I have been off of this site for some time now, but I had alot going on! My wife and I bought a house on Table Rock and we are to close on it Dec. 27. We should be down there by March but I have to sell my house here first. We can't wait to come down to the lake.It has been our life long dream, and we found a house of our dreams too.We have to pinch each other every day to see if we are in a dream.I don't have to put up with hard water anymore! The bass fishing is great on the Rock and I know the lake alittle bit so it should be fun!
Don't know anything about the place but I certainly want to congratulate you all for achieving a dream , god bless !!
Good luck and be safe !!!
Congratulations!
I'm hoping my wife and I end up either on Table Rock or Bull Shoals. We go to the Rock at least once a year and both love it. What part of the lake did you move to? I'd like to be somewhere not too far from Kimberling City so it isn't a long drive into town whenever my wife feels the need to go shopping or whatever she wants to do. My parents just got a vacation home but it's down by the dam, not my favorite part of the lake to fish at all. Congrats to both of you!
Blue basser, We did buy our house in Blue Eye,the house over looks the lake with a wicked view. I do have a lot in Kimberling city over by fisher creek that I will sell now. It was too $$$$$ to build. So we went and bought. I like the Kimberling are alot too. where my house is in Blue Eye we are a distance from food stores I would think about 20 miles.By water if I put my boat in at Cow creek it would take me 10 to 15 min. by water to fish Kimberling.
Congrats

My parents place is over by Blue Eye, nice area, can be tough fishing though.
Congratulations!!!! Table Rock would be my ultimate retirement destination.
Welcome back!
Both of the "Cows" are some good winter fishing - congrats on the 'Rock. I love it - one of the reasons I moved over here.
Randy, I will have to fisk both Cow creeks. Do you like better spring, summer, fall?

Man I wish I had bought a lake lot here years ago. Could have gotten it cheap. Now everyone with money is building huge homes there and the prices have went up times ten plus. One lot I ask about where we where painting a house next door was. 250k for a half acre. But it was perfect. And they will get that much sooner or later.
My step dad said he could have got two lake front lots at our favorite place to fish for 2 k each about 20 years ago. Now il bet there 20k at the least. And the ones that can afford that will build a house that cost four to eight times what mine does and only go there a couple of times a year. It's crazy!
Ticks me off they have drove the price up so high I can never afford to live there in my retirement which would be my dream.
So my new dream is to build a house with a deck over hanging a pond. That's about as close as I could ever get to living on the water.
Heck who am I kidding I should be more realistic. A trailer house or an old camper maybe.

Early spring and late fall are king on the Rock. Summer is good but you have to get out early in the morning before all the water fleas do.
Congrats!
I like Winter/early Spring, either finesse or hair jigs when the fish are near the bottom, and swimming grubs or suspending jerks when they're suspended. From the "Cows" to the dam is great Winter fishing for all three Black Bass species.
Insanity, Yes lots and homes were cheaper 20 years ago on Table Rock lake. But that is true every where! but I do think you are wrong on some things. One for sure is the home that I bought on Table Rock I could NEVER afford here in Wisconsin! On the Rock if you want a lake view you are going to pay more but, there are alot of nice homes away from the lake that are not bad price's.And it is cheaper to live there than were I am now.The lot I bought 9 years ago I am selling for what I payed for it.The bass fishing is great and the people are very friendly it is like another world to us.My wife and I worked hard our whole life to live this.We only bought one house that we lived in and had two kids and we lived there for 28 years. So this home that we bought is our Xmas gift to each other.I do think if you like the Table rock area that you should look at more homes down there. There are alot of good deals to be had.We looked at alot of homes before we found our's. We put in a low offer and one counter it was a deal.Don't give up.Good Luck My friend.
If you guys have any more fishing tips,I am all ears! And maybe we can hook up and do some fishing together?
Congrats! I moved to the Ozarks 8 years ago after 35 years in MN, so I know you'll be thrilled to get out of the winters up there. I live just off Beaver Lake and fish it and TR quite a bit. Great bass lake for sure.
Best of luck selling the old house.
I'm on table rock 1-2 times a year, sometimes more. Some of my relation own a resort on indian point. I'd love to get with you sometime when I'm down there.
Since you're familiar with the rock, you probably already know this, but if you "master" these techniques, you should always be able to catch fish.
Topwater - The redfin is famous here. All about the wiggle diggle. Change out the hooks and do some minor mods to this bait, and it can be killer. Other than that, a spook works great too. Have these two on deck during topwater season and hang on. Every once in a while a popper bite can turn on as well.
Crankbaits- Wiggle wart. When the water is cool, sometimes this is the only bait you need tied on. The 6xd can catch some good fish too when the water warms up and the fish move out.
Slow presentations: 1/2-1 ounce jigs. Colors can vary, but pbj or natural greens work awesome. Where the fish are hanging out dictates how heavy to go obviously. All you gotta do is drag that thing on the right point. Some people like throwing a heavy finesse jig around docks as well. Tubes in the right color can also be great producers if the fish are shallow or in the bushes. I'm pretty fond of the "puke" color for a tube. The drop shot (which I've never thrown) certainly has its place on this lake as well when fish are deep over trees.
Other presentations that have their time: Suspending jerkbaits can yield big bags if the bite is there. The A-rig can do the same. I've been able to catch some nice mixed bags on the "ned rig", but that bait only works if you find the right stretch it seems. I've found that shallow water close to the channel is a good place to start.
And now I will say in my best Sean Connery voice "Welcome to the rock"
Thanks for all the tips! I love to fish jigs,C-rigs,t-rigs are my go to's. Jeb how far is it to Beaver from Kimberling City?
Welcome to Missouri. Table Rock is a fun lake to fish but as BlueBasser said earlier it can be tough.

