baits to open a small tackle shop.  Then they go fishing only to take a portion of what they have, once fishing much of what they have taken never gets used, but they are prepared, lol.

Lures and baits can be categorized into a handful of groups, between all the different manufactures there is a lot of overlapping and redundancy.  It's fun once in awhile to trying something different for a little variation.  Just because a fish was caught on a new lure probably more coincidence than magic.  IMO if one is already zeroed in on what works for them, don't see much reason to have an over abundance of stuff that may not get used all that much.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Well some guys collect stamps, others collect coins. I collect tackle.

My hobby is more than just catching fish, I like to play with my toys!

So, I always look forward to the new introductions at the Classic

and ICAST. The Rapala Shadow Rap and Mann's Reel 'N Shad look

especially interesting. I will be fishing some new Pinnacle, Okuma

and G. Loomis rods and reels, too!

Oops! I left out my #1 new lure, the 6th Sense SX75. I received two

of these from A-Jay for Christmas and can hardly wait to guve them

a try.

Back to the OP...I have had the opportunity to fish with a gentleman

from Texas on three occasions. This man probably catches more fish

and bigger bass than anyone here on BassResource.com. As far as I

know he doesn't own a hard bait other than jigs and the Rage Blade.

He designed and fishes every Rage Tail soft plastic. My advice is to

pick up at least one pack of every bait and learn to rig them properly.

Watch the instructional videos here and on the Rage Tail site and you

will have a BIG O year!

Thank you good sir! I've used them sparingly in the past, but I keep hearing good things each year. I'll definitely grab some of these!

I had a feeling this question would come up! But, I have plenty now, but I am looking to broaden my skills and the baits that go along with those skills accordingly. And I like your logic, senkos are my go-to baits....
