Interesting line coming out...

Looks promising. If it makes it to market, I'll try it. But not in that pink color though

Agree pretty much. Pink is popular in the saltwater world, though.
0.010 has a 4kg breaking point...that would be 8.8lbs.
30lb power pro is 0.011
10lb tatsu is 0.010
30lb smackdown is 0.009
10lb sniper is 0.0102

Hmmmmm. Dubious claim, then. Guess we'll have to wait-n-see after it's finally on the market.
Guess they should have named it Bliss.
Sounds interesting, if it comes to fruit I will definitely try it. I am confused about the line diameter as well. I am not sure if it is meant to be compared to Nylon Monofilament in which case it is marginally thinner at the same breaking strength.
I enjoy trying new things and definitely don't mind the pink coloration. I always liked the brighter colors such as yellow and neon green over the moss green.

Are you mixing metric and imperial measurements there?
If the number gliss stated is in mm than im impressed lol
The makers of FC lines made all kinds of claims about low stretch when it first came out that proved to be false. Once it is released to the public, we'll see if the claims are true.
I don't see how it could be .01mm. That would be .0004 inches. And as a machinist, that is tiny.
It's not braid, but a fused PE line, like many that are already out. Fused lines don't have the super high break strength, but they have a purpose. A low stretch line that floats probably has a place in bass fishing, that 10# diameter doesn't have a 40# break strength isn't a deal breaker.
Thats what in sayin lolOn 9/26/2014 at 9:51 PM, BigMoneyGrip said:I don't see how it could be .01mm. That would be .0004 inches. And as a machinist, that is tiny.
Im not a machinist but im pretty smart when it comes to math, scientific notation, conversion and sig figs lol
On the Salt water forum, they are saying it's a miss print... Should be .100 not .010
I think it makes more sense.
I hope they come out with that stuff in pink like they show in the pictures, then I won't have to hunt all over for pink fireline for my wife's rod anymore
Ardent is selling Gliss on their new website: ardentreels.com
I'm very curious about this line. Its thinner than braid, zero stretch. We'll see how it holds up...
I found this video about Gliss on YouTube. This line is German made. It's got be good stuff!
I wonder how visible it is underwater?
The "trans" color looks too white, but it's hard to tell.
Green might be a good choice.
Just ordered a spool -
For me - Braided line, even when it first came out, was the most impactful advance in fishing (both fresh & saltwater) in my life time.
I don't see this having the same effect but a line that has the better qualities of both braid & mono ~
Might be close. Could certainly impact many of my moving bait presentations in a positive manner.
Sounds a little too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong but we'll soon see.

It's pretty affordable at $14.99 for 150 yards. $27.99 for 300 yards @ Ardent Reels .com
Compared to braid prices, this has a lot of promise. I've been reading more about it, and have highlighted the claims which will need to be tested:
-Zero line twist
-zero stretch
-0% water absorbsion
-ultra long casting distance
-thinner diameter than braid
I too am curious about the translucent, but it seems to be trying to replace braid. So I'll buy some and treat it like braid. Let's see how it holds up!
Tried to order some but they only take Paypal? That'd be fine if I hadn't just drained my Paypal account on a Dep's
So what is the difference between our American braid and this gliss?
There's a user on TT that's been using it and another user posted 3 links to others that have been using it as well. The line is being compared to nanofil but stronger.
Are my conversions acurate?... the lightest test Gliss is 8kg or ~17lb and .12mm diameter or .005". The stated diameter is equivalent to 6lb test NanoFil

Interesting info now that the line is out and in use by some.
Just bought a 1500 yard spool of PP Slick in 15 lb test, so
unlikely I'll try Gliss any time soon....
I'm not a fan of braid, but this is interesting. Of course, I've got enough Mccoy to last for a while and found a new 1/4 lb spool of Big Game floating in the lake yesterday that must've blown out so I'm good for a while. I'd like to see the translucent reviews though.
I just want a line that sinks, has zero stretch, and is invisible.
If this is translucent I will definitely give it a try

update: I just ordered a spool of 12lb green. Cost me 20 bucks shipped.

My spool of Gliss Monotex line arrived this morning.
It's 300 yds of the 40 LB line -
First impressions - out of the package ( haven't spooled it up or fished it yet);
Seems smooth, fairly limp but not over so, I'd expect it to handle OK. This 40 lbs is definitely thinner than any 40 lb "Braid" I've used. I'm guessing it's somewhere close to 8 maybe a thin 10 lb mono size.
Interestingly enough I got this size for casting reel applications and looking at it, unless it actually handles like it's advertised (like a mono) it may be too thin for my liking. We'll see. If I was going to get it for a spinning reel for light line bassing, I'd go for the next size down maybe two sizes.
Bottom line - Gliss looks & feels like several of the more limp braids already on the market to me.
I don't exactly know what I was expecting, but so far this is does not look like anything Revolutionary to me.
More to follow.

Does it have the density of fluoro A-Jay?

Hard to say right out of the pack & still on the spool.
Don't exactly know if I could tell for sure any way.
I will say that to me, Gliss Looks, Feels and appears in most every way like braid & Not Mono, fluoro or co-poly line. It's going to have to pull a major magic act in the handling category to make me feel other wise.
But I'm still optimistic and I hope I'm wrong. That's why I'm checking it out.

I used 10lb braid for spinning reel applications, and the closest thing to it, diameter wise, is the 24lb, which is what I'll be buying.
Its a bit expensive for a braid or fused braid. It cost around 20$ to buy it off ebay for 150 yards.

What color did you get?
I still have not see any reports about the translucent color.

I have the Green and I'm heading out right now to try it out.
I spooled it up and preformed a preliminary "Dry Run", casting it out in the back forty yesterday.
I'm very happy report that it did cast quite well "Dry". So at least initially that's good and I'm anxiously optimistic.
