fishing user avatarAluma-Bass reply :

Not talking hollow body, but soft plastic type frogs like ribbits, cane toad, horny toad,etc...which is your fav? I have had decent luck with the ribbits but i haven't tried many others.

X2 on the Rage Tail Toad!

fishing user avatarWookieeJedi reply :

I haven't tried the RT frogs yet, but I am very pleased with the YUM turbo frogs. They are really durable too.

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

I just purchased another larger frog from www.bogbaits.com to try with his scent.

I purchased every frog made to test them to see which one works better. I also have the rebel frog R on order too. I'm going to stay away from my normal crankbaits when its slow and try the frogs and more plastics this year.

My favorites are the Stanley Ribbits. They have a great sound, cast a mile and are very durable. I will use the rage toad on occasion, but the ribbit is less expensive and more effective for me. The rage toad can be too loud sometimes.

When I want to fish a soft plastic frog sub-surface I will use the Horny Toad by Zoom - they have a great gliding action that looks just like a diving frog. One of my favorite techniques is to buzz a zoom toad up to some pads and then let it sink on slack line. It will glide under the pad and bass will nail it.

X2...Have not used the rage toads but the ribbits are great.

This year I've been having success using Rage Toads (Okeechobee Craw) and when I want to downsize a little bit, Gambler Cane Toads (Black or Green Pumpkin Pearl Swirl Red).

So what's the verdict on bog? I've been checking out their snake baits.

I like the Ribbets. Since Gander Mountain is going out of business I got 50% off on them today.

This X3.

fishing user avatarwdp reply :

My vote is Stanley Ribbit frogs. A close 2nd would be Zoom Horny Toad. Sometimes the bass want a louder & lower pitched gurgle from the Ribbit. Sometimes they want the higher pitched, more subtle gurgle of a Horny Toad.

For Ribbits, I'd highly recommend these Double Take hooks from Stanley. They work great.

The idea of cutting rage toads (or Ribbits) down to change the action seems like the best of both worlds...

I'll keep that in mind. I have 50+ short shank double hooks already tho. Been running a 200 lb SS steel line through the middle of my kicker frogs (which btw I don't think are the best)

This is by far the best buzz frog/toad out there in my opinion.

It is weighted really well, so the running upside down issues are almost non existent

I like rage toads and use rage tail shads when I want a serious disturbance but the Keitechs are my favorites

fishing user avatarSam reply :

Academy Sports H2O series.

fishing user avatartcbass reply :

I loved Ragetails but after a fish or two the hook usually doesn't skin right anymore and it becomes a pain because it isn't weedless anymore. Why I stopped using them.

If you want a disturbance like solid body frogs make try a pink buzzbait on a drop shot.

Stanly top toads or the Zman frogs.

fishing user avatarthinkingredneck reply :

I get a lot of blowups on horny toads but have trouble because I set the hook too soon, I think.  Just got some Culprit frogs on sale.  I liked the z-man frog but cannot find them.

fishing user avatarPorkrind reply :

Love the big bite bates fightin frog but I'm assuming you are asking for top water presentations.

fishing user avatarJoshua Vandamm reply :

Not just. All these frog can be weighted and swam or used as trailors.

Thanks y'all. Im leaning towards Stanley's or zman. Is the elastec too soft or does it give good water displacement

fishing user avatard-camarena reply :

the new zoom frogs look like they are worth a try

Z-man toad is my favorite.
