Good memories lure 2025

fishing user avatarFat-G reply :

I was wondering if you have a lure that sparks a good memory of a good trip, nice fish, or you just plain like the look of it. Even if you've never thrown it in your life.

Mine would have to be a Texas-Rigged Lizard. I have caught some nice fish on them, and caught my first "well earned" big fish on one.

Next would have to be a white spinnerbait. That used to be the lure I had the most confidence in, until I bought a jig   :)

fishing user avatarMattinOK reply :

I guess mine would be one of those generic 1$ Wal Mart spinnerbaits. I caught my first bass out of a farm pond with one of those things. I've now moved on to War Eagles, but those lil' ole' spinners will always have a place in my heart.

fishing user avatarBrendan Duffy reply :

Idk if anyone has heard of em but these little jigging spoons  called swedish pimples are awesome for LMB.

fishing user avatarchubaka reply :

Mines would be a wacky rig senko. Caught my first LMB on it.

fishing user avatarSam reply :

1.  Senkos

2.  KVD Sexy Shad crankbait

3.  Drop Shot Rig

Want to go to the double secret pond this coming spring??????  Get permission from your parents and be sure to tell them that I am not the local "ax killer" in the area.  ;D   ;D   ;D

Will contact your dad again about going out on the upper James.  :)

fishing user avatarGRiver reply :

A old  jointed Rapla, J-5  sliver w/black back, caught my first smallmouth. I have went swimming, a few times, to get this lure back. I hung it up with my collection and bought another one. Just doesn't seem to catch as many fish, I know it is all in my head, but still....

Every lure I own fits this category or I wouldn't own it :)

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

That would be Berkley 4" original power bait. Landed my first bass.

fishing user avatar-nick- reply :

I'm going to have to say the rapala shad rap 5 in shad color. Me and my friend would call it ol faithful because it would always produce fish and then I caught my first big bass on it that was probably around 5 lbs but it was the biggest me or any of my friends had caught at the time.

fishing user avatarThe Rooster reply :

First bass caught on a lure, I was using a 1/4 oz. chartreuse Strike King spinnnerbait, the one they called the Spindance (Bill Dance endorsed it, circa mid 90's). Caught many bass on it that first season and it seemed whenever I went out I always had one tied on.

Other lures I use with "extra confidence" would be a texas rigged 7" Berkley Power Worm, black color with 3/16 or 1/4 oz. bullet weight. Cannot count the numbers of fish caught on this. Keeper bass love it.

Then virtually any color of Bandit 100 or 200 series crankbaits, but especially the 100 in the color they call "Taco Salad". That little bait showing in my avatar is the one, caught my largest bass to date on it, as well as many others, several of which are nice quality keepers. Cannot say enough about this little lure. Now that it puts fish in the boat I seem to throw it more often than the others, but that may be partially why it seems to catch so many more as well. All I know is when I use it I catch the fish.

Rapala X-raps are starting to building quite a reputation with me as well. I think the company could make this bait ONLY and would still make millions on it, it's that good.

And lastly, cannot forget the almighty Worden's Roostertail, especially the black/chartreuse color. Lots of people overlook these as being only panfish or trout lures, but I catch lots of quality bass on them year round. Sure they drag in the dinks as well, but equally as often they land keeper bass too. Have done so many times.

Those are a few, I'm sure I'll think of more later. 8-)

fishing user avatarBoogey Man reply :

I have an old Big O crankbait that my grandmother gave me, it belonged to my grandfather, who died when I was 6. The first time I used it I was in the back of the 2nd boat going up this little creek, so I was the 4th guy back, so to speak. I was catching fish on this crankbait one after the other and the guys in front of me weren't catching anything. The same thing happened a couple of other trips. I don't use it anymore because I fish where there are a lot of muskies. It's now in a display case.

fishing user avatarHuntFishAK reply :

Mine would be a little yellow grub.  Whenever we could visit family in Missouri, first thing I wanted to do was go to Wal-Mart and get a pack of these to go fish my grandma's farm ponds.  It was a big deal the summer that I got to go the "big pond" at the back of the farm.  I'm sure it wasn't more that a quarter mile, but when you're a kid, it may as well have been on the other side of the county.  We caught everything on those grubs, but the memory that sticks out the most was my first big fish.  It was a 3 lb largemouth.  I was so excited that I ran back to the house to show it off.  Used a bathroom scale to weigh it.  Then ran back and released it.  I know it lived, because I caught it the next day.  Had a little hole right where I had hooked it previously.  Man those were the days.  The farm has since been sold and grandma has passed on.  I hope the next time I get back to Missouri, the new owners will let me and my daughter fish those ponds.

how do you work these for bass?

fishing user avatarHook Set reply :

Flat fish, orange with black spots.

First memory I have of a fishing lure. It was in my dad's taclke box, never forget it!

fishing user avatarCRFisher reply :

Flat fish for me as well, first lure (along with some Mepps spinners) I used as a kid.  My dad wasn't too thrilled with how I spent my allowance money but the 20" pike on my 2nd or 3rd cast gave me the last laugh.   I was 7 or 8 and it was the first non panfish I caught besides some sub 10" bass on worm and bobber.

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Strike King 100 series crank bait.........Ghost.

fishing user avatarbroncoboxer reply :

fishing user avatarGangley reply :

I have two that I will never forget

1. Zoom Horny Toad: Its the lure that got me hooked into fishing again, more specifically it got me into bass fishing. I've caught my personal best, along with all of my "close-to" personal best with this lure. I flat out love it.

2. Rebel Minnow in the F4901 (Smallest Available): It doesn't produce big fish, but it sure enough produces a lot of fish. It's what i go to when I am just wanting to have fun. When my son gets old enough to keep from hooking himself with treble hooks, that will be the lure I put on his fishing pole. It's just old reliable, and makes fishing fun.

fishing user avatarBassDeaton01 reply :

I am a sucker for a shaky head watermelon seed zoom worm. It always seems even if the bite is tough the bass can't resist this bait. I've caught a large number of my bass with this bait.

fishing user avatarI.rar reply :

floating rapalas , F5 and F7 in gold or silver with the black back. they are small but they have landed me plenty of fish including a 4-5lb carp on my UL rig.

fishing user avatarDock Master reply :

Mine would have to be a Lucky Craft G-Splash popper.  Only have had it about 5 months but it has already caught me a PB.

fishing user avatarguitarkid reply :

a diawa peanut I caught my first crankbait fish on. I retired it after many fish were caught on that lure, that and the back hook broke.

fishing user avatarUncle Leo reply :

fishing user avatarzero reply :

fishing user avatarWoolleyBass reply :
