Question, if you were going to buy a baitcasting rod that is 7'4” in length, has a lure weight of 1/4-3/4 ounces, fast action, one piece rod, 9 guides+ tip, Rear grip length of 10 inches, Rod Weight of 4.7 ounces, spooled with a range of lines from 14 lb mono to 30 lb braid and was priced under $300 what would your top three baitcasting reels choices be?
#1. Shimano
#2. Daiwa
#3. Abu Garcia
I only need two choices
1 Daiwa
2 Shimano
Abu just one
Daiwa, Shimano, Lews.
Wait there are other brands other than shimano?

Daiwa. Unless the rod was only 7'2, had 1 less guide, weighed 4.5 ounces and the rear grip was a half inch shorter. That would call for something entirely different.
Pfluegar
Okuma

And Lew's.
Abu hasn't been relevant for Low Profile reels for sometime. Their Gen 3 reels are junk. This should be Shimano and Daiwa with Lews getting a look If you want something cheaper.
I would order the Metanium MGL from Digitika for $308 and then skip going out to lunch once and then you have it.

Can you repeat the question?
It doesn't make any sense.
Diawa Tatula CT Daiwa Tatula, Daiwa Tatula Type R

What about if the ranger of line for mono and braid was different and was price over $300.00?
Daiwa, Shimano.

I can name that tune in one note.
Shimano.....lol.

First of all I'd select the reel based mostly on lure weight. I assume the brands listed are YOUR choices. Mine are
Daiwa - my choices for that weight range: Fuego, Alphas, Tatula Type R or T3 variant
Primmus
Helios Air
with Lew's Tournament MB and Pro Z, Patriarch XT and Curado 201E7 hot on their tails. I'd add another reel, but we can't mention them here.

What are we missing with a rod 7'4" baitcasting rod 10 guides that weighs 4.7 oz?

2 things, m, mh, or h. and is it moderate or fast tip ?
as far as brands go its mostly personal preference, everyone has brands they like and brands not so much, for me i like abu, daiwa, and lew's and dislike quantum.
I eliminate all other choices and stick with daiwa and shimano. It simplifies things a little for me.
Let's see; I have five Alphas, six Fuegos, four Zillions, a PX-R, an SS SV, a Viento and two Certates. I guess disqualifies me from the Shimano posse.

Hmm...
If you want to kick in $100 I'll trade you a Curado for all that stuff.
If I was going to buy ???????? Thank heavens my next rod purchase will be 7'3". I couldn't take the pressure of making such a stressful choice under those vague parameters. Get one of each and rotate them.

The problem with that is it wouldn't be long before the OP would tire of switching reels. Then he would have to decide on which two rods to buy next. Another dilemma.

I'm not sure about the Pfluegars, but the Pfluegers are under-rated by many.

This is a great thing about them. They're great reels, every bit as good as my Shimanos were, but the name doesn't carry the same weight despite being around longer, so they're very easy to find for a steal. I have several Supreme XT baitcasters and have yet to pay over $100 for one, and have gone as low as $75 for a brand new one. I bought a regular Supreme 5.4.1 this summer for under $50 brand new. Now the new Presidents are out there for $60 full price and they've just been doing everything I've asked them to do so far. I guess I just looked at my Curado E's and I's and realized they don't do anything that the Pfluegars couldn't do, and guys are paying out the nose for them, why not switch? Now I've got more reels than I have rods is the only bad part
Oh, and my new President XT baitcaster should be here this week or early next week

I am in the same boat. I have a couple of the older Patriarch XTs.....purchased used of course. Actually I have a 3rd blue one coming this week. Fine reels. My brakes are set lower on the one that gets used (no rod for other) than on any of my other reels, and I have no problems with backlashing. An inexpensive Trion (older model also purchased used) is on a 6'10" HF rod, and it is a casting machine. Hasn't backlashed once since being moved to this rod. Not light. Not pretty. But a good reel nonetheless.
Dan (smalljaw67) has become a fan of the Supreme XTs. I've not used one yet. I know Dan has a lot of experience with reels of most every brand so we aren't alone in our opinion.
1:shimano
2:Lews
only two companies that I have used in the baitcaster scene so far
shimano metanium
daiwa zillion variant
abu ???
