Tactical Bassin’ DD 75 crankbait 2025

fishing user avatarJoshua Vandamm reply :

Figure this new crank needs a new thread.
Is it working for people?

Anyone figured out a good line size for fishing it shallow? Like 6-10ft?

fishing user avatarJ._Bricker reply :

I’m kinda looking forward to March 14th of 2020 @Joshua Vandamm when TW is probably going to have them is stock. I’ve got it calendered to be ordered then. Some pros might already have ‘em and I’m also curious as to anyone’s opinion are on those baits...

I hope you preordered.  TW will fulfill all backordered items first and in the case of many baits by waiting for them to be listed as in stock means you may never get them.

I had a few huds on backorder for a year and a half so I ended up cancelling it and buying them off ebay.

fishing user avatarBoatSquirrel reply :

This is a deep, 15'+ diving crank.  So far, caught one 10" white bass.

I do see how on the right day, it could be a killer.  It reminds me of an old Bagleys Kill'r B 2 in the way it wobbles hard and backs up when you stop it.  Throwing mine on 12lb Invizx.

Tried braid to leader but it did not play for me.

Posted a "Cold Water Speed Cranking" thread on this lure 14 Dec.

I received four a couple days ago and will be fishing them Tuesday. They look good and appear to have decent hardware.

I probably will do just that @JediAmoeba, right after my current TW back ordered items arrive. Not to mention those 25 Days of Savings that scheduled ????

My personal opinion at the moment is that this bait is a big step toward tacticalBassin selling out. The video in which they talked about the bait in my opinion was nothing more than an  advertisement. I think the guys are great, but the way they talked about the bait in that video sounded an awfully lot like a sensationalization.

Nothing wrong with that, I just wouldn’t expect the bait to truly be some “game changer” in cranking. It’d be great if I’m wrong.

They helped design it and have their name on it. Of course they're gonna try selling you on it. They've been R2S guys for some time now, too. Along with Dirty Jigs, etc. I can't blame them too much for helping push companies that are helping put food on their table. As long as it doesn't get too crazy.

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

How would you feel if somebody dogged you for having a job and providing for your family?  That's what it's like you put down anglers for promoting products, the majority of which carefully select whom they're going to endorse because their reputation depends upon how well some other company does business and produces products.  They have no control over it, but those companies can control them and their reputation with one screw-up.  It's a tough business.

Sorry, it just irks me to no end when people get all uppity when a pro, youtuber, or otherwise is trying to make an honest living.  It's not right.

fishing user avatarGReb reply :

I think Matt and Tim are both high character guys. I’d be very shocked if they put their name on something they didn’t fully believe in. I believe it was mentioned they worked on this crank for 4 years and are only promoting it for certain cold water situation. Doesn’t sound like a sell out to me. They’ve earned every buck they get as far as I’m concerned

Not my intention at all. In fact, the guys have built an excellent platform with a good reputation. The video about that new bait seemed more of a sales pitch with more sensational claims than what seems typical from them.

Sales and marketing as an honest living is a hard thing to do, and I would argue that most youtubers, pros, etc are NOT honest. My opinion is that TacticalBassin have gone above and beyond in most cases to keep it honest.

I don’t doubt it’s a good bait.

They saw what the GOOGANS can do and want a slice of that pie, good for them.

How many bass anglers will fish this crankbait as it is intended; speed cranking in cold water? My answer is very few that don't watch Tactical Bassing, the few that were interested bought out the first supply.

I know this from past experience with Megabass divers and worked great but didn't sell to the average bass angler. If you want this lure order it, no hype intended but it may not be around after a few years from now.

Yea. that’s the gambit. But I have faith. LOL

If it’s not great they’ll loose a ton of subscribers. I don’t think it’d be worth it even just monetarily.

Been plenty sold and very few reports.  Probably an overhyped sham, like a lot of YouTube ers, guides and overpaid pros promoting $20 crank baits, lipless crankbaits, and chatterbaits  so they will make bank off royalties and won’t have to work.  There are proven  fish catching $5 ones like the original shad rap, rattletrap and chatterbaits.  It’s mid going on late January.  Crickets.  Funny about the guys buying tackle boxes full of them after watching one video.

