I was upset after I lost a lucky craft lipless crank to a snag. I thought for sure, oh well, there goes $15.00. A week later, was using a crankbait and dredged up the same lure I lost. I didn't catch any bass that day but it made my day to retrieve the lure (Early Xmas Present)
Ever catch a lure you lost?
Merry Christmas all!
Buddy if mine has done it twice this year alone. One was a lipless. Had his red upgraded hooks on it. The other was a few weeks ago and that was an A Rig. The A rig blew my mind... 25 FOW and somehow dragged right into it!
Twice actually. One my knot broke off a floating squarebill so the current brought it back to where I was fishing. Another time I lost a squarebill for 2 weeks, came back and found it wedged between some rocks.
Once - a lipless crank in a cove that I fish quite often. About 6 months later, I cast out another lipless crank in that cove and snagged the lost one. An Academy H2O bait in a craw pattern - I have no doubt it was mine.
Cleaned the slime off the bait, changed the hooks, good to go...
Heddon baby torpedo broke off in a pigs mouth.. couple casts later caught the pig with my torpedo.
^^That's a good story
I have snagged multiple lures that weren't mine, purposely, and a couple topwaters that broke off. I haven't caught one from the bottom though.
I don't know if this counts but I bought some Megabass 110's this year for the fall fishing in the Ozarks and I just switched to a different color and the first cast it hangs up off a point. I didn't want to run up on the point before fishing it with a jig and as the boat drifted and line got slack. After a few min I thought the line was laying next to the boat so I hit the trolling motor and it wrapped up my line. All was not lost yet until the wind pushed me away from the bait and I couldn't get the line out and it finally snapped. We tried for 15-20 min trying to get that line snagged and no luck. I guess with Fluorocarbon it sinks so it would be harder to find. We gave up and when to eat and fish a few other spots. I came back to fish the point again and tried for awhile again with no luck. I was ready to give up, probably my last cast and I felt the line get heavy and here comes my brand new 110. I learned my lesson on that one and have since invested in a plug knocker to increase the chance of getting it out.
I felt like and idiot and then elated that I got it back.
Slack line getting caught the trolling motor huh??? Been there, done that....
Caught a 10xd that I lost once...
Also I caught a spro once too that I had lost.
Lost a t rigged yum black red flake lizard with 5ish yards of line on a nasty backlash then bout 2 months later caught the line n reeled it back in. Knew it was mine soon as I saw it I sometimes bite the heads off when the get a lil torn.

The lipless looked something like this
Didn't take a picture of the A rig, but the odds of catching it off the log in 25' on my jigging spoon have to be pretty thin I'd think.
Nice!!
Not before I bought a a kayak, no. Since then I've caught two topwater Rapalas that got away from me.
Got back a crankbait I lost in a pond by snagging it in the split ring and I lost a jig once in a brush pile and caught the line attached to it and got it back with the next cast lol
I had a Spoi BBZ floater that I snagged and lost float across the pond back to me.
Yes, and the line was still on it, too.
Fishing in a client's pond when my spinnerbait got tangled in the areator's piping underwater.
Had to cut the line.
Two months later I snagged the spinnerbait.
It was dirty but otherwise in good shape.
Still have it today.
Story # 2
Fishing at my Double Secret Pond in April OF 2012 I hooked a beautiful lady on a Bandit 100 and played "Ike" with her when bam, the line snapped.
In September of that year I see something along the bank that looks different and walk over to it and it is the crankbait I lost to the lady.
Hooks are still on it but one side is white, the other blue.
Still use that crankbait today.
Story #3
Fishing the Louisiana marsh for redfish I had one pop the line and take off with the bait, hook and bobber.
A few minutes later I caught a very nice redfish with the hook and bobber in its mouth that I had lost.
Retrieved quite a few, lost and recovered 2 huddleston's (one was a week later). Recovered a couple A-rigs.(nice to have two rods when something happens where you can throw right back). recoved one rod with the fish that pulled it in still attached shore fishing with my son. and have come up with quite a few found lures that I've recoved that found their way to the bank or happened to be tangled in ducks with line hanging off of them. And had a fish take one of my roostertail's when I was 16 and came back 3 days later and caught it on another roostertail and got both back.
No, but I did find one of my lures in the throat of a dead pike that bit said lure off a week earlier. And once my rain coat blew off the back deck of the boat while I was on the outboard, wnybassman and I found it a week later floating about 1/2 mile away from where I lost it.
i have actually caught a live target swimbait while fishing with a crankbait, it certainly mad my day!
Got back my seibert jig a couple months ago that I lost after ice out. Still in good shape...may still be able to salvage the hook but it had some rust.
I have done it a few times with floating crankbaits while fishing from the bank. I think the line gets under something that the bait won't fit through. When you break the line the bait floats up to the surface.
I've broken off on fish before to catch them the same day or later on and they'll still have my rage craw in their mouth. Bait is useless but I get the hook back. I use tungsten so I'd be a lot happier if I got the weight back instead though.
Not my lure, but yesterday went out with a friend and caught his crankbait he lost 2 weeks ago... Only thing I caught.
Not , But A guy I fish with carries a cross cut saw in his boat. If he gets snagged up high he wins twice. Gets a new laydown to fish and gets his lure back.
I Could see this going bad if you were on the wrong property.
Caught plenty. Couple years back my friend flipped his 10 foot Jon loaded with 6 people (very stupid) and last year I was able to snag up one of his combos a cheap bps spinning rod and a shimano sedona. The Sedona still works.
Saw a facebook post a few days ago of a guy who found his Roman Made Mother a week after he casted it off If it was me I would have been searching for it for that whole week.
I snagged a BPS spinnerbait last fall that I had lost about ten years earlier...it is one of the models with the hard plastic sheaths on the arm of the bait.
It is rusted all to heck, but I think I may try and give it some TLC.

she left me and married you.
LAst spring I went to Guntersville for a long weekend of kayak fishing. THe first night there after too many adult beverages I picked up a rod and start throwing a Spro bbz1 and quickly lost it. At the end of the next day I was fishing the riprap in front of our campsite and snagged a line with a lipless crankbait. I pulled and pulled only to find my bbz1 hooked to a small log. I caught a couple of nice fish that day and got a decent lure back. All in all it was a good day.
Years ago, in my Sportspal canoe, I caught my own lure, lost about 2 hours before in the Mohawk River. It was a Big O.
