Anyone here ever order from them? If so, about how long are their shipping times.
Japan to US.

A little while ago(when the Hedgehog spool pin remover was brand new) I ordered a reel and the Hedghog tool from Japan Tackle. I ordered some terminal tackle from Cabelas the same day.The order from Japan beat the Cabelas order by three days.
EMS delivery is usually 3-5 days.
You never know with international delivery.
I have had shipments coming from Asia (Japan,China,Philippines,Indonesia) 2 times a month for the last 7 years, sometimes it's fast and sometimes it's not. Most packages arrive in about 2 weeks, I've gotten them as fast as 6 days and as slow as 4 weeks. Whether it's EMS, CP, or RR delivery a package can get held up at the local post office in their sorting facility. Once it clears the sorting facility the package goes into US customs which also can take some time. Once it goes thru customs the package then is at a US post office sorting facility, again the package can sit there too. At that point USPS delivers the package. I experience the same procedure for my European packages. I have had well over 100 shipments and they can arrive pretty fast, or it can be pretty slow too especially when getting close to the holidays.
I recently ordered a spool from them. If I recall correctly, it took under a week.
The problem is not how much time Jun takes to process your order, you order today and he ships tomorrow ( unless it´s a holiday and he always notifies when it´s a holiday or if he´s going to be out for vacation and so ) the time it takes for your order to arrive is variable and it´s not his problem, most shipments will take around two weeks. If you are in a hurry you can have him ship by UPS or FedEx but that´s a lot more expensive than EMS.
I have to say one thing about Japantackle, normally he is the most expensive but also, normally he has items nobody else has. Another good source for JDM reels is JapanProFishing, Ichibantackle has some good things too.

Thanks Raul, I checked JapanProFishing per your suggestion. They didn't have the Scorpion 200. I ordered from JapanTackle.
They had it on sale for $169.00. Now, just have to wait for it to arrive. Thanks guys for all the info. Now I won't have to panic if it doesn't show up in just a week. Yet I can still hope it does. But why should I be in any hurry. Can't go fishing till Spring anyhow....lol.
Hootie
Sent you a pm.
Of course that Mexico´s Post office and customs is not like USPS, I have waited a month a half for my things to arrive.
Another good source for tackle is Plat.jp, I´ve purchased a couple of reels and several 2 piece rods with them, excellent service too.
Just one clarification when ordering stuff now, Japan is not like US where you have gear available all year long, in Japan manufacturers cease production for the winter months so a lot of products are not available until they restart production in the spring. Once I ordered a couple of rods the first week of November and waited until late March. I do have to say that the wait was worth every second.
Just got a package from Japan Tackle today, it took 5 days. I've ordered from him twice and both times it took less than a week. I picked up a Yumeya BFS spool for my Curado 51E and two different types of Shimano grease. Now I just need to order a BFS rod, hopefully soon.
They are good, usually takes 5 business days for them to get the product to you.
Anyone order from jpangler before, they have some good prices just want to make sure it's legit before I pull the trigger
I always use the registered shipping and it takes about two weeks. They ship within a day of placing the order unless it's a holiday, and you have to consider their holidays there also. My packages almost always arrive at LAX in about 2-3 days, then sit in customs there for almost a week.
Saw you ordered the scorpion in the other thread. Congrats!
They shipped fast like 5 days or so. But they require signature so if your not home you may have to go to usps to pick it up with the tag they leave on your door.
Hootie, You should have no problems with Japan Tackle and you will have to sign for it.
I just bought the same spool for my XT1000 and it's going on a Loomis CR721.On 11/13/2014 at 7:20 AM, War Eagle 44 said:Just got a package from Japan Tackle today, it took 5 days. Thanks John, yes that's what all the guys are saying. Won't be a problem, since this time of year I'm always home. To cold to fish, but you can bet that when I get that reel, I will fish somewhere.

