Tackle tray rip off 2025

fishing user avatarTin Man reply :

I see that Plano and Flambeau large waterproof tackle trays are no longer sold at Walmart. Last year you  old find them for around $5.50 this year you have to go to a place like Cabell bps or Gander mtn and pay over $12,00. Sick and tired of getting ripped off

fishing user avatarOklahoma Mike reply :

Plano 3700 boxes are $8 at Tackle Warehouse.

fishing user avatarNorcalBassin reply :

So fired up you made the same thread 4 times. You're really upset! ;)

fishing user avatarOhio Archer reply :

Order them from Walmart online and have them shipped to the store closest to you.  No charge for shipping like that.

They also marked up the smaller water tight trays 100 % as well.

Walmart still sells the 3700 series water proof trays... They're $10. Cabela's has all Plano trays 25% off right now, at least by me. You just have to look.

I don't pay nowhere near that for storage trays. Go to harbor freight.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Not sure exactly which trays you're talking about but I've bought a few from WalMart the last couple months for under $6. The rust proof Flambeau 3700 size trays.

Wal-Mart keeps them stocked up here.

Great price, can never have enough. Or at least a spare or two.

fishing user avatarMunkin reply :

You can never have enough Plano boxes.

fishing user avataradrenalnjunky reply :

I bought 3 Flambeau 5007 trays @ Wal Mart last week for $3.88 each.  Didn't need them, but for some reason, I noticed these 3 had 4007 stickers on them. Since the sticker is where the UPC is, they rang up at the 4007 price.

At first I thought I was getting in on someone doing a switcheroo to get a few bucks back on a return, or a few bucks off at the register, but then I realized the math didn't work that way since they were still on the shelf.

Might have just been a quality control error in the factory.  Regardless - I've been looking for the same issue elsewhere.

And to reference the Harbor Freight suggestion - the trays are functional, but the closures on every one I've ever bought are a pain in the butt.  For less than $1 difference, I don't want to have to fight with a tray full of terminal tackle on the water.

fishing user avatarCTBassin860 reply :

Some Wal-Mart's carry them some don't.

fishing user avatarTin Man reply :

Talking about the large waterproof trays with the rubber seals. Still unavailable. On a tiny smartphone with fat fingers multiple posts common with this thing. Hate it

fishing user avatarBrayberry reply :

No reason to pay $12 at BPS when Walmart has them for 1/2 that.  Besides BPS will price match if you show them.  I do it all the time

When your tired of braking boxes all the time these dont seem so expensive.  I fish with kids and seems i had to add one or two plano boxes to my order every time.  That gets expensive and kids will be kids.

This is the best solution. I do this all the time for items not available in my Walmart. They notify you by email when the item is ready to be picked up.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

DO NOT purchase Plano boxes just as you need them.   This will guarantee that you will pay a premium price.   Every so often, at BPS, Cabelas, Walmart & elsewhere, Plano boxes go on sale.  Buy them then.   Have a few extras around all the time.  Don't be afraid of the smaller 3600 sizes.    They make good "kit" boxes - enough for a tournament day.  I carry quite a few of the half size plastic boxes in my boat, because I like the variety it offers me.

For instance - a 5/16 Eakins jig kit - 9/16 Eakins jig kit - 3/4 oz football head kit - Wobble head kit - Brewer Slider head kit and so forth.

I can't remember the last time I paid full retail for a Plano box.  Generally keep a dozen or so of the  full size & half size boxes around.

fishing user avatarTin Man reply :

Walmart doesn't seem to carry them anymore. Havent for over a year now. I've looked from Tennessee to Michigan. They carry the 37 series but they are not the waterproof rubber sealed ones I am looking for. No Flambeau or Plano models available. My Lowe 175 has two built in tray lockers specifically made for the 37 series. The water proof models are extremely durable. Much more so than the regular 37 series which I see everywhere. I have looked at the Bass Mafia models but they are too wide and do not fit in my lockers. I was able to find enough trays to outfit my boat but at a 100 % markup from last year. I know supplement my tackle trays with additional bags if needed. It would be good to find 3 to 6 more but I can run with what I have now. This is what I'm talking about. This is a Flambeau the Plano version is just like it only red. Can no longer find these in 37 series. Thanks

I'd pay $6 to stay out of WalMart if I could. I think they're the antiChrist. I have a theory that one day all trade will take place inside mega WalMarts and you'll need their mark (stupid smiley face) to buy or sell.

Or not...just a theory.

It's OK though because, as I said above, WM's the debbil.

here found it for you its $9.96

fishing user avatarTin Man reply :

Reason. I'm sure you did. The point is that you did not buy the tray I am talking about. The 37 series is much larger than the tray you bought. You should read the posts before you reply. As far as shopping at Walmart, waste your money where you want to. The point is the the larger 37 series trays are no longer available not at Walmart, BPS, Gander Mountain, or Cabelas. and when you do run up on them they are twice as much as they were last year. Get it now ?

fishing user avatarScarborough817 reply :

do you complain when the price of bread goes up too?

fishing user avatarScarborough817 reply :

you're right that was stupid of me but you cant be surprised when the price goes up esspecially since you likely bought it on clearance the product isn't available anymore and no one sells them anywhere near that price so that should tell you something
