I was wondering if anyone had advice for what baits seem to work the best in the fall. I am mostly fishing natural lakes in the Northwest and we don't have shad in our lakes. Water temp out here is around 60 right now. Water clarity is still good 6-10ft. We have both largemouth and smallmouth. I havent spent a ton of time fishing in the fall so any pointers would help.
Jerkbaits
Spinnerbaits
Squarebills
Lipless cranks
Topwaters can be deadly at the right times

Jig and pig or trailer in shallow cover like downed trees or docks. All day every day!!!
Black/Blue jig with a green pumpkin zoom super chunk.... Turning into my favorite and go to lure..
Ill add the YUM Money Minnow. The dying minnow twitch presentation. The colder the better, snowing is a plus.
I like fishing lipless cranks, jerkbaits and flat sided balsa crankbaits. I'm sure there are lots of other good fall baits but these are the ones I enjoy fishing.
Many of the same already mentioned as well as the Super Spook Jr. (Bone White for the win)
Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and the long forgotten curly tail grub.
Swim jigs
Jig craw trailer
Senkos
Squarebill
living in San Diego , i fish resevoirs that get a fall trout stock , so big trout imitating swimbait time
War Eagle spinnerbait,Swimjigs with a swim bait trailer Rage Craws on the bottom.
I would be throwing square bills until I found some that were concentrated then maybe something like a senko or fluke?
Spinnerbait
Over the past few years I have noticed that I get better bites on bigger baits this time of year. I usually start off with a 3/4 ounce rat-l-trap, or a big jig and pig.
Poppers, toads, swim jigs, 6" worms, spinnerbaits and square bills.
Time of day, Water color, wind and structure will determine what I will start with and switch to.
Bass are chasing shad and fattening up for winter...I like 1.5/2.5 size squarebills fished shallow! I imagine swimbaits would work great as well.
bladed swim jigs and cranks as well as topwater in the morning
Rage Tail Menace

Me too.. It's a great crank and locator, rat l trap Nova's are my favorites. I like to use a 1.5 square bill in rocky area's too.
Well...there you have it!
If its in your tackle box, it is someone's favorite fall bait. Not much missing from the above posts.
Bluegill swim jig with a rage tail menace trailer has been killing them up here lately
Jerkbait, topwater and glide baits.
A crankbait such as a Fire Tiger Bomber Model A and a texas rigged worm have been a good one two combo for me for many years .

This is true. I crushed some fish today on 6" hudds. I also did really well on the biggest big hammers not the sledgehammers.
I like throwing bigger stuff, too. I did pretty well throwing a Bill Norman Big N in "Bull Bream" color last weekend. Those are some chunky baits that are inexpensive and work very well.

Fall time to me is underspin (fish head spin for some of you) time. I prefer the Road Runner Caseys classic heads, and pair them with a 3.8 inch to a 4.3 inch keitech. slow roll it on the bottom or swim and pop it past cover and you'll get bit.

This plus hollow belly swimbaits seem to kill it it this time of year as well.
Zoom Flukes or Sluggo on a Scrounger. Deadly
same baits I use the rest of the year just different locations!