Does anyone know what city Japan tackle is located in?
Hootie
Yokohama. Japan has Prefectures. I believe a Percecture is a district that is within a City. If you go to the Japan EMS Site and enter your Tracking #, it will tell you the Perfecture that it was shipped from.On 11/13/2014 at 7:43 PM, *Hootie said:Does anyone know what city Japan tackle is located in?

Japan's prefectures are more like our states. A long time ago, I lived for over a year in Yamaguchi prefecture.
Jun is great to do business with, so no worries there....Just for the record I would also throw Japan Angler into the mix...http://jpangler.com/index.php/
This thread is quickly becoming the Yellow Pages of where to spend your money in cool JDM stuff. So far how many "new" ( or well not new to some of us ) JDM retailers have appeared ? 4 ? well, I also have e-bay dealers.
Right now I´m flat broke, I need to save cuz I "need" a few of those SV spools for my TDZs.
Another good source.

I considered that rod but I just keep coming back to the Expride 6'5" BFS rod. They make a one piece and a two piece, I'm only interested in the one piece. All the places I've looked are backordered for the one piece. I'll just keep looking.
I have looked at Shimano Japan's website and I noticed that they do have some BFS rods. Are they available here or are you buying from overseas? On 11/14/2014 at 7:02 AM, War Eagle 44 said:I considered that rod but I just keep coming back to the Expride 6'5" BFS rod. Ive bought most of my jdm stuff there..never been ripped off and always get a deal.
Wow...I didn't know reels were tuned like cars hehe. Thanks for sharing the site. BTW, prefectures came from the old fief system from feudal japan, The old provinces ruled by the daimyos basically became the prefectures of today.
My Scorpion had landed in Chicago. It's now in customs. C'mon, C'mon.

Chicago is 295 miles from Cincinnati.

4 1/2 hrs.to Chicago. The farthest I've driven to pick up fishing gear is Evansville Indiana. 3 1/2 hrs., my driveway to their parking lot. American Legacy.

Nice reel selection hootie
All the good jdm retailers have been mentioned, add hedgehog for tuning parts, cant go wrong with any of these places. The yen is dropping and some of these reels can be had at an awesome price
I was telling my fishing buddy the other day, with all the money ive spent over the past few years buying and selling jdm reels, i could of just bought the d**n plane ticket to japan. Bring an empty suitcase and go wild at each tackle shop, lol.

I just remembered that old show "Supermarket Sweep" where you raced someone to try & spend as much money as possible in a set amount of time in a shopping market... I bet that show would KILL if it was revamped as a fishing show. Too bad NOBODY could afford to send me thorough that place haha... One trip down the GanCraft or Megabass aisle and studio execs would have repo trucks showing up to take their cars before the episode was done being filmed.

Right?? Can't forget Kobe beef either- and don't even get me started on JDM cars!! Also as a skier I would pretty much give anything to ski chest-deep Hokkaido powder.
That's it. My path has become clear. I'm calling the gf and telling her to start learning Japanese.
Haha, dont get me started on cars... Cars and motorcycles were the last expensive hobbies that plagued me before fishing, lol.
One day ill ship an original crx siR over here....
Haha I think many of us gear enthusiast who are in our 20's to 30's was once a car enthusiast too. In 1998 I swapped a B16 SIR motor into my rust bucket CRX. Man that thing could fly, or at least it was fast to me lol. Everyone wanted to race me until I sprayed 75 shot. Then I blew the motor lol. When I first got into serious bass fishing and I started hearing all this JDM talk I was like wow even in fishing?
Anyways back on topic, MOST of the time getting parts from Japan through their EMS shipping is faster than most US shops unless something odd happens at customs. I wouldn't hesitate ordering from a reputable japan shop.

I remember that show. You had to stop by the ham and diapers to even think you'd have a chance to win on that show!

Jeff, it took one day to get from Tokyo to Chicago. 6,562 miles.
From Chicago to Cincinnati is 295 miles. This is the third day I have been waiting for it to arrive from Chicago.
When I contacted the Post Office, they said the guy carrying the package was walking as fast as he could.
Like Raul said, I could have went to Chicago and picked it up myself, and been home by now.
Oh well, the wait continues.
