I want to get a lews speed spool but I'm not sure what rod to get with it, are there any good baitcasting rods for around $50?
I use the BPS Graphite series rods and love them. Great rods for the price. $39 a piece.
The berkley lightning rod shocks $39 at Walmart and the halo starlight series $49 at tackle shops and some walmarts and there website. Are both great rods for the money.
All Star Classic is a good Rod for $50 at Academy, but they are on sale frequently for $30.
academy has some h20 rods on sale for 49 lately. seem like solid rods. powell diesel can sometimes b found for 50
Powell deisel is a good rod at 50

Ditto on the Berkeley Lightning Rod Shock. Light and great action for the money.
Agree with 0119, just picked one up. Designed specifically for braid, this rod is very well made and finished. Not sure about performance just yet as I just got it last week!
The Shimano Sellus is a decent rod for about $50, I had the 6'8" mh/f and was quite impressed with the weight and balance of the rod
Powell Diesel from TheFishRanger.
H20 Express.
I have a new Sellus and several old Lightning rod. The LR is a far more sensitive rod but I have had problems with broken guides on them in the past. I normally just repair them and keep going.
Gander has the lexa on sale for 49.99. Not sure how good it is tho. It is relatively light, IM7 graphite.
H2o Express Ethos! I love mine!!!
The ethos rods from academy are very, very good rods for the money...
Lightning Rod Shock, Abu Garcia Vengeance. Have and use both. Great rods for the $$.
I bought an h2o express heavy for flipping and it seems to be working great so far. I heard abu makes them but I don't know for sure.
I know it probably sounds silly coming from me, but it's nice to see, not everyone has become jaded by G Loomis, Megabass, and JDM...etc.
Hootie
I've had good luck with All Star from Academy. YMMV
look on the flea market forum

Or wait for closeout sales on upcoming redesigned or replaced models.
at academy we had the duckett micro magics go on closeout for 39.99
Wait until Thursday. Cabelas will have their Fish Eagle 50 rods on sale for $45. One heck of a deal.
H2O Express ethos. It is a great rod for the money. It also has a heck of a return policy if for some reason they break. I had one for about a year and I took it back and they replaced it no questions asked.
Off topic kinda ,,40yrs ago top of the line rods were fenwick and berkely big money back then was 40 to 60$ a rod. now cheap but good rods are 40 to 60
Same goes with reels. puny graphite shimanos and pig metal daiwas were the bottom of the barrel, now they reign supreme...
Cheap is a very broad term
I used to have a Berkley Lightning rod and for $39 dollars was a good rod in your price range. I've never used the shock to say if it's worth the extra $10 or not. Depending on what you're looking to use it for, the Berkley Amp rod I thought was pretty legit for a $30 rod. I eventually had an issue with the guides grooving after a few years, but for that price I was pleased.
