Keitech Swimbaits 2025

So, I recently purchased these puppies and boy do they have some of the best action from any swimbait I've ever used.
Now, would a MF be good enough with 10# mono? If not, what about a MH with 30# braid to 12# flouro?
Just trying to max out the potential here!

I would go with braid and a leader given you know a good splice knot, perhaps the FG. You'll have more sensitivity and will be better off if you end up hitting cover.

Well........what size baits are you using? How much weight are you using? Jighead or swimbait hook? Are you having trouble with what you're using now or do you just like asking questions?

Its the 4.8" Keitech.
I still haven't decided on what weight to use. Is it better to use a rage rig style hook with the weight or a jig?

Depends on the situation that you will be fishing. Shallow cover? You'll go with a weighted hook like the Owner beast hook in 1/8oz 4-5/0. If you're fishing them deeper with no cover you will be best suited with a weighted jig head. Buckeyes jig heads are great, and they have the option to go with a lighter hook.

You can fish them either way. I prefer to use a jighead with the bigger Keitechs but cover definitely dictates that. I don't know what kind of rod you're using but I generally use a 7'3" MHF for fishing the larger Keitechs.

I am on the Keitech pro staff and I would love to help you out.
You said Keitech swimbaits but were not specific as to which model and sizes. This makes a difference. I own all keitech models in most sizes so am pretty sure I can help ya out.
Your question is hard to answer due to it's vaguenes. I use everything from lite fast action spinning rods to heavy action casting rods for throwing Keitech swimbaits. There are many variables. Please clarify so I can send you the best possible information.

I like using VMC swimbait jig heads for the keitech swing impact. I like these jigheads because they'll hold the swimbait well. The swing impacts are amazing for smallmouth, but they get torn up easy. A bit of super glue on the jighead will go a long way.
I use a 7'2" medium light with 10 pound braid and a 6 pound flouro leader.

12lb test will work, but I prefer at least 14lb to ensure a good hook set. I'll fish them around wood and rocks and I need more piece of mind for that as well.

Can't say much about that larger size but I have no trouble hooking up with medium spinning rod and 10# braid when throwing a SI Fat 3.8" weightless.
I rig it on what I think is a 1/0 EWG hook and Paycheck Baits Headcase.
Of course when I add weight I will take that opportunity to throw it on heavier gear.

I Like those swimbaits,
I picked one up off the ground one day, the nose was all torn up. I pinched off the spot that was torn, threw it on a 1/8oz weighted 3/0 EWG hook, slow reelin and BAM.
Dink ate it.
Not bad. Still gotta buy a pack though lol.

I've been using the 3.8 fat impacts on a screw lock weighted 3/0 hook on medium casting gear with 14 lb copolymer. I believe the weight is a 1/8and a 3/16 weight.

I have thought about trying those, talked to a couple of guys that have used them. But they say they do not last very long with bass ?
Just try to decide if i should spend the money on them, just for them to last just 1 to 2 fish.
What is every ones thoughts?

Buy a bottle of MEND-IT for all your soft plastics, can fix baits over and over many times with the stuff.

I fish the 3.8s on an Owner or Moaner weighted swimbait 4/0 hook, either 1/8 or 1/4oz. The hook is a tiny bit big for the 3.8 but I don't miss fish with it. 
The 4.3's I step up to a Gammy 5/0 1/8oz. weightes swimbait hook. I fish both on a 6'-6" MH Diawa Aird rod with a Lew's Speed Spool and 14lb. Trilene XT. Sometime I'll fish the 3.8's on a 7' M action rod w/ 12lb. XT if the cover is sparse.

They are soft, but I've had few problems using either a drop of super glue or a keeper to hold them on spinnerbaits and swim jigs. I use mostly the fat impacts in the 4.8" size as a swim jig or large spinnerbait trailer.

Yes they catch fish but you will pay cause they are soft esp the tail section
Panfish have taken off those tails easily and short biting bass dinks as well
Keitechs made a great bait and ensured themselves lots of $$$ too cause you will buy pack after pack and need to

I use a 3/0 twistlock Gama or Owner 1/4oz hook for the 3.8. It had a keel weight on the bottom of the hook so the bait rolls and it looks so nice minnows and sunfish chase it. Very weedless!!! I used a 5/0 weighted twist lock for the 4.8 inchers. Best colors are male perch and bluegill flash. I went through so many keitechs before I switched to twist lock with a tiny dab of super glue and the lure wont tear untill a pike bites the paddle tail off : )
I use 30lb suffix 826 or 15lb power pro super slick Braid and have had no issues. Good Luck!!! Ive never used these lures since this year and so far they are worth it.

I had about a 1.5lb bass hit one of the 3.8s, took the tail off and came right back and hit what was left before it got away from him!
