I predict in about a year or 2. Over the last few years Shimano has been steadily revamping its freshwater lineup. The Curado/Chronarch E body came out about a year before the Core 50/Aldebaran body. So logically the 50 size should be next.

Yumeya is releasing an aftermarket spool for the scorpion/curado I. I don't know if it will be lighter or shallower, but that could be the only option for a smaller line capac. curado. I want to see a curado 50I built on the BFS platform with the spool tension under the sideplate.

No 50 size in 2014 for the USDM. There are apparently more reels being released this year. Not sure about the JDM. This info is coming from Bantam1 on another forum.

I know Shimano isn't going to do it but, I wouldn't mind seeing a 100 series reel in the new curado lineup. Definitely excited about the possibility of a 50 though.

The 50 sized reels generally come a couple of years after the full sized models.

What options are you looking for? They come in 5.8, 7.0, and 8.0 ratios, and a bfs model.

I'm only seeing 50s available for the chronarch and core, and even then each one only comes in one gear ratio. Would be cool if there were more, but that probably dramatically increases their costs.

The JDM Aldebaran MG7 and the Aldebaran BFS and the Scorpion XT1000.
Japan Tackle has the XT1000 for $199.00. It can be found cheaper than that if you look hard enough.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it essentially the same reel as a Curado 50E. I would say it's the nicer of the two.

The core50 mg7 is a 7 to 1 ratio. Ive put the core gear sets in a couple of my curado 50e's. Its a nice $30 upgrade.

I think ultimately they'll retire the Core and just move forward with the Metanium. They'll probably bring the Aldeberan over here at ICast to complete the lineup.

I doubt it will take that long. They did a good job building up hype, but it will die down soon enough and supply will catch up. It like people sleeping outside of Apple stores to get the iPhone on release day. They'd have to have terrible supply chain issues or have severely underestimated demand for that to happen. I totally forgot about the 6.4 ratio. The JDM Aldebaran comes in 5.8 and 7.0, the Aldebaran BFS comes in 8.0 and has a slightly different design. You are only looking at the USDM market. Think globally.

I'm just talking about what is readily available to me. I can't really run to the store and pick up Japanese market reels. And I'd bet the vast majority of US buyers arent looking at Japanese reels. So yes, I am talking about US market reels.

That just means you should expand your horizons bro. I'm most cases you will save money and get the item in the same amount of time. If nothing in the USDM is meeting your needs its nice to know there are other options.
