What is your favorite brand 15 pound monofilament
BERKLEY TRILENE
BIG GAME (15) - XT (14 & 17) - SENSATION (14 & 17)
Roger
stren 14 or 17lb .
If it's got to be mono, I'll vote for stren. It always seemed to do better on spinning reels than other brands.
17 lb test trilene xl is only .015 inches . That is thin .Diameter is more important than published lb test .

I have a spinning with 10 pound mono, baitcaster with 12 pound mono. I have a Mh fast should I go with the 17 or 14? I used to have 17 pound spider wire and the line sucked. I feel like the 14 will not be enough but the 17 to much

What kind of junk are you fishing in? I use a 12# mono or co-polymer on the majority of my MH rods. Have you ever tried to break 12# mono by hand? Maybe you should consider 40# braid.
EDIT: Lots of good lines besides those already mentioned. I like Siege, AN40, Excalibur, Big Game, Super Natural to name a few. If you need tough, try some 15# CXX or Platinum. Be sure to use a line conditioner as these two will have more memory than most lines.

When I fished in saltwater off the Jersey coast (New York Bight), I found Big Game nylon line
to be head-&-shoulders above other nylon brands. Two of our heavy hitters
are long-time advocates of Trilene Big Game, namely: Catt & Raul.
Roger
Maxima Ultra Green in that # test range.

I use this rod for jigs, spinnerbaits, frogs, buzz baits, Texas rigs so this is my all purpose rod. Do you think the 14 would be good enough for fishing wood and Lilly pads
If I am fishing mono you can bet it's trilene XL

Yes.
I love Trilene XL for mono for my spinning gear. I love P-Line CX and CXX for copoly.

/ thread, nothing more to say.
Berkley Big Game
I'm looking forward to trying the new "Rippin" mono from Seaguar. I understand it has low memory, and low stretch. Sounds like a great line!
I will dfinitely be trying the new Seaguar Rippin, but right now I am fishing Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo.

If you are using it for all of these I would strongly recommend going to 40lb braid and tying a leader for certain things however if I had to only throw mono I would have to go with big game as well.
Seaguar Senshi has been good for me but I use a lot of Big Game because it's cheap, easy to find, and comes in bulk spools.
Big Game, Big Game and more Big Game. It's so cheap you can change it every few months and still cheaper and (in my opinion) stronger than the other 2 comparable brands.
Stren for freshwater,...berkley big game for salt

I have an old bulk spool of 15-lb Trilene Big Game that's roughly 40 years old!
Despite its age, it's a major chore to break that line in your bare hands (incredible stuff)

My favorite monofilament for bass fishing is Berkeley Big Game, which I mostly use from 8-20 pound test. Also use this line for multi species fishing and it had helped me land sharks that weighed several hundreds of pounds each.

I was kayak fishing this past summer and hooked a good one on a rod with BG line. The fish took some drag and went under the kayak and pinned me against a dock. The bass was jumping under the dock on the other side of my kayak and I was fighting it with the rod stuck in the water. I had to put my thumb on the spool and yank the fish back out. It was about 5.5 lbs. That's my best testimonial, but I've caught maybe 10 fish the last 4 years over 5 lbs, a few 6, on it with no break offs.

Can't beat it, especially for the price
Another vote for big game
I use the BassPro Excel line a lot because i get a huge roll of it at a really good price. i never have an issue with it breaking. PLINE is my favorite by far but twice the price
I like Sunline Natural Mono 16lb for the following reasons compared to other Mono:
Smaller Diameter
Above Average Sensitivity
Less Stretch
More Supple
Great cast distance
More Manageable
Strong Line
Inexpensive
Second on my list, Senshi 15-20:
Pros
Small Diameter
Slightly better sensitivity than Sunline
Less Stretch
Florescent Blue
Great cast distance
Cons compared to Sunline
Less Manageable
Not as Strong so I go 20lb instead of 15. But Diameter is still less or equal to most 15lb lines
More expensive
