I gonna try to punch some matts in a couple weeks and was wondering what your favorite baits?
Missile Baits d bomb.
For me it's the RI Sweeet Beaver.
It has the perfect size, and action for punching.

For me it depends on how thick the stuff is I'm punching through. The thicker the slop then the more compact the plastic bait.

This.
At the risk of making them even harder (for me) to find- I have had great success this year with the big bites yodaddy.
The pit boss seems to have alot of support here.
Tubes are great.
The mats you'll be punching are pretty thick. Think slim and compact- tubes, bb crickets, senkos- etc. I'd start there and then increase the profile (or not) as the fish deem necessary.
Good luck!
No love for the devil spear?
I use Ragetail smoking rooster, Ragetail Craws, D&M Punchcraw or Flipping craw for super thick stuff and Berkley pitt boss for moderate mats to punch through.
Not much punching to be had around here. But for flipping, I use mostly the Ugly Otter. But, honorable mention also goes to the Sweet Beaver, Brush Hog, Rage Craw, Zoom Super Speed Craw, and Smokin Rooster.
I forget to mention the Senko which is probably one of the best for heavy punching as it gets through anything and the Swim senko is another great option....We usually punch or flip with the 6" size in black and blue, or 5" Red Shad swim Senko.....Gives em a new look as well and alot of people in Florida also like to punch a fat max culprit as the tail is compact...
