Bitsy Jigs= Big Bass 2025

I know big bass are smart enough to realize that a big meal that is easy to achieve is a better option than chasing around a ball of minnows. I have recently acquired a couple of strike king bitsy bug jigs. Do y'all think that this presentation will attract bigger bass like a normal jig or will the small bass beat them to it.

i thin big bass eat little baits but like has been stated, only if it is right in front of them. Big bass don't seem to want to move as much as the little guys but if an easy meal is right in front of them they will bite.

They'll eat it for sure... caught a lot of slobs on bitsy bugs 
just be careful during the fight not to put too much pressure on the small hook!

I have a bunch of them I bought off the forums a few months ago. I have had decent luck. Nothing over 3 pounds. With the small hook, your kinda limited on trailers that wont take up all the hook. I use the Rage Chunks with mine

Rage Chunks are great for them and the Baby Rage will down size it even more plus add to the fall rate...

I have caught decent fish on the bleeding shad but I would always rather throw larger baits. I have caught so many 1-3lb fish this season and now I am really after the big girls. I would rather fewer bites with bigger fish.
Bass might prefer to pick off the weaker fish in a school but smaller doesnt always equal weaker or slower. I would think a large, easy meal would be very tempting for a lazy slob

Stan Sloans Booza bug with the wire weed guard was the forerunner of the Bitz bug that Bill Dance popularized. The Booza bug is a far better jig, stronger sharper hook and better weed guard.
Another excellent finesse jig is Skinny Bears original jig or signature pro series with living rubber and premium hook, a popular jig out west. Some giant bass have been caught on Skinny Bears with #101 spin frog trailers.

Big bass will nail them, my friend catches 4 - 6 pounders all the time on them. I am a big fan of the Baby Boo Jig. The best trailers for the bitsies are baby rage craws, zoom creepy crawlers, and tiny paca chunks.

Me too. Used to use the 5/16 oz size; but the 3/16 oz has been working better lately. Must be something to do with the fall rate.

I use the 5/16 generally. The slower the fall the better unless you are fishing really deep water or windy conditions.

I've caught a lot of nice fish on the Bitsy jigs, mainly the Bitsy flipping jig because it has a little heavier hook and weedguard so I can fish it in heavier cover and handle bigger fish.

I use 1/8 oz jigs with a trailer and get a lot of big bass over 4 lbs. Food is food they'll eat it for sure.

I really like the bitsy flips and baby boo jigs. Like Big O said, pair em with a baby rage craw. I like to use them on top of grass, they don't burry up as much as bigger jigs.

The bitsy flip with a zoom super chunk jr has fooled many 5+lb bass around here for me.

You have to be careful with the smaller sized hooks like Big-O said. Depending on where the fish is hooked you may not get a very good hookset.

Last year fishing a farm pond with a 1/32 oz jig head with a small spinner (beetle spin size) with a small twister tail grub on it I had a huge hit and set the hook. But it just came right out after the hook bent and straighted out. Re-bent my hook, cast in the same spot, another huge hit but ended up getting him in. 5 1/2 lbs. The fish was so big and the hook so small that I think the first hit got him in the lip which is all bone.
Yes you can catch very large bass on very small baits. You just have to put it in their face.

I think Bitsy Bugs are fantastic and have had great days with them. They catch numbers and size.I usually pair them with half a stick worm like a Tiki Stick or a crayfish like a Baby Guido Bug . I love them in streams.
This smallie has a bitsy Bug in its jaw.

Yes, try the Bitsy flip. Same as the mini jig, just a heavier hook. And like others have , Rage Chunk, deadly combo.

I like baby rage craws on the bitsy bug. I like baby rage craws on nearly every other kind of jig too though.
I lost my last bitsy bug jig at Melvern and will have to pick up some more! Had a nice strike from a smallie, set the hook, felt the jaw and when I went to lift him off the bottom I got zebra musseled.
My favorites are the 3/16oz. Green and Cajun Craw colors paired with a Bama Craw color Baby Rage Craw trailer. I like this color trailer a lot. With the bright belly you can rig it upside down to fish on the bottom in dark water. I also feel confident swimming this combination.
If I am throwing black and blue I will usually switch to a 3/8oz. jig.
I have always been told that big hooks catch big fish but small hooks catch small & big fish. Nothing wrong with small baits in my opinion so long as you aren't straightening hooks out in fish.

Had a blast this year fishing a 1/16 bitsy on an NRX 852s with nanofil. Caught some nice ones.

No, no, finesse jigs don't catch big fish, and have flimsy unsuitable hooks. Everybody knows that.

I use the bitsy jig also. Had a lot of luck, but nothing over 5 lbs. A couple of 3 lbers but that is it.

Big fish, is a relative term. If you are fishing in a lake where bass are mostly 12" to 14"(my lake), and then you catch a 4# bass.......well. I guess I am one who don't know that finesse jigs don't catch big bass. Four pounds is big to me.