What kind of reports are you expecting?? You think everyone here has one? They just came out.

Hey, I haven't heard anyone mention the Red Eyed Shad in quite awhile. They must've stopped working.

I'll let you know once I receive them.  Ordered Black Friday, backordered til March.  Boo!

I appreciate that some R&D went in to them.  The Tactical guys fished with them and refined them for a long time.  This isn't just buying up leftover blanks from China and slapping a name and paint on the same product that's been branded five times already.

Designed by TacticalBassin’s own Matt Allen and Tim Little, the River2Sea Tactical DD Crankbaitbrings a new approach to crankbait fishing. With a tight action, strong rattle, and impeccable color patterns, this bait is designed for year-round performance. While a proven fish catcher in warmer waters, this bait continues to shine through the coldest temperatures when other baits fall to the wayside. True year-round crankbait performance has been attained with the Tactical DD Crankbait! With their attention to detail and combined fishing knowledge, Matt and Tim meticulously designed and tested every aspect of this bait for big bass performance.

The Tactical DD Crankbait features a unique head shape that maximizes surface area for maximum dive depth. Combined with a weight transfer system for long-range castability, the bait plunges to the bottom, achieving far greater depths than any similarly sized bait. Each premium finish is designed to elicit a feed response in the biggest bass, while the baits aggressive hunting ability and fast rise, draw reaction strikes from the wariest of bass, even in difficult conditions.

(Bolding mine)

Love the channel. Looks like a crank bait with a whole lot of fancy talk! They look nice though, but $16?

"Weight transfer system" = BBs move when you cast it.

"Aggressive hunting ability" = nothing at all.

What makes it a year round performer? Doesn't say, just says that it is. Must be!

I don't blame them for the claims and sales jargon but I can laugh at it.

I love all the pros when they're promoting squarebills. According to them they all have an erratic hunting action. They almost universally don't and run like metronomes. ????

Ya gotta learn the erratic spastic rod twitch and reel jerk, reel jerk, pause, reel jerk retrieve. Makes for the best erratic hunting action! ;) tongue in cheek.

Sure are a lot of guys here who like to bad mouth people for being successful and taking advantage of their position to provide for their family. If you don't like them, fine. If you won't buy the bait, fine. If you like what you currently use, fine. I just don't understand why some feel the need to talk bad about people who they don't know and about a product they don't intend to use.

Oh well, nothing better to do since they aren't busy fishing, making Youtube videos, designing new baits, and making money while having success in the fishing industry so they turn to BR and bash people more successful than them.

Why because guys paying big bucks for baits like this and jackhammers ultimately drives up the cost of even lower priced baits. When lucky craft hit big initially I remember baits like Rapala and others magically bumping up their prices. Look at a lot of the newer non jackhammer bladed jigs, they are not cheap.

Here's how economics doesn't work - just because someone introduces a product at a certain price point, doesn't automatically mean others will match that price.  High priced items create opportunity for others to introduce similar products that cost less.  This is why every swimbait doesn't cost as much as a Huddleston.  To your point on bladed jigs:

You got it before I deleted it because its just not worth arguing anymore. Overall I stand by my statement that prices went up on other brands after Lucky Craft came out at a higher pricepoint. I did look at TW and there are a lot of blade baits in the 9-10 buck range too. Companies didn't match LCs prices, they just bumped their prices a bit because most people would pay the extra.

I don't blame companies, especially the smaller ones raising prices because many can afford to pay it now, supply and demand. That just limits the options of kids/guys on a budget, and to many folks that doesn't matter. Yes there are still some cheap options out there, just that those options are getting thinner every year. Not every kid can order from every discount site, heck even I don't and I am as thrifty as they come lol.

I am not like some, I have no cares how you all spend your cash, I just hope that fishing stays affordable so future generations grow enjoying the sport as much as we do. No matter how hard I try my 25 days order was difficult for me splurging on the Jackall and Ima jerkbaits and the Edge jig box. Even though for the most part the budget is off that darn thrifty mentality is forever ingrained in my head.