C-rigs are my go to technique on Beaver and TR most of the year. Winter is suspending jerk bait and WW's on windy points, though.
To the closest Beaver Lake access from Kimberling City, I'd say about 45 minutes. The bass fishing is just better on TR, though, for whatever reason. Some say it's all the big stripers we have eating too many of the bass. In any case, Beaver is notoriously tough, and it's a well earned rep. I can catch bass consistently on Beaver, but it took a lot of learning and it does not give up big ones very often.
Not sure if MO has this (I'd think so), but Ark has a neat deal on licenses. For an extra like $10 a year when getting my Ark fishing license, I can fish TR w/o getting a MO out of state fishing license. Since TR actually starts in Ark, even though like 90% of it is in MO, the entire lake is considered a border water. Also applies to any parts of Bull Shoals that is in MO.

To my knowledge, this applies for mo residents as well.
I was thinking about that because my house is in Blue Eye and I am not too far away from the 86 bridge, and I know that south of the 86 bridge is AK.water.That is the cost for a year license?

That water south of the bridge is supposed to be pretty hot in the spring. Always wanted to get down there, but have never bought the ar license.

Looks like MO fishing license is $12 and the extra license I was talking about above is $10 more (called a White River Border Lakes Permit).

Watch what you ask for ever looked at our KC reports? You may have 7 boats and 14 tents in your yard Don't worry we will bring Beer and Brats! Congrats on the house!!!
LOL, Chris that was funny!!!!! At least you are going to bring the food & beer! There is a price to pay to get to know the lake!!! But the tents have to be gone by labor Day!
I just want to say thanks for all the welcome and the welcome back posts! I will be down there in Blue eye next week to close on the house.
Are any of you guys going to fish the Big Bass tournament in May?
Welcome to TR! We purchased a resort here in August of 2011 and love the lake. We are located on Indian Point at the end of Jakes Creek Trail. If you want to look us up www.artilla.net is our resort. I've been fishing since I was old enough to hold a rod and it is my therapy for life. Enough about me on to the important stuff. Just to let you know there is not a "BAD" area to fish here on TR. Some like it up the river and others like it down on the main lake area. What I have found in my first 2 years is you can find whatever kind of water you want/like to fish within a few minutes from almost anywhere on the lake. You can catch bass here on whatever bait you are most comfortable with but there are some that simply produce more bites than others. I've found there is always a wiggle wart bite as the lake is rock and crawfish are in abundance here it simply works better or even best in the spring/early summer. Once the shad spawn happens then the bass tend to switch over to them. If you have the stamina to throw it once the water temp gets below 55 the A-rig is the way to go for numbers of bass. Personally, I can only throw it for a short time and have to change so something else (bad R shoulder and L elbow). My confidence bait for here is the baby brush hog in watermelon/red. It seems to produce almost anytime of the year because it looks like a shad/lizard/crawfish all in one bait. I've C-rigged it but prefer the simple texas rig. Hook size and weight are adjusted to what I am fishing. From the resort it takes me about 8 mins by water to get to the back of either of the cow creeks. There isn't to many docks or houses up there so I'd guess your home did not come with a dock. If you want to fish sometime give me a call at 417-338-2346 (resort number) and will see if we can get out and find a few.

Thank you for all the info and tips. I myself love the big brother the Brush hog. I fish it alot on a T-rig. We will be down there the first two weeks of Feb. to move some some things down there. My house is wright off of JJ so I am very close by water to your resort. I did not buy the slip,( too much $$$) and I like to have my boat in the garage. That way I can trailer my boat to any part of the lake that I want to fish.Cow creek is wright around the corner from me.
When do the shad spawn??
Shad spawn depends on water temp. 2012 it was end of March. 2013 it was middle to end of April. Keep in mind I'm at the lower end of the lake. As for the brush hog size does matter here and I have tried the larger one and don't get the same results. Which side of the JJ point are you on? Can you see the Branson Belle or opposite side? At the end of JJ is Coombs Ferry public use area and is about 2 mins by water or less from me. If the weather is good when you're down give me a call if nothing else we can go for a boat ride and look around.

LOL! My wife and her would get along great in a boat.
Big Bass John, What is your big bass out of the Rock? I did get a SM of 6 lbs.5 oz.and my big LM out of TR is all most 6 lbs.
That is a toad you are holding!!!!!!!
John is like a half uncle, cousin something or other to me. Anyhow, I would listen to him... Nice to have some family on the board. John, this is Blake Russell by the way.
The fish I'm holding is an 11 lb 8 oz from El Salto lake in Mexico. I had the pleasure of having a bass fishermans dream afternoon on El Salto. Caught 9 bass in 2 hours all over 8 lbs with 3 over 10 lbs. Biggest bass out of the Rock is a 6 lb 8 oz largemouth on the baby brush hog. I've caught a few nice smallies in the 4 - 5 lb range. pbrussell is related to me but he thinks I know alot about fishing I put up a pretty good front. I'm still new to TR even after fishing it for 2 yrs.

You know plenty.
I will be back down there ( TR ) early Feb. to move some things into the new house! What is the fishing like down there now,I would think it has been slowwwwwwwwwwww?

I've been hearing mixed results. Seems like if you can find them in deep water in the cuts with bait you can really knock their lights out. Sounds like the jerkbait and A-rig bite have been almost nothing though. There's always fish to be caught somewhere on Table Rock all year round.
